2 Chronicles 19
1 And Jehoshaphat king of Judah turns back to his house in peace, to Jerusalem,
Josaphat, roi de Juda, revint sain et sauf dans sa maison, à Jérusalem.
2 and Jehu son of Hanani the seer goes out to his presence and says to King Jehoshaphat, “Do you love to give help to the wicked and to those hating YHWH? And for this, wrath [is] against you from before YHWH,
Mais Jéhu, fils de Hanani, le Voyant, sortit au-devant du roi Josaphat, et lui dit: Est-ce le méchant qu'il faut aider? Sont-ce les ennemis de l'Éternel que tu aimes? A cause de cela, l'Éternel est irrité contre toi.
3 but good things have been found with you, for you have put away the Asheroth out of the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God.”
Mais il s'est trouvé de bonnes choses en toi, car tu as ôté du pays les emblèmes d'Ashéra, et tu as appliqué ton cœur à rechercher Dieu.
4 And Jehoshaphat dwells in Jerusalem, and he turns back and goes out among the people from Beer-Sheba to the hill-country of Ephraim, and brings them back to YHWH, God of their fathers.
Et Josaphat habita à Jérusalem. Puis, de nouveau, il sortit parmi le peuple, depuis Béer-Shéba jusqu'à la montagne d'Éphraïm, et il les ramena à l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères.
5 And he establishes judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, for every city,
Il établit aussi des juges dans le pays, dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda, dans chaque ville.
6 and says to the ones judging, “See what you are doing—for you do not judge for man, but for YHWH, who [is] with you in the matter of judgment;
Et il dit aux juges: Regardez à ce que vous ferez; car ce n'est pas pour l'homme que vous jugerez, mais pour l'Éternel, qui sera avec vous quand vous jugerez.
7 and now, let fear of YHWH be on you, observe and do, for there is not perverseness with our God YHWH, and favoring by appearance, and taking of a bribe.”
Maintenant, que la crainte de l'Éternel soit sur vous; prenez garde à ce que vous ferez; car il n'y a point d'iniquité dans l'Éternel notre Dieu, ni d'acception de personnes, ni d'acceptation de présents.
8 And also in Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat has appointed of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the heads of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of YHWH, and for strife; and they return to Jerusalem,
Josaphat établit aussi à Jérusalem des Lévites, et des sacrificateurs, et des chefs des pères d'Israël, pour le jugement de l'Éternel, et pour les contestations. Et on revint à Jérusalem.
9 and he lays a charge on them, saying, “Thus do you do in the fear of YHWH, in faithfulness, and with a perfect heart,
Et il leur donna des ordres, en disant: Vous agirez ainsi dans la crainte de l'Éternel, avec fidélité et avec intégrité de cœur.
10 and any strife that comes to you of your brothers who are dwelling in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and command, statutes, and judgments, then you have warned them and they do not become guilty before YHWH, and wrath has not been on you and on your brothers; thus do you do, and you are not guilty.
Et pour les différends qui viendront devant vous, de la part de vos frères qui habitent dans leurs villes, qu'il s'agisse d'un meurtre, d'une loi, d'un commandement, de statuts ou d'ordonnances, vous les éclairerez, afin qu'ils ne se rendent pas coupables envers l'Éternel, et qu'il n'y ait point de courroux sur vous et sur vos frères. Vous agirez ainsi, et vous ne serez point trouvés coupables.
11 And behold, Amariah the head priest [is] over you for every matter of YHWH, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael, the leader of the house of Judah, [is] for every matter of the king, and the Levites [are] officers before you; be strong and do, and YHWH is with the good.”
Et voici, Amaria, le principal sacrificateur, est préposé sur vous pour toutes les affaires de l'Éternel, et Zébadia, fils d'Ismaël, prince de la maison de Juda, pour toutes les affaires du roi; et pour secrétaires vous avez devant vous les Lévites. Fortifiez-vous et agissez; et que l'Éternel soit avec l'homme de bien!
