1 Thessalonians 5
1 And concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need of my writing to you,
Az időpontokról és alkalmakról pedig, atyámfiai, nem szükséges írnom,
2 for you have thoroughly known that the Day of the LORD so comes as a thief in the night,
mert igen jól tudjátok, hogy az Úr napja úgy jön el, mint a tolvaj éjjel.
3 for when they may say, “Peace and security,” then sudden destruction comes [on] them, as the travail [on] her who is with child, and they will not escape;
Mert amikor ezt mondják: „Békesség és biztonság“, akkor hirtelen veszedelem tör rájuk, mint a szülési fájdalom a terhes asszonyra, és semmiképpen meg nem menekülnek.
4 but you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day may catch you as a thief;
De ti, atyámfiai, nem vagytok sötétségben, hogy az a nap tolvajmódra lephetne meg titeket.
5 you are all sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,
Ti mindnyájan a világosság fiai vagytok, és a nappal fiai; nem vagyunk az éjszakáé, sem a sötétségé!
6 so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,
Ne is aludjunk tehát, mint a többiek, hanem legyünk éberek és józanok.
7 for those sleeping, sleep by night, and those making themselves drunk, are drunken by night,
Mert akik alusznak, éjjel alusznak, és akik részegek, éjjel részegednek meg.
8 and we, being of the day—let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and a helmet—a hope of salvation,
Mi azonban nappaliak vagyunk, legyünk tehát éberek, magunkra öltve a hitnek és szeretetnek mellvasát és sisakként az üdvösség reménységét.
9 because God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Mert Isten nem haragra rendelt minket, hanem arra, hogy elnyerjük az üdvösséget a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus által,
10 who died for us, that whether we wake—whether we sleep—we may live together with Him;
aki meghalt értünk, hogy akár ébren vagyunk, akár alszunk, együtt éljünk vele.
11 for this reason, comfort one another, and build up one another, as also you do.
Vigasztaljátok azért egymást, és építse egyik a másikat, ahogyan teszitek is.
12 And we ask you, brothers, to know those laboring among you and leading you in the LORD and admonishing you,
Kérünk titeket, atyámfiai, hogy becsüljétek meg azokat, akik fáradoznak közöttetek, és elöljáróitok az Úrban, és intenek titeket,
13 and to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;
és az ő munkájukért nagyon szeressétek őket. Egymással békességben éljetek!
14 and we exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be patient to all;
Kérünk továbbá titeket, atyámfiai, intsétek azokat, akik nem vállalják Isten rendjét, bátorítsátok a csüggedőket, gyámolítsátok az erőtleneket, türelmesek legyetek mindenki iránt.
15 see [that] no one may render evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue that which is good, both to one another and to all;
Vigyázzatok, hogy senki senkinek rosszért rosszal ne fizessen, hanem mindenkor a jóra törekedjetek egymás iránt és mindenki iránt.
16 always rejoice;
Mindenkor örüljetek!
17 continually pray;
Szüntelen imádkozzatok!
18 give thanks in everything, for this [is] the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.
Mindenért hálát adjatok, mert ez az Isten akarata a Krisztus Jézus által a számotokra.
19 Do not quench the Spirit;
A Lelket ki ne oltsátok!
20 do not despise prophesyings;
A prófétálást meg ne vessétek!
21 prove all things; hold fast [to] that which is good;
Mindent vizsgáljatok meg, és ami jó, azt megtartsátok!
22 abstain from all appearance of evil;
Mindenféle rossztól őrizkedjetek!
23 and may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved, unblameably at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Maga pedig a békesség Istene szenteljen meg titeket teljesen, és őrizze meg egész valótokat, mind lelketeket, mind testeteket feddhetetlenül a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus eljövetelére.
24 He who is calling you is steadfast, who also will do [it].
Hű az, aki elhívott titeket, és ő meg is cselekszi azt.
25 Brothers, pray for us.
Atyámfiai, imádkozzatok értünk!
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
Köszöntsetek minden atyafit szent csókkal.
27 I charge you [by] the LORD, that the letter be read to all the holy brothers.
Kérve kérlek titeket az Úr nevében, hogy olvassátok fel ezt a levelet minden atyafi előtt.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you! Amen.
A mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus kegyelme legyen veletek! Ámen.
