1 Samuel 16
1 And YHWH says to Samuel, “Until when are you mourning for Saul, and I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go, I send you to Jesse the Beth-Lehemite, for I have seen among his sons a king for Myself.”
౧యెహోవా సమూయేలుతో ఇలా చెప్పాడు “ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీద రాజుగా ఉండకుండా నేను తిరస్కరించిన సౌలును గూర్చి నువ్వు ఎంతకాలం దుఃఖిస్తావు? నీ కొమ్మును నూనెతో నింపు, బేత్లెహేముకు చెందిన యెష్షయి దగ్గరకి నిన్ను పంపిస్తున్నాను. అతని కొడుకుల్లో ఒకడిని నేను రాజుగా ఎంపిక చేశాను.”
2 And Samuel says, “How do I go? When Saul has heard, then he has slain me.” And YHWH says, “You take a heifer of the herd in your hand, and have said, I have come to sacrifice to YHWH;
౨అందుకు సమూయేలు “నేనెలా వెళ్ళగలను? నేను వెళ్లిన సంగతి సౌలుకు తెలిస్తే అతడు నన్ను చంపేస్తాడు” అన్నాడు. యెహోవా “నువ్వు ఒక లేగ దూడను తీసుకువెళ్ళి యెహోవాకు బలి అర్పించడానికి వచ్చానని చెప్పి,
3 and you have called for Jesse in the sacrifice, and I cause you to know that which you do, and you have anointed for Me him of whom I speak to you.”
౩యెష్షయిని బలి అర్పణ చేసే చోటికి పిలిపించు. అప్పుడు నువ్వు ఏమి చేయాలో నీకు చెబుతాను. ఎవరి పేరు నేను నీకు సూచిస్తానో అతణ్ణి నువ్వు అభిషేకించాలి” అని చెప్పాడు.
4 And Samuel does that which YHWH has spoken, and comes to Beth-Lehem, and [the] elderly of the city tremble to meet him, and [one] says, “Is your coming peace?”
౪సమూయేలు యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చినట్టు బేత్లెహేముకు బయలుదేరాడు. ఆ ఊరి పెద్దలు అతడు రావడం చూసి భయపడి “నువ్వు శాంతంగానే వస్తున్నావా?” అని అడిగినప్పుడు,
5 And he says, “Peace; I have come to sacrifice to YHWH, sanctify yourselves, and you have come in with me to the sacrifice”; and he sanctifies Jesse and his sons, and calls them to the sacrifice.
౫అతడు “శాంతంగానే వచ్చాను. మిమ్మల్ని మీరు శుద్ధి చేసుకుని నాతో కలసి బలికి రండి” అని చెప్పి యెష్షయిని, అతని కొడుకులను శుద్ధి చేసి బలి అర్పించాడు.
6 And it comes to pass, in their coming in, that he sees Eliab and says, “Surely His anointed [is] here before YHWH.”
౬వారు వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఏలీయాబును చూసి “నిజంగా యెహోవా అభిషేకించేవాడు ఆయన ఎదురుగా నిలబడి ఉన్నాడు” అని అనుకున్నాడు.
7 And YHWH says to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance, and at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him; for [it is] not as man sees—for man looks at the eyes, and YHWH looks at the heart.”
౭అయితే యెహోవా సమూయేలుతో ఇలా అన్నాడు. “అతడి అందాన్నీ ఎత్తునూ చూడవద్దు. మనుషులు లక్ష్యపెట్టే వాటిని యెహోవా లక్ష్యపెట్టడు. నేను అతణ్ణి నిరాకరించాను. మనుషులు పైరూపాన్ని చూస్తారు గానీ యెహోవా అయితే హృదయాన్ని చూస్తాడు.”
8 And Jesse calls to Abinadab, and causes him to pass by before Samuel; and he says, “Indeed, YHWH has not fixed on this [one].”
౮యెష్షయి అబీనాదాబును పిలిచి అతణ్ణి సమూయేలు ముందు నిలబెట్టగా, అతడు “యెహోవా ఇతణ్ణి ఎన్నుకోలేదు” అన్నాడు.
9 And Jesse causes Shammah to pass by, and he says, “Indeed, YHWH has not fixed on this [one].”
౯అప్పుడు యెష్షయి షమ్మాను పిలిచి నిలబెట్టినప్పుడు సమూయేలు “యెహోవా ఇతణ్ణి ఎన్నుకోలేదు” అన్నాడు.
10 And Jesse causes seven of his sons to pass by before Samuel, and Samuel says to Jesse, “YHWH has not fixed on these.”
౧౦యెష్షయి తన ఏడుగురు కొడుకులనూ సమూయేలు ముందుకి రప్పించాడు. సమూయేలు “యెహోవా వీరిలో ఎవరినీ ఎన్నుకోలేదు” అని చెప్పి,
11 And Samuel says to Jesse, “Are the young men finished?” And he says, “Yet the youngest has been left; and behold, he delights himself among the flock”; and Samuel says to Jesse, “Send and take him, for we do not turn around until his coming in here.”
౧౧“నీ కొడుకులందరూ ఇక్కడే ఉన్నారా?” అని యెష్షయిని అడిగాడు. అతడు “ఇంకా చివరివాడు ఉన్నాడు, అయితే వాడు గొర్రెలను మేపడానికి వెళ్ళాడు” అని చెప్పాడు. అందుకు సమూయేలు “నువ్వు అతనికి కబురు పంపి ఇక్కడికి రప్పించు. అతడు వచ్చేదాకా మనం కూర్చోలేం కదా” అని యెష్షయితో చెప్పాడు.
