< 2 Chronicles 32 >
1 After these things and this truth, Sennacherib king of Asshur has come, indeed, he comes to Judah, and encamps against the cities of the bulwarks, and says to break into them himself.
Oluvannyuma lw’ebyo byonna Keezeekiya bye yakola n’obwesigwa, Sennakeribu kabaka w’e Bwasuli n’alumba Yuda, n’asiisira ebweru w’ebibuga ebiriko bbugwe, n’alowooza mu mutima gwe okubyetwalira.
2 And Hezekiah sees that Sennacherib has come, and his face [is] to the battle against Jerusalem,
Awo Keezeekiya bwe yalaba nga Sennakeribu azze, era ng’amaliridde okulwana ne Yerusaalemi,
3 and he takes counsel with his heads and his mighty ones, to stop the waters of the fountains that [are] at the outside of the city—and they help him,
n’ateesa n’abakungu be n’abasajja be abalwanyi abazira, ku ky’okuziba enzizi ezaali ebweru w’ekibuga, era ne bakikola.
4 and many people are gathered, and they stop all the fountains and the brook that is rushing into the midst of the land, saying, “Why do the kings of Asshur come, and have found much water?”
Ekibiina kinene eky’abantu ne kikuŋŋaana, ne baziba enzizi zonna n’akagga akayita mu nsi, nga bagamba nti, “Lwaki bakabaka b’e Bwasuli bajja ne basanga amazzi amangi bwe gatyo?”
5 And he strengthens himself, and builds the whole of the wall that is broken, and causes [it] to ascend to the towers, and at the outside of the wall [builds] another, and strengthens Millo [in] the City of David, and makes darts in abundance, and shields.
N’afuba nnyo n’addaabiriza ebitundu byonna ebya bbugwe ebyali bimenyese, n’azimba n’eminaala ku bbugwe, n’anyweza n’ebigulumu ebyanywezanga ekibuga kya Dawudi. N’akozesa n’ebyokulwanyisa bingi n’engabo nnyingi.
6 And he puts heads of war over the people, and gathers them to him, to the broad place of a gate of the city, and speaks to their heart, saying,
N’alonda abaduumizi b’eggye okukulembera abantu, ne babakuŋŋaanyiza gy’ali mu kifo ekigazi awali wankaaki w’ekibuga; n’abagumya ng’agamba nti,
7 “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, nor be cast down from the face of the king of Asshur, and from the face of all the multitude that [is] with him, for with us [are] more than with him.
“Mube n’amaanyi, mugume omwoyo. Temutya so temwelariikirira olwa kabaka w’e Bwasuli n’eggye lye eddene, kubanga waliwo eggye eririsinga eriri awamu naffe.
8 With him [is] an arm of flesh, but with us [is] our God YHWH to help us and to fight our battles”; and the people are supported by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
Sennakeribu akozesa omukono ogw’omubiri, naye ffe tulina Mukama Katonda waffe atulwanirira mu ntalo zaffe.” Abantu ne baguma omwoyo olw’ebigambo Keezeekiya kabaka wa Yuda bye yayogera.
9 After this Sennacherib king of Asshur has sent his servants to Jerusalem—and he [is] by Lachish, and all his power with him—against Hezekiah king of Judah and against all Judah who [are] in Jerusalem, saying,
Awo Sennakeribu kabaka w’e Bwasuli n’eggye lye lyonna bwe baali bakyali e Lakisi kye baali bazingizza, n’atuma abakungu be e Yerusaalemi eri Keezeekiya kabaka wa Yuda, n’eri abantu bonna aba Yuda abaaliyo, ng’agamba nti,
10 “Thus said Sennacherib king of Asshur: On what are you trusting and abiding in the bulwark in Jerusalem?
“Bw’ati bw’ayogera Sennakeribu kabaka w’e Bwasuli nti, ‘Mwesiga ki okusigala mu Yerusaalemi nga kizingiziddwa?
11 Is Hezekiah not persuading you to give you up to die by famine and by thirst, saying, Our God YHWH delivers us from the hand of the king of Asshur?
Mulowooza nga Keezeekiya bw’ayogera nti, “Mukama Katonda waffe alitulokola mu mukono gwa kabaka w’e Bwasuli,” abatalimba, n’okwagala okubassa enjala n’ennyonta?
