2 Chronicles 23
1 And in the seventh year Jehoiada has strengthened himself, and takes the heads of the hundreds, even Azariah son of Jeroham, and Ishmael son of Jehohanan, and Azariah son of Obed, and Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zichri, into the covenant with him.
En el séptimo año, Joiada se fortaleció y tomó en alianza con él a los jefes de centenas: Azarías hijo de Jeroham, Ismael hijo de Johanán, Azarías hijo de Obed, Maasías hijo de Adaías y Elisafat hijo de Zicri.
2 And they go around in Judah, and gather the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and heads of the fathers of Israel, and come to Jerusalem,
Ellos recorrieron Judá y reunieron a los levitas de todas las ciudades de Judá y a los jefes de familia de Israel, y llegaron a Jerusalén.
3 and all the assembly make a covenant in the house of God with the king, and he says to them, “Behold, the son of the king reigns, as YHWH spoke concerning the sons of David.
Toda la asamblea hizo un pacto con el rey en la casa de Dios. Joiada les dijo: “He aquí que el hijo del rey debe reinar, como Yahvé ha dicho respecto a los hijos de David.
4 This [is] the thing that you do: the third of you, going in on the Sabbath, of the priests, and of the Levites, [are] for gatekeepers of the thresholds,
Esto es lo que debéis hacer: una tercera parte de vosotros, los que entran en sábado, de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, serán guardianes de los umbrales.
5 and the third [are] at the house of the king, and the third at the Foundation Gate, and all the people [are] in the courts of the house of YHWH.
Una tercera parte estará en la casa del rey, y otra tercera parte en la puerta de la fundación. Todo el pueblo estará en los atrios de la casa de Yahvé.
6 And none enter the house of YHWH except the priests, and those ministering of the Levites (they go in for they [are] holy), and all the people keep the watch of YHWH;
Pero que nadie entre en la casa de Yahvé, sino los sacerdotes y los que ejercen el ministerio de los levitas. Ellos entrarán, porque son santos, pero todo el pueblo seguirá las instrucciones de Yahvé.
7 and the Levites have surrounded the king all around, each with his weapon in his hand, and he who has gone into the house is put to death; and be with the king in his coming in and in his going out.”
Los levitas rodearán al rey, cada uno con sus armas en la mano. El que entre en la casa, que lo maten. Acompañen al rey cuando entre y cuando salga”.
8 And the Levites and all Judah do according to all that Jehoiada the priest has commanded, and each takes his men going in on the Sabbath, with those going out on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priest has not let away the divisions.
Los levitas y todo Judá hicieron, pues, todo lo que mandó el sacerdote Joiada. Cada uno tomó a sus hombres, los que debían entrar en sábado, con los que debían salir en sábado, pues el sacerdote Joiada no despidió el turno.
9 And Jehoiada the priest gives to the heads of the hundreds the spears, and the shields, and the bucklers that [are] King David’s, that [are] in the house of God;
El sacerdote Joiada entregó a los capitanes de centenas las lanzas, las rodelas y los escudos que habían sido del rey David y que estaban en la casa de Dios.
10 and he stations the whole of the people, and each [with] his dart in his hand, from the right shoulder of the house to the left shoulder of the house, at the altar, and at the house, by the king, all around.
Puso a todo el pueblo, cada uno con su arma en la mano, desde el lado derecho de la casa hasta el lado izquierdo, cerca del altar y de la casa, alrededor del rey.
11 And they bring out the son of the king, and put the crown on him, and [give him] the Testimony, and cause him to reign; and Jehoiada and his sons anoint him, and say, “Let the king live!”
Entonces sacaron al hijo del rey, le pusieron la corona, le dieron la alianza y lo hicieron rey. Joiada y sus hijos lo ungieron, y dijeron: “¡Viva el rey!”.
12 And Athaliah hears the voice of the people who are running, and who are praising the king, and she comes to the people [in] the house of YHWH,
Cuando Atalía oyó el ruido del pueblo que corría y alababa al rey, entró con la gente en la casa de Yahvé.
13 and sees, and behold, the king is standing by his pillar in the entrance, and the heads, and the trumpets [are] by the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and shouting with trumpets, and the singers with instruments of song, and the teachers, to praise, and Athaliah tears her garments and says, “Conspiracy! Conspiracy!”
Entonces ella miró, y he aquí que el rey estaba de pie junto a su columna a la entrada, con los capitanes y los trompetistas junto al rey. Todo el pueblo del país se alegró y tocó las trompetas. Los cantores también tocaban instrumentos musicales y dirigían los cantos de alabanza. Entonces Atalía se rasgó las vestiduras y dijo: “¡Traición! ¡Traición!”
14 And Jehoiada the priest brings out the heads of the hundreds, inspectors of the force, and says to them, “Take her out from within the rows, and he who has gone after her is put to death by the sword”; for the priest said, “Do not put her to death [in] the house of YHWH.”
El sacerdote Joiada sacó a los capitanes de centenas que estaban al frente del ejército y les dijo: “Sacadla entre las filas, y el que la siga, que lo maten a espada.” Porque el sacerdote dijo: “No la maten en la casa de Yahvé”.
15 And they make sides for her, and she comes to the entrance of the Horse Gate at the house of the king, and they put her to death there.
Así que le abrieron paso. Ella se dirigió a la entrada de la puerta de los caballos a la casa del rey; y allí la mataron.
16 And Jehoiada makes a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, to be for a people to YHWH;
Joiada hizo un pacto entre él, todo el pueblo y el rey, para que fueran pueblo de Yahvé.
17 and all the people enter the house of Ba‘al, and break it down, indeed, they have broken his altars and his images, and they have slain Mattan priest of Ba‘al before the altars.
Todo el pueblo fue a la casa de Baal, la derribó, rompió sus altares y sus imágenes en pedazos, y mató a Matán, el sacerdote de Baal, ante los altares.
18 And Jehoiada puts the offices of the house of YHWH into the hand of the priests, the Levites, whom David had apportioned over the house of YHWH, to cause the burnt-offerings of YHWH to ascend, as written in the Law of Moses, with joy, and with singing, by the hands of David;
Joiada designó a los funcionarios de la casa de Yahvé bajo la mano de los sacerdotes levitas, que David había distribuido en la casa de Yahvé, para que ofrecieran los holocaustos de Yahvé, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, con alegría y con cantos, tal como lo había ordenado David.
19 and he stations the gatekeepers over the gates of the house of YHWH, and the unclean in anything do not go in.
Puso a los porteros en las puertas de la casa de Yahvé, para que no entrara nadie impuro en nada.
20 And he takes the heads of the hundreds, and the majestic ones, and the rulers among the people, and all the people of the land, and brings down the king from the house of YHWH, and they come in through the high gate to the house of the king, and cause the king to sit on the throne of the kingdom.
Tomó a los jefes de centenas, a los nobles, a los gobernantes del pueblo y a toda la gente del país, e hizo bajar al rey de la casa de Yahvé. Entraron por la puerta superior a la casa del rey, y pusieron al rey en el trono del reino.
21 And all the people of the land rejoice, and the city has been quiet, and they have put Athaliah to death by the sword.
Entonces todo el pueblo del país se alegró, y la ciudad se tranquilizó. Habían matado a Atalía con la espada.