12 And he sends, and brings him in, and he [is] ruddy, with beautiful eyes, and of good appearance; and YHWH says, “Rise, anoint him, for this [is] he.”
౧౨యెష్షయి అతణ్ణి పిలిపించి లోపలికి తీసుకువచ్చాడు. అతడు రూపంలో ఎర్రని వాడు, చక్కని కళ్ళు కలిగి చూపులకు అందమైనవాడు. అతడు రాగానే “నేను కోరుకొన్నది ఇతడే, నీవు లేచి అతణ్ణి అభిషేకించు” అని యెహోవా చెప్పగానే,
13 And Samuel takes the horn of oil, and anoints him in the midst of his brothers, and the Spirit of YHWH prospers over David from that day and onward; and Samuel rises and goes to Ramath.
౧౩సమూయేలు నూనె కొమ్మును తీసి అతని తలపై నూనె పోసి అతని అన్నల ముందు అతణ్ణి అభిషేకించాడు. ఆ రోజు నుండి యెహోవా ఆత్మ దావీదును తీవ్రంగా ఆవహించాడు. తరువాత సమూయేలు లేచి రమాకు వెళ్లిపోయాడు.
14 And the Spirit of YHWH turned aside from Saul, and a spirit of sadness from YHWH terrified him;
౧౪యెహోవా ఆత్మ సౌలును విడిచిపోయిన తరువాత యెహోవా దగ్గర నుండి ఒక దురాత్మ అతణ్ణి భయపెట్టి, వేధించడం మొదలుపెట్టింది,
15 and the servants of Saul say to him, “Now behold, a spirit of sadness [from] God is terrifying you;
౧౫సౌలు సేవకులు “దేవుని దగ్గర నుండి వచ్చిన దురాత్మ నిన్ను భయపెడుతున్నది.
16 now let our lord command your servants before you [that] they seek a skillful man playing on a harp, and it has come to pass, in the spirit of sadness [from] God being on you, that he has played with his hand and [it is] well with you.”
౧౬నీ సేవకులమైన మాతో చెప్పు, దేవుని దగ్గర నుండి దురాత్మ నిన్ను వేధిస్తూ ఉన్నప్పుడు దాని నుండి ఉపశమనం పొందడానికి తంతివాద్యం చక్కగా వాయించగల ఒకణ్ణి వెదుకుతాం. దురాత్మ వచ్చి నిన్ను వేధించినప్పుడల్లా అతడు తంతివాద్యం వాయించడం వల్ల నువ్వు బాగుపడతావు” అని సౌలుతో అన్నారు.
17 And Saul says to his servants, “Now provide for me a man playing well—then you have brought [him] to me.”
౧౭అప్పుడు సౌలు “బాగా వాయించగల ఒకణ్ణి వెతికి నా దగ్గరికి తీసికురండి” అని వారితో చెప్పాడు.
18 And one of the servants answers and says, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth-Lehemite, skillful in playing, and a mighty, virtuous man, and a man of battle, and intelligent in word, and a man of form, and YHWH [is] with him.”
౧౮వారిలో ఒకడు “బేత్లెహేము వాడైన యెష్షయి కొడుకుల్లో ఒకణ్ణి చూశాను, అతడు చక్కగా వాయించగలడు, అతడు ధైర్యవంతుడు, యుద్ధవీరుడు, మాటకారి, అందగాడు. యెహోవా అతనికి తోడుగా ఉన్నాడు కూడా” అని చెప్పాడు.
19 And Saul sends messengers to Jesse and says, “Send to me your son David, who [is] with the flock.”
౧౯సౌలు యెష్షయి దగ్గరకి తన సేవకులను పంపి “గొర్రెలు కాస్తున్న నీ కొడుకు దావీదును నా దగ్గరకి పంపించు” అని కబురు చేశాడు.
20 And Jesse takes a donkey, bread, and a bottle of wine, and one kid of the goats, and sends [them] by the hand of his son David to Saul.
౨౦అప్పుడు యెష్షయి ఒక గాడిదపై రొట్టెలు, ద్రాక్షారసపు తిత్తి, ఒక మేకపిల్లను ఉంచి దావీదు ద్వారా సౌలుకు పంపించాడు.
21 And David comes to Saul, and stands before him, and he loves him greatly; and he is a bearer of his weapons.
౨౧దావీదు సౌలు దగ్గరకి వచ్చి అతని ముందు నిలబడినపుడు అతడు సౌలుకు బాగా నచ్చాడు. అతణ్ణి సౌలు ఆయుధాలు మోసే పనిలో పెట్టారు.
22 And Saul sends to Jesse, saying, “Please let David stand before me, for he has found grace in my eyes.”
౨౨అప్పుడు సౌలు “దావీదు నాకు బాగా నచ్చాడు కాబట్టి అతణ్ణి నా సముఖంలో నిలిచి ఉండడానికి ఒప్పుకో” అని యెష్షయికి కబురు పంపాడు.
23 And it has come to pass, in the spirit of [sadness from] God being on Saul, that David has taken the harp, and played with his hand, and Saul has refreshment and gladness, and the spirit of sadness has turned aside from off him.
౨౩దేవుని నుండి దురాత్మ వచ్చి సౌలును వేధించినప్పుడల్లా దావీదు తంతి వాద్యం వాయించేవాడు. అప్పుడు దురాత్మ అతణ్ణి విడిచిపోయేది. అతడు కోలుకుని నెమ్మది పొందేవాడు.
