1 Samuel 19
1 And Saul speaks to his son Jonathan, and to all his servants, to put David to death,
Saúl habló con Jonatán, su hijo, y con todos sus servidores (del plan) de matar a David. Mas Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, amaba mucho a David.
2 and Jonathan son of Saul delighted in David exceedingly, and Jonathan declares [it] to David, saying, “My father Saul is seeking to put you to death, and now, please take heed in the morning, and you have abided in a secret place and been hidden,
Y Jonatán avisó a David, diciendo: “Saúl, mi padre, busca cómo matarte. Guárdate, pues, mañana, retírate a un lugar oculto, y escóndete;
3 and I go out, and have stood by the side of my father in the field where you [are], and I speak of you to my father, and have seen what [is coming], and have declared [it] to you.”
yo, entretanto, me pondré al lado de mi padre y saldré al campo donde tú estuvieres, y hablaré de ti con mi padre, para ver lo que diga; y te avisaré.”
4 And Jonathan speaks good of David to his father Saul and says to him, “Do not let the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his works [are] very good for you;
Habló, pues, Jonatán con Saúl, su padre, en favor de David y le dijo: “No peque el rey contra su servidor David, pues él no ha pecado contra ti; al contrario, sus obras te son de gran provecho.
5 indeed, he puts his life in his hand, and strikes the Philistine, and YHWH works a great salvation for all Israel; you have seen, and rejoice, and why do you sin against innocent blood, to put David to death for nothing?”
Él ha expuesto su vida matando al filisteo, y así ha obrado Yahvé una gran liberación en favor de todo Israel. Tú mismo eras testigo y te has llenado de alegría. ¿Por qué quieres pecar contra sangre inocente, matando a David sin causa?”
6 And Saul listens to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swears, “YHWH lives—he does not die.”
Escuchó Saúl la voz de Jonatán, y juró Saúl: “¡Vive Yahvé que no ha de morir David!”
7 And Jonathan calls for David, and Jonathan declares all these words to him, and Jonathan brings in David to Saul, and he is before him as before.
Llamó entonces Jonatán a David, y le comunicó todas estas palabras; y Jonatán llevó a David a la presencia de Saúl, donde David se quedó como antes.
8 And there adds to be war, and David goes out and fights against the Philistines, and strikes among them [with] a great striking, and they flee from his face.
Hubo de nuevo guerra y David salió a luchar contra los filisteos. Les infligió una gran derrota, y ellos huyeron delante de él.
9 And a spirit of sadness [from] YHWH is to Saul, and he is sitting in his house, and his javelin [is] in his hand, and David is playing with the hand,
Pero Yahvé envió un espíritu malo sobre Saúl, cuando estaba sentado en su casa, teniendo su lanza en la mano, mientras David tañía la cítara.
10 and Saul seeks to strike with the javelin through David, and through the wall, and he frees himself from the presence of Saul, and he strikes the javelin through the wall; and David has fled and escapes during that night.
Saúl intentó clavarlo con la lanza en la pared; pero David esquivó el golpe de Saúl, y la lanza fue a dar en la pared. Huyó David y se salvó aquella noche.
11 And Saul sends messengers to the house of David to watch him, and to put him to death in the morning; and his wife Michal declares [it] to David, saying, “If you are not delivering your life tonight—tomorrow you are put to death.”
Saúl envió guardias a casa de David para vigilarlo y matarlo al día siguiente. Mas avisó a David su mujer Micol, diciendo: “Si no librares tu vida esta misma noche, mañana morirás.”
12 And Michal causes David to go down through the window, and he goes on, and flees, and escapes;
Y Micol descolgó a David por la ventana, el cual de esta suerte escapó y se puso en salvo.
13 and Michal takes the teraphim, and lays [it] on the bed, and she has put the mattress of goats’ [hair for] his pillows, and covers [it] with a garment.
Luego tomó Micol el terafim, y lo metió en el lecho, poniendo sobre su cabeza una piel de cabra y cubriéndolo de ropa.
14 And Saul sends messengers to take David, and she says, “He [is] sick.”
Y cuando Saúl envió los guardias para prender a David, ella dijo: “Está enfermo.”
15 And Saul sends the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up in the bed to me in order to put him to death.”
Saúl envió (de nuevo) los guardias que diesen con David, y les dijo: “Traédmelo en su lecho, para que le mate.”
16 And the messengers come in, and behold, the teraphim [are] on the bed, and the mattress of goats’ [hair for] his pillows.
Entraron, pues, los guardias, y he aquí que en el lecho estaba el terafim, con la piel de cabra sobre la cabeza.
17 And Saul says to Michal, “Why have you thus deceived me—that you send my enemy away, and he escapes?” And Michal says to Saul, “He said to me, Send me away. Why do I put you to death?”
Entonces dijo Saúl a Micol: “¿Por qué me has engañado así, y has dejado salir a mi enemigo, de manera que se ha podido salvar?” Micol respondió a Saúl: “Él me dijo: «Déjame ir o te mato».”
18 And David has fled, and escapes, and comes to Samuel at Ramath, and declares to him all that Saul has done to him, and he goes, he and Samuel, and they dwell in Naioth.
Huyó, pues, David y se puso en salvo. Se fue a Ramá, donde estaba Samuel, y le dijo todo lo que Saúl le había hecho. Después se fueron, él y Samuel, y habitaron en Nayot.
19 And it is declared to Saul, saying, “Behold, David [is] in Naioth in Ramah.”
Avisaron a Saúl, diciendo: “Mira, David está en Nayot de Ramá.”
20 And Saul sends messengers to take David, and they see the assembly of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing, set over them, and the Spirit of God is on Saul’s messengers, and they prophesy—they also.
Envió, pues, Saúl gente para prender a David. Pero viendo ellos el tropel de profetas que estaban profetizando, y a Samuel en pie presidiéndolos, vino sobre la gente de Saúl el Espíritu de Dios, de manera que ellos también comenzaron a profetizar.
21 And they declare [it] to Saul, and he sends other messengers, and they prophesy—they also; and Saul adds and sends messengers a third time, and they prophesy—they also.
Fue avisado Saúl, el cual envió otros mensajeros, que también profetizaron. Saúl envió de nuevo mensajeros, por tercera vez; y ellos igualmente se pusieron a profetizar.
22 And he goes—he also—to Ramath, and comes to the great well which [is] in Sechu, and asks and says, “Where [are] Samuel and David?” And [one] says, “Behold, in Naioth in Ramah.”
Entonces él mismo fue a Ramá; y llegado al pozo grande que hay en Secú, preguntó, diciendo: “¿Dónde están Samuel y David?” Le respondieron: “He aquí que están en Nayot de Ramá.”
23 And he goes there—to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God is on him also; and he goes, going on, and he prophesies until his coming to Naioth in Ramah,
Se dirigió allá, a Nayot de Ramá; mas también sobre él vino el Espíritu de Dios, de manera que siguió adelante profetizando, hasta llegar a Nayot de Ramá;
24 and he strips off—he also—his garments, and prophesies—he also—before Samuel, and falls down naked all that day and all the night; therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Y despojándose de sus vestidos, profetizó también él delante de Samuel; y desnudo estuvo postrado en tierra todo aquel día y toda aquella noche. De donde se suele decir: “¿También Saúl entre los profetas?”
