1 Thessalonians 5
1 And concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need of my writing to you,
| ܥܠ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܘܥܕܢܐ ܐܚܝ ܠܐ ܤܢܝܩܝܬܘܢ ܠܡܟܬܒ ܠܟܘܢ |
2 for you have thoroughly known that the Day of the LORD so comes as a thief in the night,
| ܐܢܬܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܘܡܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܐܝܟ ܓܢܒܐ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܬܐ |
3 for when they may say, “Peace and security,” then sudden destruction comes [on] them, as the travail [on] her who is with child, and they will not escape;
| ܟܕ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܕܫܠܡܐ ܗܘ ܘܫܝܢܐ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܡܢܫܠܝܐ ܢܩܘܡ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܐܒܕܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܚܒܠܐ ܥܠ ܒܛܢܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܡܕܘܢ |
4 but you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the Day may catch you as a thief;
| ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܚܝ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܒܚܫܘܟܐ ܕܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܐܝܟ ܓܢܒܐ ܢܕܪܟܟܘܢ |
5 you are all sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,
| ܟܠܟܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܒܢܝ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܒܢܝ ܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܠܠܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܢܝ ܚܫܘܟܐ |
6 so, then, we may not sleep as also the others, but watch and be sober,
| ܠܐ ܢܕܡܟ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܝܟ ܫܪܟܐ ܐܠܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܥܝܪܝܢ ܘܡܗܘܢܝܢ |
7 for those sleeping, sleep by night, and those making themselves drunk, are drunken by night,
| ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܕܡܟܝܢ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܟܝܢ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܪܘܝܢ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܗܘ ܪܘܝܢ |
8 and we, being of the day—let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and a helmet—a hope of salvation,
| ܚܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܒܢܝ ܐܝܡܡܐ ܚܢܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܥܝܪܝܢ ܒܪܥܝܢܢ ܘܠܒܝܫܝܢ ܫܪܝܢܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܕܚܘܒܐ ܘܢܤܝܡ ܤܢܘܪܬܐ ܕܤܒܪܐ ܕܚܝܐ |
9 because God did not appoint us to anger, but to the acquiring of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
| ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܤܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܪܘܓܙܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܩܢܝܢܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܒܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ |
10 who died for us, that whether we wake—whether we sleep—we may live together with Him;
| ܗܘ ܕܡܝܬ ܥܠ ܐܦܝܢ ܕܐܢ ܥܝܪܝܢܢ ܘܐܢ ܕܡܟܝܢܢ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܥܡܗ ܢܚܐ |
11 for this reason, comfort one another, and build up one another, as also you do.
| ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܒܝܐܘ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܘܒܢܘ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܥܒܕܝܬܘܢ |
12 And we ask you, brothers, to know those laboring among you and leading you in the LORD and admonishing you,
| ܒܥܝܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܕܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐܝܢ ܒܟܘܢ ܘܩܝܡܝܢ ܒܐܦܝܟܘܢ ܒܡܪܢ ܘܡܠܦܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ |
13 and to esteem them very abundantly in love, because of their work; be at peace among yourselves;
| ܕܗܘܘ ܚܫܝܒܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܚܘܒܐ ܝܬܝܪܐ ܘܡܛܠ ܥܒܕܗܘܢ ܐܫܬܝܢܘ ܥܡܗܘܢ |
14 and we exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be patient to all;
| ܒܥܝܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܪܕܘ ܠܡܤܟܠܢܐ ܘܠܒܒܘ ܠܙܥܘܪܝ ܢܦܫܐ ܘܤܒܘ ܛܥܢܐ ܕܡܚܝܠܐ ܘܐܓܪܘ ܪܘܚܟܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܟܠܢܫ |
15 see [that] no one may render evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue that which is good, both to one another and to all;
| ܘܐܙܕܗܪܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܚܠܦ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܢܦܪܘܥ ܐܠܐ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܗܪܛܘ ܒܬܪ ܛܒܬܐ ܠܘܬ ܚܕܕܐ ܘܠܘܬ ܟܠܢܫ |
16 always rejoice;
| ܗܘܘ ܚܕܝܢ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ |
17 continually pray;
| ܘܡܨܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܫܠܘܐ |
18 give thanks in everything, for this [is] the will of God in Christ Jesus in regard to you.
| ܘܒܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܗܘܘ ܡܘܕܝܢ ܗܢܘ ܓܝܪ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܒܟܘܢ |
19 Do not quench the Spirit;
| ܪܘܚܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܥܟܘܢ |
20 do not despise prophesyings;
| ܢܒܝܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܤܠܘܢ |
21 prove all things; hold fast [to] that which is good;
| ܟܠܡܕܡ ܒܩܘ ܘܕܫܦܝܪ ܐܚܘܕܘ |
22 abstain from all appearance of evil;
| ܘܡܢ ܟܠ ܨܒܘ ܒܝܫܐ ܥܪܘܩܘ |
23 and may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved, unblameably at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;
| ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܫܠܡܐ ܢܩܕܫܟܘܢ ܓܡܝܪܐܝܬ ܠܟܠܟܘܢ ܘܟܠܗ ܪܘܚܟܘܢ ܘܢܦܫܟܘܢ ܘܦܓܪܟܘܢ ܢܢܛܪ ܕܠܐ ܪܫܝܢ ܠܡܐܬܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ |
24 He who is calling you is steadfast, who also will do [it].
| ܡܗܝܡܢ ܗܘ ܡܢ ܕܩܪܟܘܢ ܕܗܘ ܢܥܒܕ |
25 Brothers, pray for us.
| ܐܚܝ ܨܠܘ ܥܠܝܢ |
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
| ܫܐܠܘ ܒܫܠܡܐ ܕܐܚܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܘܫܩܬܐ ܩܕܝܫܬܐ |
27 I charge you [by] the LORD, that the letter be read to all the holy brothers.
| ܡܘܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܡܪܢ ܕܬܬܩܪܐ ܐܓܪܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܚܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ |
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [is] with you! Amen.
| ܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܡܝܢ |
