1 Samuel 7
1 And the men of Kirjath-Jearim come and bring up the Ark of YHWH, and bring it into the house of Abinadab, in the height, and they have sanctified his son Eleazar to keep the Ark of YHWH.
Da kamen die Leute von Kirjath Jearim und holten die Lade Jahwes hinauf; und zwar brachten sie sie in das Haus Abinadabs auf der Anhöhe und weihten seinen Sohn Eleasar dazu, daß er die Lade Jahwes hüte.
2 And it comes to pass, from the day of the dwelling of the Ark in Kirjath-Jearim, that the days are multiplied—indeed, they are twenty years—and all the house of Israel wails after YHWH.
Seitdem nun die Lade in Kirjath Jearim weilte, verging eine lange Zeit, es verflossen zwanzig Jahre; da wandte sich das ganze Haus Israel Jahwe zu.
3 And Samuel speaks to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you are turning back to YHWH with all your heart—turn aside the gods of the stranger from your midst, and Ashtaroth; and prepare your heart for YHWH, and serve Him only, and He delivers you out of the hand of the Philistines.”
Samuel aber sprach zum ganzen Hause Israel also: Falls ihr euch von ganzem Herzen zu Jahwe zurückwenden wollt, so entfernt aus eurer Mitte die ausländischen Götter und die Astarten und richtet euren Sinn auf Jahwe, daß ihr ihn allein verehrt, - so wird er euch aus der Gewalt der Philister befreien.
4 And the sons of Israel turn aside the Ba‘alim and Ashtaroth, and serve YHWH alone;
Da entfernten die Israeliten die Baale und Astarten und verehrten Jahwe allein.
5 and Samuel says, “Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I pray to YHWH for you.”
Darauf gebot Samuel: Versammelt ganz Israel nach Mizpa, so will ich für euch zu Jahwe beten!
6 And they are gathered to Mizpeh, and draw water, and pour out before YHWH, and fast on that day, and say there, “We have sinned against YHWH”; and Samuel judges the sons of Israel in Mizpeh.
Da versammelten sie sich in Mizpa und schöpften Wasser und gossen es vor Jahwe aus und fasteten an jenem Tag und bekannten dort: Wir haben gegen Jahwe gesündigt! Und Samuel sprach den Israeliten Recht in Mizpa.
7 And the Philistines hear that the sons of Israel have gathered themselves to Mizpeh; and the princes of the Philistines go up against Israel, and the sons of Israel hear, and are afraid of the presence of the Philistines.
Als aber die Philister hörten, daß sich die Israeliten in Mizpa versammelt hatten, zogen die Fürsten der Philister gegen Israel heran. Als die Israeliten dies vernahmen, gerieten sie in Furcht vor den Philistern;
8 And the sons of Israel say to Samuel, “Do not keep silent for us from crying to our God YHWH, and He saves us out of the hand of the Philistines.”
und die Israeliten baten Samuel: Versage dich uns nicht, daß du nicht zu Jahwe, unserem Gotte, flehen solltest, daß er uns aus der Gewalt der Philister befreie!
9 And Samuel takes a fat lamb, and causes it to go up—a whole burnt-offering to YHWH; and Samuel cries to YHWH for Israel, and YHWH answers him;
Da nahm Samuel ein Milchlamm und brachte es Jahwe als Brandopfer - und Jahwe erhörte ihn.
10 and Samuel is causing the burnt-offering to go up—and the Philistines have drawn near to battle against Israel—and YHWH thunders with a great noise, on that day, on the Philistines, and troubles them, and they are struck before Israel.
Während nun Samuel eben das Brandopfer darbrachte, waren die Philister nahe herangerückt zum Kampfe mit Israel. Jahwe aber donnerte an jenem Tage mit gewaltigem Schalle wider die Philister und setzte sie in Verwirrung, daß sie Israel unterlagen.
11 And the men of Israel go out from Mizpeh, and pursue the Philistines, and strike them to the place of Beth-Car.
Die Männer Israels aber rückten von Mizpa aus, verfolgten die Philister und richteten unter ihnen eine Niederlage an bis unterhalb von Bethkar.
12 And Samuel takes a stone, and sets [it] between Mizpeh and Shen, and calls its name Eben-Ezer, saying, “Until now YHWH has helped us.”
Samuel aber nahm einen großen Stein und stellte ihn zwischen Mizpa und Jeschana auf. Und er nannte ihn Eben Ha-eser und sprach: Bis hierher hat uns Jahwe Hilfe geleistet!
13 And the Philistines are humbled, and have not added anymore to come into the border of Israel, and the hand of YHWH is on the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
So waren denn die Philister niedergeworfen, so daß sie fernerhin nicht mehr in das Gebiet Israels eindrangen, sondern Jahwes Hand lag auf den Philistern, so lange Samuel lebte.
14 And the cities which the Philistines have taken from Israel are restored to Israel—from Ekron even to Gath—and Israel has delivered their border out of the hand of the Philistines; and there is peace between Israel and the Amorite.
Die Städte aber, welche die Philister Israel weggenommen hatten, kamen an Israel zurück, von Ekron bis Gath; auch das zu ihnen gehörende Gebiet entriß Israel den Händen der Philister. Und es ward Friede zwischen Israel und den Amoritern.
15 And Samuel judges Israel all the days of his life,
Samuel aber übte das Richteramt über Israel sein Lebelang aus,
16 and he has gone from year to year, and gone around Beth-El, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel [in] all these places;
und zwar wanderte er Jahr für Jahr umher und besuchte Bethel und Gilgal und Mizpa und sprach Israel an allen diesen Stätten Recht.
17 and his returning [is] to Ramath, for his house [is] there, and he has judged Israel there, and he builds an altar to YHWH there.
Dann kehrte er nach Rama zurück, denn da wohnte er und da sprach er Israel Recht. Und er errichtete daselbst Jahwe einen Altar.
