1 And Samuel says to Saul, “YHWH sent me to anoint you for king over His people, over Israel; and now, listen to the voice of the words of YHWH.

2 Thus said YHWH of Hosts: I have looked after that which Amalek did to Israel, that which he laid for him in the way in his going up out of Egypt.
Caempuei BOEIPA loh, “Israel Egypt lamkah a caeh uh vaengah Amalek loh longpueng ah a mah tih a saii te ka cawh ni.
3 Now go, and you have struck Amalek, and devoted all that he has, and you have no pity on him, and have put to death from man to woman, from infant to suckling, from ox to sheep, from camel to donkey.”
Cet cet lamtah Amalek te tloek laeh. Anih taengkah te boeih thup pah lamtah anih soah na thinphat boeh. Te dongah tongpa lamloh huta khaw, camoe lamloh cahni hil khaw, vaito lamloh tu hil khaw, kalauk lamloh laak hil khaw ngawn,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
4 And Saul summons the people, and inspects them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand [are] men of Judah.
Te dongah pilnam te Saul loh a yaak sak tih amih te rhalkap thawng yahnih neh Judah hlang thawng rha la Telaim ah a soep.
5 And Saul comes to a city of Amalek, and lays wait in a valley;
Saul tah Amalek khopuei la cet tih, soklong ah a rhongngol thil.
6 and Saul says to the Kenite, “Go, turn aside, go down from the midst of Amalek, lest I consume you with it, and you did kindness with all the sons of Israel, in their going up out of Egypt”; and the Kenite turns aside from the midst of Amalek.
Te vaengah Keni te Saul loh, “Amalek lakli lamloh cet laeh, nong laeh, suntla laeh, nang te amih neh hmaih kam phae ve. Nang long tah Egypt lamkah aka pawk Israel ca boeih taengah sitlohnah na saii pah,” a ti nah. Te dongah Keni te Amalek lakli lamloh nong.
7 And Saul strikes Amalek from Havilah [to] your going to Shur, which [is] on the front of Egypt,
Te phoeiah Havilah lamkah Egypt imdan Shur la aka pha Amalek te Saul loh a tloek.
8 and he catches Agag king of Amalek alive, and he has devoted all the people by the mouth of the sword;
Te vaengah Amalek manghai Agag te a hing la a tuuk tih pilnam boeih te cunghang ha neh a thup.
9 and Saul has pity—also the people—on Agag, and on the best of the flock, and of the herd, and of the seconds, and on the lambs, and on all that [is] good, and have not been willing to devote them; and all the work, despised and wasted—it they devoted.
Tedae Saul neh pilnam loh Agag khaw, boiva neh saelhung then khaw, a toitup neh tuca khaw, a then boeih tah a hnaih tih amih te thup ham huem pawh. Te dongah hnopai boeih khuiah a hnawtkhoe neh a morhoe bueng te a thup.
10 And the word of YHWH is to Samuel, saying,
Te vaengah BOEIPA ol loh Samuel taengla thoeng tih,
11 “I have regretted that I caused Saul to reign for king, for he has turned back from after Me, and he has not performed My words”; and it is displeasing to Samuel, and he cries to YHWH all the night.
“Saul manghai la ka manghai sak he damti coeng. Kai taeng lamloh hnukpoh tih ka ol a thoh puei moenih,” a ti nah. Samuel taengah a sai dongah khoyin puet BOEIPA taengah pang.
12 And Samuel rises early to meet Saul in the morning, and it is declared to Samuel, saying, “Saul has come to Carmel, and behold, he is setting up a monument to himself, and goes around, and passes over, and goes down to Gilgal.”

13 And Samuel comes to Saul, and Saul says to him, “Blessed [are] you of YHWH; I have performed the word of YHWH.”
Samuel te Saul taeng a pha vaengah Saul loh, “BOEIPA rhang neh na yoethen coeng, BOEIPA ol te ka thoh puei ngawn ne,” a ti nah.
14 And Samuel says, “And what [is] the noise of this flock in my ears—and the noise of the herd which I am hearing?”

