2 Kings 13
1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu has reigned over Israel in Samaria, seventeen years,
La vingt-troisième année de Joas, fils d'Achazia, roi de Juda, Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, devint roi d'Israël à Samarie pour dix-sept ans.
2 and he does evil in the eyes of YHWH, and goes after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin—he did not turn aside from it,
Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, et dans sa conduite continua les péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebat, où celui-ci avait entraîné Israël, et il ne s'en départit point.
3 and the anger of YHWH burns against Israel, and He gives them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, all the days.
Dès lors le courroux de l'Éternel s'alluma contre Israël qu'il livra aux mains de Hazaël, roi de Syrie, et aux mains de Ben-Hadad, fils de Hazaël, tout ce temps-là.
4 And Jehoahaz appeases the face of YHWH, and YHWH listens to him, for He has seen the oppression of Israel, for the king of Aram has oppressed them—
Alors Joachaz chercha à apaiser l'Éternel, et l'Éternel l'exauça, car Il voyait l'oppression d'Israël opprimé par le roi-de Syrie.
5 and YHWH gives a savior to Israel, and they go out from under the hand of Aram, and the sons of Israel dwell in their tents as before;
Et l'Éternel accorda aux Israélites un sauveur, et ils secouèrent le joug de la Syrie, et les enfants d'Israël purent rester sous leurs tentes comme autrefois.
6 only, they have not turned aside from the sins of the house of Jeroboam that he caused Israel to sin, therein they walked, and also, the Asherah has remained in Samaria—
Néanmoins ils ne se départirent pas des péchés delà maison de Jéroboam, où elle avait entraîné Israël; ils y persévérèrent et même Astarté resta debout à Samarie.
7 for he did not leave to Jehoahaz of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram has destroyed them, and makes them as dust for threshing.
Aussi bien Il n'avait laissé à Joachaz en fait de troupes que cinquante cavaliers et dix chars et dix mille hommes de pied; en effet, le roi de Syrie les avait taillés en pièces et réduits à l'état de la poussière qu'on foule.
8 And the rest of the matters of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Joachaz et toutes ses entreprises et ses exploits sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales des rois d'Israël.
9 And Jehoahaz lies with his fathers, and they bury him in Samaria, and his son Joash reigns in his stead.
Et Joachaz reposa avec ses pères et reçut la sépulture à Samarie, et Joas, son fils, régna en sa place.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz has reigned over Israel in Samaria, sixteen years,
La trente-septième année de Joas, roi de Juda, Joas, fils de Joachaz, devint roi d'Israël à Samarie pour seize ans.
11 and he does evil in the eyes of YHWH, he has not turned aside from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin, therein he walked.
Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, il ne se départit d'aucun des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebat, qui avait fait pécher Israël; il y persévéra.
12 And the rest of the matters of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Joas et toutes ses entreprises et ses exploits, la guerre qu'il eut avec Amatsia, roi de Juda, sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales dès rois d'Israël.
13 And Joash lies with his fathers, and Jeroboam has sat on his throne, and Joash is buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
Et Joas reposa à côté de ses pères, et Jéroboam s'assit sur son trône et Joas reçut la sépulture à Samarie à côté des rois d'Israël.
14 And Elisha has been sick with his sickness in which he dies, and Joash king of Israel comes down to him and weeps on his face, and says, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen.”
Cependant Elisée tomba malade de la maladie dont il mourut. Alors Joas, roi d'Israël, descendit chez lui et pleura penché sur son visage et dit: Mon père! mon père! Char d'Israël et ses cavaliers!
15 And Elisha says to him, “Take bow and arrows”: and he takes bow and arrows for himself.
Et Elisée lui dit: Prends un arc et des flèches! et il se munit d'un arc et de flèches.
16 And he says to the king of Israel, “Place your hand on the bow”; and he places his hand, and Elisha puts his hands on the hands of the king,
Et il dit au roi d'Israël: De ta main arme l'arc! et de sa main il arma, et Elisée posa ses mains sur les mains du roi.
17 and says, “Open the window eastward”; and he opens, and Elisha says, “Shoot,” and he shoots; and he says, “An arrow of salvation from YHWH, and an arrow of salvation against Aram, and you have struck Aram, in Aphek, until consuming.”
Puis il dit: Ouvre la fenêtre à l'orient! Et il l'ouvrit. Et Elisée dit: Tire. Et il tira. Et Elisée dit: Flèche de victoire de par l'Éternel et flèche de victoire sur la Syrie! tu battras donc les Syriens à Aphek jusqu'à extermination.
18 And he says, “Take the arrows,” and he takes; and he says to the king of Israel, “Strike to the earth”; and he strikes three times, and stays.
Et il dit: Prends les flèches! Et il les prit. Et il dit au roi d'Israël: Frappe contre le sol! Et il frappa trois fois, puis s'arrêta.
19 And the man of God is angry against him and says, “By striking five or six times then you had struck Aram until consuming; but now you [only] strike Aram three times.”
Alors l'homme de Dieu s'irrita contre lui et dit: Il y avait à frapper cinq ou six fois; alors tu battais les Syriens jusqu'à extermination; mais maintenant tu battras les Syriens trois fois.
20 And Elisha dies, and they bury him, and troops of Moab come into the land at the coming in of the year,
Et Elisée mourut et on lui donna la sépulture. Et les bandes des Moabites envahissaient le pays, quand venait la [nouvelle] année.
21 and it comes to pass, they are burying a man, and behold, they have seen the troop, and cast the man into the grave of Elisha, and the man goes and comes against the bones of Elisha, and lives, and rises on his feet.
Et il advint qu'ils donnèrent la sépulture à un homme, et voilà qu'ils aperçurent les bandes: aussitôt ils jetèrent l'homme dans le tombeau d'Elisée, puis partirent; et l'homme fut en contact avec les os d'Elisée et il reprit vie et se dressa sur ses pieds.
22 And Hazael king of Aram has oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz,
Cependant Hazaël, roi de Syrie, avait opprimé les Israélites durant toute la vie de Joachaz.
23 and YHWH favors them, and pities them, and turns to them for the sake of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and has not been willing to destroy them, nor to cast them from His presence as yet.
Mais l'Éternel leur fut propice et prit pitié d'eux et tourna ses regards vers eux, eu égard à son alliance avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, et Il ne voulut pas les détruire et ne les bandit point de sa présence jusqu'à présent.
24 And Hazael king of Aram dies, and his son Ben-Hadad reigns in his stead,
Et Hazaël, roi de Syrie, mourût, et Ben-Hadad, son fils, régna en sa place.
25 and Jehoash son of Jehoahaz turns and takes the cities out of the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael that he had taken out of the hand of his father Jehoahaz in war; Joash has struck him three times, and he brings back the cities of Israel.
Alors Joas, fils de Joachaz, reprit des mains de Ben-Hadad, fils de Hazaël, les villes que celui-ci avait enlevées à Joachaz, son père, dans la guerre. Joas le battit trois fois et recouvra les villes d'Israël.
