< 2 Chronicles 20 >

1 And it comes to pass after this, the sons of Moab have come in, and the sons of Ammon, and with them of the peoples, to battle against Jehoshaphat.

2 And [some] come in and declare [it] to Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude has come against you from beyond the sea, from Aram, and behold, they [are] in Hazezon-Tamar—it [is] En-Gedi.”
Te dongah a pha uh neh Jehoshaphat taengla puen uh tih, “Nang taengah tuipuei rhalvangan lamkah, Aram lamkah hlangping muep ha pawk. Amih tah Engedi Hazezontamar ah om uh coeng ke,” a ti nah.
3 And Jehoshaphat fears, and sets his face to seek for YHWH, and proclaims a fast over all Judah;
Tedae a rhih dongah BOEIPA te dawt hamla Jehoshaphat loh a maelhmai a hoi. Te phoeiah Judah pum hamla yaehnah hnin khaw a hoe pah.
4 and Judah is gathered to inquire of YHWH; also, from all the cities of Judah they have come to seek YHWH.
Te daengah BOEIPA lamkah te tlap hamla Judah rhoek coi uh thae tih Judah khopuei tom lamloh BOEIPA tlap hamla ha pawk.
5 And Jehoshaphat stands in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of YHWH, at the front of the new court,
Jehoshaphat tah Jerusalem, BOEIPA im, vongup thai hmai kah Judah hlangping lakli ah pai.
6 and says, “O YHWH, God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? Indeed, You are ruling over all kingdoms of the nations, and power and might [are] in Your hand, and there is none with You to station himself.
Te vaengah, “A pa rhoek kah Pathen Yahweh, vaan kah Pathen khaw namah moenih a? Namah loh namtom ram boeih na taemrhai. Na kut ah thadueng neh thayung thamal om tih nang aka pai thil thai a om moenih.
7 Are You not our God? You have dispossessed the inhabitants of this land from before Your people Israel, and give it to the seed of Your friend Abraham for all time,
Namah te kaimih kah Pathen moenih a? Khohmuen kah khosa rhoek he na pilnam Israel mikhmuh lamloh na haek tih na lungnah Abraham tiingan taengah kumhal duela na paek.
8 and they dwell in it, and build a sanctuary in it for You, for Your Name, saying,
A khuiah kho a sak uh tih a khuiah namah ham neh na ming hamla rhokso a sak uh.
9 If evil comes on us—sword, judgment, and pestilence, and famine—we stand before this house, and before You, for Your Name [is] in this house, and cry to You out of our distress, and You hear and save.
“Kaimih soah tholhphu yoethae cunghang, duektahaw, khokha a pai atah he im hmai ah ka pai uh tih, he im kah namah mikhmuh ah na ming neh ka pai uh ni. Kaimih kah citcai khuiah nang te kang khue uh vaengah na yaak vetih nan khang ni.
10 And now, behold, sons of Ammon, and Moab, and Mount Seir, whom You did not grant to Israel to go in against in their coming out of the land of Egypt, for they turned aside from off them and did not destroy them,
Tedae Ammon koca, Moab neh Seir tlang ke ne. Egypt khohmuen lamloh na coe uh vaengah amih taengla kun ham Israel te na paek moenih. Amih taeng lamloh a nong uh dongah khaw amih te a mitmoeng uh moenih.
11 and behold, they are repaying to us—to come to drive us out of Your possession that You have caused us to possess.
Te phoeiah amih loh kaimih haek ham neh kaimih taengah ha pawk hamla n'thuung uh coeng he. Te te na rho khui lamkah ni kaimih nan pang sak.
12 O our God, do You not execute judgment on them? For there is no power in us before this great multitude that has come against us, and we do not know what we do, but our eyes [are] on You.”
Kaimih kah Pathen aw, amih taengah lai na tloek mahpawt nim? Kaimih taengla aka pawk hlangping he yet mikhmuh ah kaimih he thadueng tal coeng. Kaimih loh metla ka saii uh ham ka ming pawt dae kaimih mik loh namah taengla hooi uh,” a ti.
13 And all Judah is standing before YHWH, also their infants, their wives, and their sons.
Te vaengah Judah boeih neh camoe rhoek khaw, a yuu rhoek khaw a ca rhoek khaw BOEIPA mikhmuh ah pai uh.
