1 Samuel 27
1 And David says to his heart, “Now I am consumed by the hand of Saul one day; there is nothing better for me than that I diligently escape to the land of the Philistines, and Saul has been despairing of me—of seeking me anymore in all the border of Israel, and I have escaped out of his hand.”
Đa-vít nghĩ thầm: “Rồi sẽ có ngày Sau-lơ hại được ta. Chi bằng ta trốn sang đất Phi-li-tin, để khi Sau-lơ tìm mãi trong nước không thấy, sẽ chán nản, bỏ cuộc và ta được thoát nạn.”
2 And David rises, and passes over, he and six hundred men who [are] with him, to Achish son of Maoch king of Gath;
Vậy, Đa-vít cùng 600 thuộc hạ đi đến Gát sống với A-kích, con của Ma-óc, vua Gát.
3 and David dwells with Achish in Gath, he and his men, each one with his household, [even] David and his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelitess.
Đa-vít cùng các thuộc hạ và gia quyến sống với A-kích tại Gát. Hai vợ Đa-vít là A-hi-nô-am, người Gít-rê-ên và A-bi-ga-in, người Cát-mên, vợ góa của Na-banh, đều theo ông.
4 And it is declared to Saul that David has fled to Gath, and he has not added to seek him anymore.
Khi nghe tin Đa-vít chạy đến đất Gát, Sau-lơ thôi không săn đuổi nữa.
5 And David says to Achish, “Now if I have found grace in your eyes, they give a place to me in one of the cities of the field, and I dwell there, indeed, why does your servant dwell in the royal city with you?”
Đa-vít nói với A-kích: “Nếu vua thương tình, xin cho chúng tôi đến ở một tỉnh miền quê, chứ chúng tôi không đáng ở giữa đế đô thế này.”
6 And Achish gives Ziklag to him in that day, therefore Ziklag has been for the kings of Judah until this day.
A-kích cho Đa-vít ở Xiếc-lác (cho đến nay Xiếc-lác vẫn còn thuộc quyền các vua Giu-đa),
7 And the number of the days which David has dwelt in the field of the Philistines [is one year] of days and four months;
và họ ở đó với người Phi-li-tin một năm bốn tháng.
8 and David and his men go up, and they push toward the Geshurite, and the Gerizite, and the Amalekite (for they are inhabitants of the land from of old), as you come to Shur and to the land of Egypt,
Lúc ấy, Đa-vít thường dẫn thuộc hạ tấn công đột ngột các dân Ghê-sua, Ghiệt-xi, và A-ma-léc, là những dân từ lâu đời sống gần Su-rơ và rải rác cho đến biên giới Ai Cập.
9 and David has struck the land, and does not keep alive man and woman, and has taken sheep, and oxen, and donkeys, and camels, and garments, and turns back, and comes to Achish.
Mỗi lần tấn công nơi nào, Đa-vít không để một ai sống sót, nhưng bắt hết chiên, bò, lừa, lạc đà, và quần áo trước khi trở về nhà với Vua A-kích.
10 And Achish says, “To where have you pushed today?” And David says, “Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelite, and to the south of the Kenite.”
Nếu A-kích hỏi: “Hôm nay ông đi đánh miền nào?” Đa-vít trả lời: “Miền nam Giu-đa,” hoặc “Miền nam Giê-ra-mên,” hoặc “Miền nam đất Kê-nít.”
11 David keeps alive neither man nor woman, to bring in [word] to Gath, saying, “Lest they declare [it] against us, saying, Thus David has done, and thus [is] his custom all the days that he has dwelt in the fields of the Philistines.”
Nhưng không có ai sống sót đâu để đến Gát báo việc Đa-vít làm? Và suốt thời gian ở trong đất Phi-li-tin, ông cứ tiếp tục hành động như thế.
12 And Achish believes in David, saying, “He has made himself utterly abhorred among his people in Israel, and has been for a perpetual servant to me.”
A-kích vẫn tín nhiệm Đa-vít, vì nghĩ rằng: “Dân tộc nó chắc phải ghê tởm nó lắm rồi; và như thế, nó sẽ ở đây làm đầy tớ cho ta suốt đời!”
