< 1 Samuel 22 >

1 And David goes from there, and escapes to the cave of Adullam, and his brothers hear, and all the house of his father, and they go down to him there;
Ko ia naʻe ʻalu mei ai ʻa Tevita, pea hao ʻo hoko atu ki he ʻana ʻo ʻAtulami: pea ʻi he fanongo ki ai ʻa hono ngaahi kāinga mo e fale kotoa pē ʻo ʻene tamai, naʻa nau ʻalu hifo ai kiate ia.
2 and every man in distress gathers themselves to him, and every man who has an exactor, and every man bitter in soul, and he is for head over them, and there are about four hundred men with him.
Mo kinautolu kotoa pē naʻe mamahi, mo ia kotoa pē naʻe moʻua, mo ia kotoa pē naʻe loto mamahi, naʻa nau fakakātoa ʻakinautolu kiate ia; pea hoko ia ko e ʻeiki pule kiate kinautolu: pea naʻe ʻiate ia ʻae kau tangata ʻe toko fāngeau nai.
3 And David goes from there to Mizpeh of Moab and says to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come out with you, until I know what God does for me”;
Pea naʻe ʻalu ai ʻa Tevita ki Misipa ʻo Moape: pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia ki he tuʻi ʻo Moape, “ʻOku ou kole kiate koe tuku ke haʻu ʻeku tamai mo ʻeku faʻē, ke nofo kiate koe, ke ʻoua ke u hoko ʻo ʻilo ʻaia ʻe fai ʻe he ʻOtua maʻaku.”
4 and he leads them before the king of Moab, and they dwell with him all the days of David’s being in the fortress.
Pea naʻa ne ʻomi ʻakinaua ki he ʻao ʻoe tuʻi ʻo Moape: pea naʻa nau nonofo mo ia ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho kotoa pē naʻe nofo ai ʻa Tevita ʻi he ʻana.
5 And the prophet Gad says to David, “You do not abide in a fortress, go, and you have entered the land of Judah for yourself”; and David goes and enters the forest of Hareth.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe he palōfita ko Kata kia Tevita, “ʻOua naʻa ke nofo ʻi he ʻana; ʻalu, pea ke mole atu ki he fonua ʻo Siuta.” Pea naʻe ʻalu ʻa Tevita, pea hoko atu ki he vaoʻakau ʻo Halete.
6 And Saul hears that David has become known, and the men who [are] with him, and Saul is abiding in Gibeah, under the grove in Ramah, and his spear [is] in his hand, and all his servants [are] standing by him.
Pea kuo fanongo ʻa Saula kuo ʻilo ʻa Tevita mo e kau tangata naʻe ʻiate ia (pea naʻe nofo ʻa Saula ʻi Kipea ʻi he lolo ʻakau ʻi Lama, naʻe ʻi hono nima hono tao, pea tuʻu takatakai kiate ia ʻa ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki kotoa pē).
7 And Saul says to his servants who are standing by him, “Now hear, sons of Benjamin; does the son of Jesse also give fields and vineyards to all of you? Does he appoint all of you [to be] heads of thousands and heads of hundreds?
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Saula ki heʻene kau tamaioʻeiki naʻe tuʻu takatakai ʻiate ia, “ʻAe kau Penisimani, mou tokanga mai; ʻe foaki koā ʻe he foha ʻo Sese kiate kimoutolu taki taha ʻae ngaahi ngoue, mo e ngoue vaine, pea ne ngaohi ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ke ʻeiki ki he ngaahi toko afe, mo e ngaahi toko teau;
8 For all of you have conspired against me, and there is none uncovering my ear about my son’s cutting [a covenant] with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you grieving for me, and uncovering my ear, that my son has raised up my servant against me, to lie in wait as [at] this day.”
koeʻuhi ke mou alea ai ke angatuʻu kotoa pē kiate au, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻoku fakahā kiate au kuo alea pau ʻa hoku foha mo e foha ʻo Sese, pea ʻoku ʻikai hamou tokotaha ʻoku ʻofa kiate au, pe fakahā kiate au, kuo langaʻi ʻe hoku foha ʻa ʻeku tamaioʻeiki ke angatuʻu kiate au, ke toitoi ʻo hangē ko ia ʻoku fai he ʻaho ni?”
9 And Doeg the Edomite answers, who is set over the servants of Saul, and says, “I have seen the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech son of Ahitub,
10 and he inquires of YHWH for him, and has given provision to him, and has given the sword of Goliath the Philistine to him.”
Pea naʻa ne fehuʻi kia Sihova maʻana, ʻo ne ʻatu kiate ia ʻae meʻakai, mo ne ʻatu kiate ia ʻae heletā ʻa Kolaiate ko e tangata Filisitia.”
11 And the king sends to call Ahimelech son of Ahitub, the priest, and all the house of his father, the priests, who [are] in Nob, and all of them come to the king;
Pea naʻe fekau leva ʻe he tuʻi ke ʻomi ʻa ʻAhimeleki ko e taulaʻeiki, ko e foha ʻo ʻAhitupe, mo e fale kotoa pē ʻo ʻene tamai, ʻae kau taulaʻeiki naʻe ʻi Nopi pea naʻa nau haʻu kotoa pē ki he tuʻi
12 and Saul says, “Now hear, son of Ahitub”; and he says, “Here I [am], my lord.”