14 And the Spirit of YHWH has been on Jahaziel, son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly,
Zekhariah capa Jahaziel, Benaiah capa, Jeiel capa, Asaph koca lamkah Levi Mattaniah capa khaw pai. BOEIPA mueihla tah hlangping lakli ah anih soah a om pah.
15 and he says, “Attend, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and O King Jehoshaphat, Thus said YHWH to you: You do not fear, nor be afraid of the face of this great multitude, for the battle [is] not for you, but for God.
Te dongah, “Judah boeih neh Jerusalem khosa rhoek neh manghai Jehoshaphat, hnatung uh lah. BOEIPA loh nangmih taengah he ni a. thui. Nangmih loh rhih uh boeh. Hlangping he yet mikhmuh ah rhihyawp uh boeh. Caemtloek he nangmih kah pawt tih Pathen hut ni.
16 Tomorrow, go down against them, behold, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz, and you have found them in the end of the valley, the front of the wilderness of Jeruel.
Thangvuen ah amih te suntlak thil uh, amih tah Ziz kham ah cet uh coeng ke. Amih te Jeruel khosoek hmai kah soklong bawt ah na hmuh uh bitni.
17 [It is] not for you to fight in this; station yourselves, stand, and see the salvation of YHWH with you, O Judah and Jerusalem—do not be afraid nor fear—tomorrow go out before them, and YHWH [is] with you.”
Tahae kah vathoh ham he nangmih hut moenih, na pai cak sak uh lamtah nangmih ham BOEIPA kah khangnah te hmu uh. Judah neh Jerusalem aw rhih uh boeh rhihyawp uh boeh. Thangvuen ah amih mikhmuh la cet uh, nangmih taengah BOEIPA om,” a ti nah.
18 And Jehoshaphat bows—face to the earth—and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem have fallen before YHWH, to bow themselves to YHWH.
Jehoshaphat loh diklai la a maelhmai a buluk vaengah Judah pum neh Jerusalem kah khosa rhoek khaw BOEIPA te bawk hamla BOEIPA mikhmuh ah ba kop uh.
19 And the Levites, of the sons of the Kohathites, and of the sons of the Korahites, rise to give praise to YHWH, God of Israel, with a loud voice on high.
Te phoeiah Kohathi koca lamkah Levi rhoek neh Korah koca lamkah khaw Israel Pathen BOEIPA taengah thangthen hamla thoo uh tih ol a len la a huel hang uh.
20 And they rise early in the morning, and go out to the wilderness of Tekoa, and in their going out Jehoshaphat has stood and says, “Hear me, O Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, remain steadfast in your God YHWH, and be steadfast; remain steadfast in His prophets and prosper.”
Te phoeiah mincang ah thoo uh tih Tekoa khosoek la pawk uh. Amih a hlah uh vaengah Jehoshaphat te pai tih, “Judah neh Jerusalem khosa rhoek kai ol he hnatun uh. Na Pathen BOEIPA te tangnah. A tonghma rhoek te uepom la tangnah lamtah thaihtak uh lah,” a ti.
21 And he takes counsel with the people, and appoints singers for YHWH, and those giving praise for the honor of holiness, in the going out before the armed [men], and saying, “Give thanks to YHWH, for His kindness [is] for all time.”
Pilnam a uen phoeiah tah BOEIPA te aka hlai la, hmuencim kah rhuepomnah te aka thangthen la, aka pumcum uh kah a hmai ah cet tih, “A sitlohnah kumhal ham dongah BOEIPA te uem uh,” aka ti la a khueh.
22 And at the time they have begun with singing and praise, YHWH has put ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who are coming in to Judah, and they are struck,
A tue te tamlung neh koehnah neh a tong uh. BOEIPA loh Moab kah Ammon koca rhoek neh Judah la aka pawk rhoek te Seir tlang ah rhongngol a khueh thil dongah yawk uh.
23 and the sons of Ammon stand up, and Moab, against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, to devote and to destroy, and at their finishing with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped, a man against his neighbor, to destroy.
Ammon koca rhoek neh Moab loh Seir tlang kah khosa rhoek te thup ham neh mitmoeng sak ham thoo uh. Seir khosa rhoek te a khah uh phoeiah tah hlang loh amah hui te kutcaihnah hamla bom uh thae.
24 And Judah has come to the watchtower in the wilderness, and they look toward the multitude, and behold, they [are] carcasses fallen to the earth, and none [had] an escape,
Judah te khosoek kah rhaltoengim la pawk tih hlangping taengla mael. Tedae amih te diklai ah a rhok la tarha a yalh pah tih rhalyong om pawh.