12 Has Hezekiah himself not turned aside His high places and His altars, and speaks to Judah and to Jerusalem, saying, You bow yourselves before one altar and you make incense on it?
Keezeekiya si ye yaggyawo ebifo ebigulumivu n’ebyoto, n’alagira Yuda ne Yerusaalemi ng’agamba nti, “Munaasinzizanga mu maaso g’ekyoto kimu, era okwo kwe munaayoterezanga obubaane”?
13 Do you not know what I have done—I and my fathers—to all peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands at all able to deliver their land out of my hand?
“‘Temumanyi, nze ne bajjajjange bye twakola amawanga gonna ag’omu nsi endala? Bakatonda abamawanga ago, baayinza okubawonya mu mukono gwange?
14 Who among all the gods of these nations whom my fathers have devoted to destruction [is] he who has been able to deliver his people out of my hand, that your God is able to deliver you out of my hand?
Ani ku bakatonda abamawanga ago bajjajjange ge baazikiriza, eyayinza okubalokola mu mukono gwange? Katonda wammwe anaabawonya atya mu mukono gwange?
15 And now, do not let Hezekiah lift you up, nor persuade you thus, nor give credence to him, for no god of any nation and kingdom is able to deliver his people from my hand and from the hand of my fathers: also, surely your God does not deliver you from my hand!”
Kale nno, Keezeekiya aleme kubalimbalimba newaakubadde okubasendasenda mu nsonga eyo. Temumukkiriza, kubanga tewali katonda ow’eggwanga lyonna oba bwakabaka, eyayinza okulokola abantu be mu mukono gwange newaakubadde eyayinza okubalokola mu mukono gwa bajjajjange. Kale Katonda wammwe alibawonya atya mu mukono gwange?’”
16 And again his servants have spoken against YHWH God and against His servant Hezekiah,
Abakungu ba Sennakeribu ne boogera bingi nnyo n’okusingawo ku Mukama Katonda ne ku muddu we Keezeekiya.
17 and he has written letters to give reproach to YHWH, God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands that have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah does not deliver His people from my hand.”
Kabaka oyo n’awandiika n’amabaluwa agavuma Mukama Katonda wa Isirayiri, ng’agamba nti, “Nga bakatonda abamawanga ag’ensi bwe bataabawonya mu mukono gwange, bw’atyo ne Katonda wa Keezeekiya bw’ataliwonya bantu be mu mukono gwange.”
18 And they call with a great voice [in] Jewish against the people of Jerusalem who [are] on the wall, to frighten them and to trouble them, that they may capture the city,
Ne bakoowoola abantu ba Yerusaalemi abaali ku bbugwe mu lw’Ebbulaniya, nga babatiisatiisa baggweemu amaanyi, balyoke bawambe ekibuga.
19 and they speak against the God of Jerusalem as against the gods of the peoples of the land—work of the hands of man.
Ne boogera ku Katonda wa Yerusaalemi nga bwe baayogeranga ku bakatonda abamawanga amalala ag’omu nsi endala, abakolebwa abantu.
20 And Hezekiah the king prays, and Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, concerning this, and they cry to the heavens,
Awo Kabaka Keezeekiya ne nnabbi Isaaya mutabani wa Amozi ne basaba nga bakaabira eri eggulu ku nsonga eyo.
21 and YHWH sends a messenger and cuts off every mighty man of valor—both leader and head—in the camp of the king of Asshur, and he turns back with shame of face to his land and enters the house of his god, and those coming out of his bowels have caused him to fall there by the sword.
Mukama n’atuma malayika, n’atemaatema abasajja abalwanyi abazira ab’amaanyi bonna n’abaduumizi, n’abakungu mu nkambi ya kabaka w’e Bwasuli. Sennakeribu n’addayo mu nsi ye ng’ensonyi zimukutte. Bwe yayingira mu yeekaalu ya katonda we, abamu ku batabani be ne bamutta n’ekitala.
22 And YHWH saves Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Asshur and from the hand of all, and He leads them around;
Awo Mukama n’alokola Keezeekiya n’abantu ba Yerusaalemi mu mukono gwa Sennakeribu kabaka w’e Bwasuli ne mu mukono gw’abalabe baabwe bonna abalala. N’abaakuumanga enjuuyi zonna.
