1 Samuel 6
1 And the Ark of YHWH is in the field of the Philistines [for] seven months,
El Arca de Yavé permaneció siete meses en el campo de los filisteos.
2 and the Philistines call for priests and for diviners, saying, “What do we do to the Ark of YHWH? Let us know with what we send it to its place.”
Entonces los filisteos convocaron a sus sacerdotes y adivinos y les preguntaron: ¿Qué hacemos con el Arca de Yavé? Dígannos de qué manera la debemos enviar a su lugar.
3 And they say, “If you are sending the Ark of the God of Israel away, you do not send it away empty; for you certainly send back a guilt-offering to Him; then you are healed, and it has been known to you why His hand does not turn aside from you.”
Y respondieron: Si envían el Arca del ʼElohim de Israel, no la envíen vacía, sino ciertamente deben devolverle a Él una ofrenda por la culpa, y entonces serán sanados. De esta manera sabrán por qué su mano no se apartó de sobre ustedes.
4 And they say, “What [is] the guilt-offering which we send back to Him?” And they say, “The number of the princes of the Philistines—five golden lumps, and five golden muroids—for one plague [is] to you all, and to your princes,
Y ellos preguntaron: ¿Cuál será la ofrenda por la culpa que le debemos enviar? Y respondieron: Cinco tumores de oro y cinco ratones de oro, según el número de los jefes de los filisteos, por cuanto una misma plaga estuvo sobre todos ustedes y sus jefes.
5 and you have made images of your lumps, and images of your muroids that are corrupting the land, and have given glory to the God of Israel; it may be [that] He lightens His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land;
Por tanto, hagan figuras de sus tumores y de los ratones que destruyen la tierra, y den gloria al ʼElohim de Israel. Tal vez alivie su mano de sobre ustedes, sus ʼelohim, y su tierra.
6 and why do you harden your heart as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their heart? Do they not—when He has rolled Himself on them—send them away, and they go?
¿Por qué endurecen sus corazones, como los egipcios y Faraón endurecieron sus corazones? Después que él se burló de ellos, ¿no los dejaron ir, y salieron?
7 And now, take and make one new cart, and two suckling cows, on which a yoke has not gone up, and you have bound the cows in the cart, and caused their young ones to turn back from after them to the house,
Ahora pues, tomen y preparen un carruaje nuevo y dos vacas que estén criando, sobre las cuales no se haya puesto ningún yugo. Sujeten las vacas al carruaje y dejen sus becerros en el establo lejos de ellas.
8 and you have taken the Ark of YHWH, and put it on the cart, and the vessels of gold which you have returned to Him—a guilt-offering—you put in a coffer on its side, and have sent it away, and it has gone;
Después tomen el Arca de Yavé y pónganla en el carruaje. Y pondrán en una caja al lado de ella los objetos de oro que le devuelven como ofrenda por la culpa. Y dejarán que [el Arca] se vaya.
9 and you have seen if it goes up the way of its own border, to Beth-Shemesh—He has done this great evil to us; and if not, then we have known that His hand has not come against us; it has been an accident to us.”
Observen, si sube por el camino de su territorio hacia Bet-semes, [entendemos que] Él nos hizo este gran mal. Pero si no, entonces sabremos que no fue su mano la que nos golpeó, sino que nos ocurrió por accidente.
10 And the men do so, and take two suckling cows, and bind them in the cart, and they shut up their young ones in the house;
Y aquellos hombres lo hicieron así: Tomaron dos vacas que estaban criando, las sujetaron al carruaje y encerraron sus becerros en el establo.
11 and they place the Ark of YHWH on the cart, and the coffer, and the golden muroids, and the images of their lumps.
Luego pusieron el Arca de Yavé en el carruaje, junto con la caja de los ratones de oro y las figuras de sus tumores.
12 And the cows go straight in the way, on the way to Beth-Shemesh, they have gone in one highway, going and lowing, and have not turned aside right or left; and the princes of the Philistines are going after them to the border of Beth-Shemesh.
Las vacas se encaminaron por el camino de Bet-semes, y seguían un camino recto, andaban y bramaban sin apartarse ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda. Los jefes de los filisteos fueron tras ellas hasta el límite de Bet-semes.
13 And the Beth-Shemeshites are reaping their wheat-harvest in the valley, and they lift up their eyes, and see the Ark, and rejoice to see [it].
Los de Bet-semes cosechaban el trigo en el valle, y al levantar sus ojos, vieron el Arca y se regocijaron al verla.
14 And the cart has come into the field of Joshua the Beth-Shemeshite, and stands there, and there [is] a great stone, and they cleave the wood of the cart, and they have caused the cows to ascend [as] a burnt-offering to YHWH.
El carruaje llegó al campo de Josué de Bet-semes, y se detuvo allí, donde había una gran piedra. Ellos entonces cortaron la madera del carruaje, y ofrecieron las vacas en holocausto a Yavé.
15 And the Levites have taken down the Ark of YHWH, and the coffer which [is] with it, in which [are] the vessels of gold, and place [them] on the great stone; and the men of Beth-Shemesh have caused burnt-offerings to ascend and sacrifice sacrifices in that day to YHWH;
Levitas bajaron el Arca de Yavé y la caja que estaba a su lado, que tenía adentro los objetos de oro, y los pusieron sobre aquella gran piedra. Aquel día los hombres de Bet-semes ofrecieron holocaustos y sacrificios a Yavé.
16 and the five princes of the Philistines have seen [it], and return [to] Ekron, on that day.
Cuando los cinco jefes de los filisteos vieron esto, regresaron a Ecrón aquel mismo día.
17 And these [are] the golden lumps which the Philistines have sent back—a guilt-offering to YHWH: one for Ashdod, one for Gaza, one for Ashkelon, one for Gath, one for Ekron;
Los tumores de oro que los filisteos pagaron a Yavé como ofrenda por la culpa, fueron estos: uno por Asdod, uno por Gaza, uno por Ascalón, uno por Gat y uno por Ecrón.
18 and the golden muroids—the number of all the cities of the Philistines, for the five princes, from the fortified city even to a village of the open place, and to the great stone [[or great meadow]] on which they placed the Ark of YHWH—[are] in the field of Joshua the Beth-Shemeshite to this day.
Los ratones de oro eran según el número de todas las ciudades de los filisteos pertenecientes a los cinco jefes, tanto ciudades fortificadas como pueblos sin muro. La gran piedra sobre la cual pusieron el Arca de Yavé, permanece en el campo de Josué de Bet-semes hasta hoy.
19 And He strikes among the men of Beth-Shemesh, for they looked into the Ark of YHWH, indeed, He strikes seventy men [out] of fifty thousand men [[or fifty thousand and seventy men]] among the people; and the people mourn, because YHWH struck among the people [with] a great striking.
Pero Él castigó a algunos de los hombres de Bet-semes porque miraron dentro del Arca de Yavé. De todo el pueblo mató a 50.070 hombres, y el pueblo hizo duelo porque Yavé lo castigó con gran mortandad.
20 And the men of Beth-Shemesh say, “Who is able to stand before YHWH, this holy God? And to whom does He go up from us?”
Entonces los hombres de Bet-semes dijeron: ¿Quién podrá permanecer en pie delante de Yavé, el ʼElohim santo? ¿A quién subirá desde nosotros?
21 And they send messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath-Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have sent back the Ark of YHWH; come down, take it up with you.”
Y enviaron mensajeros a los habitantes de Quiriat-jearim y dijeron: ¡Los filisteos devolvieron el Arca de Yavé! Bajen, y súbanla al lugar de ustedes.