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Saula, “Ko eni, fanongo, ʻa koe ko e foha ʻo ʻAhitupe. Pea pehē ʻe ia, ʻE hoku ʻeiki ko au eni.”
13 And Saul says to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, by your giving bread and a sword to him, and to inquire of God for him, to rise against me, to lie in wait, as [at] this day?”
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Saula kiate ia, “Ko e hā kuo mou alea mo angatuʻu fakataha ai kiate au, ʻa koe mo e foha ʻo Sese, koeʻuhi ʻi hoʻo ʻatu kiate ia ʻae mā, mo e heletā, mo ke fehuʻi ki he ʻOtua koeʻuhi ko ia; koeʻuhi ke angatuʻu ia kiate au, mo toitoi, ʻo hangē ko ia ʻoku fai he ʻaho ni?”
14 And Ahimelech answers the king and says, “And who among all your servants [is] as David—faithful, and son-in-law of the king, and has turned aside to your council, and is honored in your house?
Pea naʻe leaange ʻa ʻAhimeleki ki he tuʻi, ʻo ne pehē, “Pea ko hai ʻoku angatonu ʻi hoʻo kau tamaioʻeiki ʻo hangē ko Tevita, ʻaia ko e foha ʻi he fono ki he tuʻi, pea ʻoku ʻalu ʻi hoʻo fekau, pea ʻoku ongoongolelei ʻi ho fale?
15 Today have I begun to inquire of God for him? Far be it from me! Do not let the king lay anything against his servant, against any of the house of my father, for your servant has known nothing of all this, little or much.”
He ko ʻeku kamata fehuʻi ia ki he ʻOtua koeʻuhi ko ia? Ke mamaʻo ia ʻiate au: ke ʻoua naʻa tuku kovi ʻe he tuʻi ha meʻa ʻe taha ki heʻene tamaioʻeiki, pe ki he fale kotoa pē ʻo ʻeku tamai: he naʻe ʻikai ʻilo ʻe hoʻo tamaioʻeiki ha meʻa siʻi ʻi he meʻa ni kotoa pē, [ha meʻa ]siʻi pe [ha meʻa ]lahi.”
16 And the king says, “You surely die, Ahimelech, you and all the house of your father.”
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe he tuʻi, “ʻAhimeleki, ko e moʻoni te ke mate, ʻa koe, mo e fale kotoa pē ʻo hoʻo tamai.”
17 And the king says to the runners, those standing by him, “Turn around, and put the priests of YHWH to death, because their hand [is] also with David, and because they have known that he is fleeing, and have not uncovered my ear”; and the servants of the king have not been willing to put forth their hand to come against the priests of YHWH.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe he tuʻi ki he kau tangata naʻe tuʻu takatakai ʻiate ia, “Mou hanga ʻo tāmateʻi ʻae kau taulaʻeiki ʻa Sihova: koeʻuhi kuo fekuki honau nima mo Tevita pea koeʻuhi naʻa nau ʻilo ʻene hola, pea naʻe ʻikai fakahā ia kiate au.” Ka naʻe ʻikai fie mafao atu honau nima ʻe he kau tamaioʻeiki ʻae tuʻi ke taaʻi ʻae kau taulaʻeiki ʻa Sihova.
18 And the king says to Doeg, “Turn around, and come against the priests”; and Doeg the Edomite turns around, and comes against the priests himself, and in that day puts to death eighty-five men bearing a linen ephod,
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe he tuʻi kia Toeki, “Tafoki koe,” pea ke taaʻi ʻae kau taulaʻeiki.
19 and Nob, the city of the priests, he has struck by the mouth of the sword, from man and to woman, from infant and to suckling, and ox, and donkey, and sheep, by the mouth of the sword.
Pea ko Nopi ko e kolo ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki, naʻa ne taaʻi ʻaki ʻae mata ʻoe heletā, ʻae kau tangata mo e kau fefine, ʻae fānau mo e tamaiki huhu, ʻae fanga pulu, mo e fanga ʻasi, mo e fanga sipi, ʻaki ʻae mata ʻoe heletā.
20 And one son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, escapes, and his name [is] Abiathar, and he flees after David,
Pea ko e tokotaha ʻi he ngaahi foha ʻo ʻAhimeleki ko e foha ʻo ʻAhitupe, naʻe ui ko ʻApiata, naʻe hao ia, pea hola kia Tevita.
21 and Abiathar declares to David that Saul has slain the priests of YHWH.
Pea naʻe fakahā ʻe ʻApiata kia Tevita ʻae tāmateʻi ʻe Saula ʻae kau taulaʻeiki ʻa Sihova.
22 And David says to Abiathar, “I have known on that day when Doeg the Edomite [is] there, that he certainly declares [it] to Saul; I have brought [it] around to every person of the house of your father;
Pea pehē ʻe Tevita kia ʻApiata, “Ne u ʻilo ia ʻi he ʻaho ʻaia naʻe ʻi ai ʻa Toeki ko e tangata ʻItomi, koeʻuhi te ne tala moʻoni ia kia Saula: kuo tupu ʻiate au ʻenau tāmateʻi ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻoe fale ʻo hoʻo tamai.
23 dwell with me; do not fear; for he who seeks my life seeks your life; for you [are my] charge with me.”
Ka ke nofo koe kiate au, pea ʻoua naʻa ke manavahē: he ko ia ʻoku ne kumi ʻeku moʻui, ʻoku ne kumi hoʻo moʻui: ka ʻi hoʻo ʻiate au te ke maluʻia ai.”