23 and many are bringing in an offering to YHWH, to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, and he is lifted up before the eyes of all the nations after this.
Bangi ne baleetera Mukama ebirabo e Yerusaalemi, ne Keezeekiya kabaka wa Yuda n’afuna ebirabo eby’omuwendo omungi. N’okuva ku lunaku olwo n’aweebwa ekitiibwa kinene mu mawanga gonna.
24 In those days Hezekiah has been sick even to death, and he prays to YHWH, and He speaks to him and has appointed a wonder for him;
Mu biro ebyo, Keezeekiya n’alwala nnyo kumpi n’okufa. N’asaba Mukama amuwonye, n’amuddamu n’akabonero.
25 and Hezekiah has not returned according to the deed [done] to him, for his heart has been lofty, and there is wrath on him and on Judah and Jerusalem;
Naye Keezeekiya n’ateebaza ebyekisa ekya mukolerwa, olw’amalala agaali mu ye. Obusungu bwa Mukama kyebwava bubuubuukira ku ye ne ku Yuda ne ku Yerusaalemi.
26 and Hezekiah is humbled for the loftiness of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the wrath of YHWH has not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
Oluvannyuma, Keezeekiya ne yeenenya amalala agaali mu ye, ku lulwe ne ku lw’abantu ab’omu Yerusaalemi, ekiruyi kya Mukama ne butababuubuukirako mu mirembe gya Keezeekiya.
27 And Hezekiah has very much riches and honor, and he has made treasures for himself of silver, and of gold, and of precious stone, and of spices, and of shields, and of all [kinds] of desirable vessels,
Keezeekiya yalina eby’obugagga bingi nnyo n’ekitiibwa, ne yeezimbira n’amawanika ag’okukuumirangamu effeeza, ne zaabu, n’amayinja ag’omuwendo omungi, n’ebyakaloosa, n’engabo, n’ebintu eby’engeri zonna eby’omuwendo.
28 and storehouses for the increase of grain, and new wine, and oil, and stalls for all kinds of livestock, and herds for stalls;
N’azimba n’amaterekero ag’eŋŋaano, ne wayini, n’amafuta; n’azimba n’ebiraalo eby’ebika by’ente byonna, n’ebifo eby’ebisibo by’endiga.
29 and he has made cities for himself, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance, for God has given very much substance to him.
Ne yeezimbira ebibuga, ne yeefunira n’ebisibo n’amagana mangi, kubanga Katonda yali amuwadde eby’obugagga bingi nnyo nnyini.
30 And Hezekiah himself has stopped the upper source of the waters of Gihon, and directs them beneath to the west of the City of David, and Hezekiah prospers in all his work;
Keezeekiya, ye yaziba oluzzi olwa waggulu olwa Gikoni, amazzi n’agaserengesa ku luuyi olw’ebugwanjuba olw’ekibuga kya Dawudi. N’alaba omukisa mu buli kye yakolanga.
31 and so with the ambassadors of the heads of Babylon, those sending to him to inquire of the wonder that has been in the land, God has left him to try him, to know all in his heart.
Naye mu bigambo eby’ababaka abaatumibwa abakungu b’e Babulooni okumubuuza ku byamagero ebyakolebwa mu nsi ye, Katonda n’amugeza alyoke ategeere byonna ebyali mu mutima gwe.
32 And the rest of the matters of Hezekiah and his kind acts, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, on the scroll of the kings of Judah and Israel.
Ebyafaayo ebirala ebyabaawo mu mirembe gya Keezeekiya, n’ebikolwa bye ebirungi eby’obunyiikivu, byawandiikibwa mu kwolesebwa kwa Isaaya nnabbi mutabani wa Amozi, mu kitabo kya bassekabaka ba Yuda ne Isirayiri.
33 And Hezekiah lies with his fathers, and they bury him in the highest of the graves of the sons of David, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem have done honor to him at his death, and his son Manasseh reigns in his stead.
Keezeekiya ne yeebakira wamu ne bajjajjaabe, n’aziikibwa mu masiro g’abazzukulu ba Dawudi, era Yuda yonna, n’abatuuze bonna aba Yerusaalemi ne bamukungubagira ne bamuwa ekitiibwa ne mu kufa kwe. Manase mutabani we n’amusikira.