25 and Jehoshaphat comes in, and his people, to seize their spoil, and they find among them, in abundance, both goods and carcasses, and desirable vessels, and they take spoil for themselves without prohibition, and they are seizing the spoil [for] three days, for it [is] abundant.
Te dongah Jehoshaphat neh a pilnam tah amih kah kutbuem te poelyoe hamla cet. Te vaengah amih taengah khuehtawn khaw rhok khaw, naikap hnopai khaw, a cungkuem la a hmuh uh tih hnophueih a tloel nah hil amamih ham a pit uh. Te te a yet dongah kutbuem a poelyoe uh te hnin thum koe uh.
26 And on the fourth day they have been assembled at the Valley of Blessing, for there they blessed YHWH: therefore they have called the name of that place, “Valley of Blessing,” to this day.
A hnin li dongah tah Berakah kol ah tingtun uh tih BOEIPA te pahoi a uum uh. Te dongah te hmuen ming te tihnin hil Berakah kol la a khue uh.
27 And they return, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat at their head, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for YHWH has made them rejoice over their enemies.
Te phoeiah Judah neh Jerusalem hlang boeih te mael uh. BOEIPA loh amih te a thunkha rhoek soah ko a hoe sak dongah Jehoshaphat tah amih hmai ah Jerusalem la kohoenah neh mael.
28 And they come to Jerusalem with psalteries, and with harps, and with trumpets, to the house of YHWH.
Jerusalem la a kun vaengah thangpa neh, rhotoeng neh, olueng neh BOEIPA im la kunuh.
29 And there is a fear of God on all kingdoms of the lands in their hearing that YHWH has fought with the enemies of Israel,
Israel kah thunkha taengah BOEIPA loh a vathoh thil te a yaak vaengah diklai ram boeih te Pathen taengah birhihnah om.
30 and the kingdom of Jehoshaphat is quiet, and his God gives rest to him all around.
Te dongah a Pathen loh anih te a kaepvai taengah a duem sak tih Jehoshaphat ram khaw mong.
31 And Jehoshaphat reigns over Judah, a son of thirty-five years in his reigning, and he has reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Azubah daughter of Shilhi.
Te dongah Jehoshaphat te sawmthum kum nga a lo ca vaengah Judah ah manghai coeng. A manghai vaengah Jerusalem ah kum kum kul neh kum nga manghai tih a manu ming tah Shilhi canu Azubah ni.
32 And he walks in the way of his father Asa, and has not turned aside from it, to do that which is right in the eyes of YHWH.
A napa Asa kah longpuei ah pongpa tih te lamkah te phael pawh. BOEIPA mikhmuh ah a thuem a saii.
33 Only, the high places have not been removed, and still the people have not prepared their heart for the God of their fathers.
Tedae hmuensang te khoe uh pawh. Pilnam loh a thinko te a napa rhoek kah Pathen taengah a cikngae mueh la om pueng.
34 And the rest of the matters of Jehoshaphat, the first and the last, behold, they are written among the matters of Jehu son of Hanani, who has been mentioned on the scroll of the kings of Israel.
Jehoshaphat kah ol noi khaw a kung neh a dong khaw Hanani capa Jehu kah olka khuiah a daek uh coeng ke. Te te Israel manghai rhoek kah cabu khuiah khaw a hlum.
35 And after this Jehoshaphat king of Judah has joined himself with Ahaziah king of Israel (he did wickedly in doing [this]),
Tedae a hnukah tah Judah manghai Jehoshaphat te Israel manghai Ahaziah neh cong uh rhoi tih a saii khaw poehlip.
36 and he joins him with himself to make ships to go to Tarshish, and they make ships in Ezion-Geber,
Te vaengah amah neh amah te sangpho sak ham neh Tarshish la caeh ham patai uh rhoi tih Eziongeber ah sangpho a saii rhoi.
37 and Eliezer son of Dodavah, of Mareshah, prophesies against Jehoshaphat, saying, “For your joining yourself with Ahaziah, YHWH has broken up your works”; and the ships are broken, and have not retained [power] to go to Tarshish.
Te vaengah Mareshah lamkah Dodavahu capa Eliezer loh Jehoshaphat te a tonghma thil tih, “Ahaziah neh na patai uh rhoi dongah na bibi te BOEIPA loh a phae ni,” a ti nah. Te dongah sangpho te rhek tih Tarshish la caeh ham coeng rhoi voel pawh.
