2 Corinthians 5

1 For we have known that if the tent of our earthly house may be thrown down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands—perpetual—in the heavens, (aiōnios g166)

אנו יודעים שכאשר משכננו הארצי ייהרס, כלומר כאשר נמות ונצא מגופנו הגשמי, יצפה לנו בשמים משכן נצחי מאת אלוהים, שאינו מעשה ידי אדם. (aiōnios g166)

2 for also in this we groan, earnestly desiring to clothe ourselves with our dwelling that is from Heaven,

מה עייפנו מגופנו הנוכחי! אנו נכספים ליום שבו נקבל גוף חדש מן השמים אשר נלבשהו כבגד,

3 if so be that, having clothed ourselves, we will not be found naked,

כדי שלא נהיה נשמות ללא גוף.

4 for we also who are in the tent groan, being burdened, seeing we do not wish to unclothe ourselves, but to clothe ourselves, that the mortal may be swallowed up of life.

כל עוד אנו בגופנו הגשמי, אנו נאנחים מתוך דיכאון ומועקה, אך איננו רוצים למות ולהיוותר ללא גוף. ברצוננו ללבוש את הגוף החדש, כך שהגוף בן התמותה יבלע על־ידי החיים.

5 And He who worked us to this very thing [is] God, who also gave to us the deposit of the Spirit;

אלוהים הוא שהכין כל זאת למעננו, וכערבות לכך נתן לנו את רוח הקודש.

6 having courage, then, at all times, and knowing that being at home in the body, we are away from home from the LORD—

עתה אנו מצפים בביטחון לגופנו הרוחני, כי אנו יודעים שכל עוד אנו שוכנים בגופנו הגשמי אנו רחוקים מן האדון.

7 for we walk through faith, not through sight—

אנו יודעים שאלה דברי אמת מתוך אמונה, ולא ממראה עיניים.

8 we have courage, and are well pleased, rather, to be away from the home of the body, and to be at home with the LORD.

אנו כה בטוחים בדבר, עד כי אנו מעדיפים לצאת מן הגוף ולבוא הביתה אל האדון.

9 We are also ambitious for this reason, whether at home or away from home, to be well pleasing to Him,

משום כך אנו משתדלים למצוא־חן בעיניו בכל מעשינו, אם אנו בגופנו הגשמי ואם בשמים.

10 for it is necessary for all of us to have appeared before the judgment seat of the Christ, that each one may receive the things [done] through the body, in reference to the things that he did, whether good or evil;

כי כולנו עתידים לעמוד לפני המשיח ולהישפט על־ידו. כל אחד יקבל את המגיע לו על־פי מעשיו הטובים או הרעים בחייו הגשמיים.

11 having known, therefore, the fear of the LORD, we persuade men, and we are revealed to God, and I also hope to have been revealed in your consciences;

מתוך הכרת יראת ה׳ אנו משתדלים להביא אנשים לידי אמונה בו. מניעינו הטהורים בעניין זה גלויים לפני אלוהים, ואני מקווה שגם לפני מצפונכם!

12 for we do not again recommend ourselves to you, but we are giving occasion to you of glorifying in our behalf, that you may have [something] in reference to those glorifying in face and not in heart;

האם אנו שוב טופחים לעצמנו על השכם? לא! אני נותן לכם הזדמנות להתגאות בנו לפי אלה המתפארים בהופעתם החיצונית ובדרך הטפתם, במקום בטוהר לבם. אנחנו לפחות ישרים ומניעינו טהורים.

13 for whether we were beside ourselves, [it was] to God; whether we be of sound mind, [it is] to you,

האם יצאנו מדעתנו? אם כן, הרי זה כדי להביא כבוד לאלוהים. אך אם דעתנו שפויה, הרי זה למענכם.

14 for the love of the Christ constrains us, having judged thus: that if one died for all, then the whole died,

איננו עושים דבר למען עצמנו, שכן אהבת המשיח מכוונת עתה את מעשינו. הואיל ואנו מאמינים שהמשיח מת בעד כולנו, עלינו להאמין שמתנו לגבי החיים שנהגנו לחיות.

15 and He died for all, that those living may no longer live to themselves, but to Him who died for them, and was raised again.

הוא מת למען כולם כדי שכל החיים – אשר קיבלו ממנו חיי נצח – שוב לא יחיו למען עצמם, אלא למען המשיח אשר מת וקם לתחייה בעדם.

16 So that we, from now on, have known no one according to the flesh, and even if we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him [thus] no longer;

לכן חדלו לשפוט את המאמינים על־פי חיצוניותם או על־פי דעתם של הלא־מאמינים. פעם שגיתי ושפטתי את המשיח על־פי קנה מידה אנושי, אך איני עושה זאת שוב.

17 so that if anyone [is] in Christ—[he is] a new creature; the old things passed away, behold, all things have become new.

המאמין במשיח נעשה בריאה חדשה; שוב אין הוא אותו אדם כמקודם, שכן יש בו עתה חיים חדשים.

18 And all things [are] of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of the reconciliation,

כל הדברים החדשים האלה הינם מאת האלוהים אשר השיבנו לעצמו בזכות קורבנו של המשיח. אלוהים העניק לנו את הזכות לעודד אחרים לשוב אליו,

19 how that God was in Christ—reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses; and having put in us the word of the reconciliation,

ולבשר להם שהוא מקרב אליו את כל בני־האדם באמצעות המשיח, ושוב אין הוא זוכר להם את חטאיהם. זוהי הבשורה הנפלאה שמסר לנו לבשר לאחרים.

20 in behalf of Christ, then, we are ambassadors, as if God were calling through us, we implore, in behalf of Christ, “Be reconciled to God”;

לפיכך שגרירי המשיח אנחנו, ואלוהים מזהיר אתכם באמצעותנו. על כן אנו מתחננים לפניכם בשם המשיח: אנא, היענו לאהבתו והתרצו לאלוהים.

21 He made Him having not known sin [to be] sin in our behalf, that we may become the righteousness of God in Him.

למרות שהמשיח היה ללא חטא, אלוהים שם בו את חטאינו, ואחר כך שם בנו את צדקת אלוהים.