15 And Saul says, “They have brought them from Amalek, because the people had pity on the best of the flock, and of the herd, in order to sacrifice to your God YHWH, and we have devoted the remnant.”
Te vaengah Saul loh, “Amalek taeng lamkah boiva then neh saelhung te pilnam loh a hnaih dongah BOEIPA na Pathen taengah nawn hamla hang khuen uh, tih a hoeikhang te tah ka thup uh,” a ti nah.
16 And Samuel says to Saul, “Desist, and I declare to you that which YHWH has spoken to me tonight”; and he says to him, “Speak.”
Tedae Samuel loh Saul te, “Duem lamtah khoyin ah BOEIPA loh kai taengah a thui te nang taengah kan thui eh?,” a ti nah hatah, “Thui lah,” a ti nah.
17 And Samuel says, “Are you not, if you [are] little in your own eyes, head of the tribes of Israel? And YHWH anoints you for king over Israel,
Samuel loh, “Na mikhmuh ah na noe cakhaw, nang he Israel koca kah a lu neh Israel manghai la BOEIPA loh nang ng'koelh moenih a?
18 and YHWH sends you in the way, and says, Go, and you have devoted the sinners, the Amalekite, and fought against them until they are consumed;
Nang he longpuei la BOEIPA loh n'tueih vaengah, “Cet lamtah Amalek hlangtholh rhoek te thup laeh, amih te boeih a thok duela vathoh thil,” a ti.
19 and why have you not listened to the voice of YHWH—and fly to the spoil, and do evil in the eyes of YHWH?”
Tedae balae tih BOEIPA ol na yaak pawh? Kutbuem dongah na cu tih BOEIPA mikhmuh ah boethae ni na saii,” a ti nah.
20 And Saul says to Samuel, “Because—I have listened to the voice of YHWH, and I go in the way which YHWH has sent me, and bring in Agag king of Amalek, and I have devoted Amalek;
Samuel taengah Saul loh, “BOEIPA ol te ka hnatun tih BOEIPA loh kai n'tueih vanbangla, longpuei ah ka cet. Te dongah Amalek manghai Agag te kang khuen tih Amalek te ka thup.
21 and the people take of the spoil of the flock and herd, the first part of the devoted thing, for sacrifice to your God YHWH in Gilgal.”
Tedae kutbuem khui lamloh boiva neh saelhung then tah Gilgal kah na Pathen BOEIPA taengah nawn hamla pilnam loh yaehtaboeih la a loh,” a ti nah.
22 And Samuel says, “Has YHWH had delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices as [in] listening to the voice of YHWH? Behold, listening is better than sacrifice; to give attention than fat of rams;
Te dongah Samuel loh, “Hmueihhlutnah he BOEIPA ol hnatun bangla hmueihhlutnah neh hmueih dongah BOEIPA te hmae a? Olngai he hmueih lakah, hnatung ham he tutal kah a tha lakah then ngai.
23 for rebellion [is as] a sin of divination, and stubbornness [is as] iniquity and teraphim; because you have rejected the word of YHWH, He also rejects you from [being] king.”
Boekoek bihma kah tholhnah, boethae neh sithui dongah na mangkhak tih BOEIPA ol te na hnawt dongah namah te manghai lamloh n'hnawt van coeng,” a ti nah.
24 And Saul says to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I passed over the command of YHWH, and your words; because I have feared the people, I also listen to their voice;
Te daengah Saul loh Samuel taengah, “Pilnam ka rhih hulah BOEIPA olpaek neh nang ol ka poe tih amih ol ka hnatun tholh coeng.
25 and now, please bear with my sin, and return with me, and I bow myself to YHWH.”
Tedae tahae ah ka tholh he ng'rhen mai laeh. Kai taengah ha bal mai lamtah BOEIPA taengah tho ka thueng mai eh,” a ti nah.
26 And Samuel says to Saul, “I do not return with you; for you have rejected the word of YHWH, and YHWH rejects you from being king over Israel.”
Tedae Saul te Samuel loh, “BOEIPA ol te na hnawt dongah nang taengla ka mael mahpawh. Israel soah manghai la na om te BOEIPA loh nang n'hnawt coeng,” a ti nah.
27 And Samuel turns around to go, and he lays hold on the skirt of his upper robe—and it is torn!
Samuel te caeh ham a hooi uh vaengah a hnikul hmoi te a doek pah tih a phen pah.
28 And Samuel says to him, “YHWH has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and given it to your neighbor who is better than you;
Te vaengah anih te Samuel loh, “Israel ram he tihnin ah BOEIPA loh nang taeng lamkah a phen tih nang lakah aka then na hui taengla a paek coeng.
29 and also, the Preeminence of Israel does not lie nor relent, for He [is] not a man that He should relent.”
Israel kah yoeyah Pathen he rhi a lat moenih. A hal ham khaw anih tah hlang mailai pawt dongah a hal moenih,” a ti nah.
30 And he says, “I have sinned; now please honor me before [the] elderly of my people and before Israel, and return with me; and I have bowed myself to your God YHWH.”
Saul loh, “Ka tholh dae ka pilnam kah a hamca rhoek hmai neh Israel hmai ah kai he n'thangpom mai lamtah kai taengla ha mael mai. BOEIPA na Pathen te ka bawk tangloeng pawn eh,” a ti nah.
31 And Samuel turns back after Saul, and Saul bows himself to YHWH;
Te dongah Samuel te Saul hnukla bal tih Saul loh BOEIPA te a bawk.
32 and Samuel says, “Bring Agag king of Amalek to me,” and Agag comes to him daintily, and Agag says, “Surely the bitterness of death has turned aside.”
Te vaengah Samuel loh, “Amalek manghai Agag te kai taengla han khuen,” a ti nah. Te dongah Agag te anih taengah phatphat cet. Te vaengah Agag loh, “Dueknah khahing he khum taktak coeng,” a ti.
33 And Samuel says, “As your sword bereaved women—so is your mother bereaved above women”; and Samuel hews Agag in pieces before YHWH in Gilgal.
Samuel loh, “Na cunghang loh huta rhoek a cakol sak vanbangla na nu kah tanu te cakol la om van saeh,” a ti nah tih Gilgal kah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah Samuel loh Agag te a petpet a sah.
34 And Samuel goes to Ramath, and Saul has gone to his house—to Gibeah of Saul.
Samuel te Ramah la cet tih Saul te Gibeah kah amah im la cet.
35 And Samuel has not added to see Saul until the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul, and YHWH regretted that He had caused Saul to reign over Israel.
Te lamkah longtah Saul sawt ham te Samuel loh a dueknah hnin duela thoelh voel pawh. Tedae Saul ham te Samuel nguekcoi tih Israel soah Saul a manghai sak te BOEIPA khaw damti coeng.
