1 Samuel 13

1 Saul [is] a son of [[thirty]] years in his reigning, and he has reigned over Israel [forty]-two years,

Saul war ein Jahr König gewesen; und da er zwei Jahre über Israel regieret hatte,

2 then Saul chooses for himself three thousand [men] out of Israel; and two thousand are with Saul in Michmash, and in the hill-country of Beth-El; and one thousand have been with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin; and he has sent each one of the remnant of the people to his tents.

erwählte er ihm dreitausend Mann aus Israel. Zweitausend waren mit Saul zu Michmas und auf dem Gebirge Bethel und eintausend mit Jonathan zu Gibea-Benjamin; das andere Volk aber ließ er gehen, einen jeglichen in seine Hütte.

3 And Jonathan strikes the garrison of the Philistines which [is] in Geba, and the Philistines hear, and Saul has blown with a horn through all the land, saying, “Let the Hebrews hear.”

Jonathan aber schlug die Philister in ihrem Lager, das zu Gibea war; das kam vor die Philister. Und Saul ließ die Posaune blasen im ganzen Lande und sagen: Das lasset die Ebräer hören!

4 And all Israel have heard, saying, “Saul has struck the garrison of the Philistines,” and also, “Israel has been abhorred by the Philistines”; and the people are called after Saul to Gilgal.

Und ganz Israel hörete sagen: Saul hat der Philister Lager geschlagen; denn Israel stank vor den Philistern. Und alles Volk schrie Saul nach gen Gilgal.

5 And the Philistines have been gathered to fight with Israel; thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and a people as the sand which [is] on the seashore for multitude; and they come up and encamp in Michmash, east of Beth-Aven.

Da versammelten sich die Philister, zu streiten mit Israel, dreißigtausend Wagen, sechstausend Reiter und sonst Volk, so viel wie Sand am Rande des Meers, und zogen herauf und lagerten sich zu Michmas, gegen Morgen vor Beth-Aven.

6 And the men of Israel have seen that they are distressed, that the people have been oppressed, and the people hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

Da das sahen die Männer Israels, daß sie in Nöten waren (denn dem Volk war bange), verkrochen sie sich in die Höhlen und Klüfte und Felsen und Löcher und Gruben.

7 And Hebrews have passed over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead; and Saul [is] yet in Gilgal, and all the people have trembled after him.

Die Ebräer aber gingen über den Jordan ins Land Gad und Gilead. Saul aber war noch zu Gilgal, und alles Volk ward hinter ihm zag.

8 And he waits seven days, according to the appointment with Samuel, and Samuel has not come to Gilgal, and the people are scattered from off him.

Da harrete er sieben Tage auf die Zeit, von Samuel bestimmt. Und da Samuel nicht kam gen Gilgal, zerstreuete sich das Volk von ihm.

9 And Saul says, “Bring the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings near to me”; and he causes the burnt-offering to ascend.

Da sprach Saul: Bringet mir her Brandopfer und Dankopfer! Und er opferte Brandopfer.

10 And it comes to pass at his completing to cause the burnt-offering to ascend, that behold, Samuel has come, and Saul goes out to meet him, to bless him;

Als er aber das Brandopfer vollendet hatte, siehe, da kam Samuel. Da ging Saul hinaus ihm entgegen, ihn zu segnen.

11 and Samuel says, “What have you done?” And Saul says, “Because I saw that the people were scattered from off me, and you had not come at the appointment of the days, and the Philistines are gathered to Michmash,

Samuel aber sprach: Was hast du gemacht? Saul antwortete: Ich sah, daß das Volk sich von mir zerstreuete, und du kamest nicht zu bestimmter Zeit, und die Philister waren versammelt zu Michmas.

12 and I say, Now the Philistines come down to me to Gilgal, and I have not appeased the face of YHWH; and I force myself, and cause the burnt-offering to ascend.”

Da sprach ich: Nun werden die Philister zu mir herabkommen gen Gilgal, und ich habe das Angesicht des HERRN nicht erbeten; da wagte ich's und opferte Brandopfer.

13 And Samuel says to Saul, “You have been foolish; you have not kept the command of your God YHWH, which He commanded you, for now YHWH had established your kingdom over Israel for all time;

Samuel aber sprach zu Saul: Du hast töricht getan und nicht gehalten des HERRN, deines Gottes, Gebot, das er dir geboten hat; denn er hätte dein Reich bestätiget über Israel für und für.

14 and now, your kingdom does not stand, YHWH has sought [for] a man for Himself according to His own heart, and YHWH charges him for leader over His people, for you have not kept that which YHWH commanded you.”

Aber nun wird dein Reich nicht bestehen. Der HERR hat ihm einen Mann ersucht nach seinem Herzen, dem hat der HERR geboten, Fürst zu sein über sein Volk; denn du hast des HERRN Gebot nicht gehalten.

15 And Samuel rises, and goes up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin; and Saul inspects the people who are found with him, about six hundred men,

Und Samuel machte sich auf und ging von Gilgal gen Gibea-Benjamin. Aber Saul zählete das Volk, das bei ihm war, bei sechshundert Mann.

16 and Saul, and his son Jonathan, and the people who are found with them, are abiding in Gibeah of Benjamin, and the Philistines have encamped in Michmash.

Saul aber und sein Sohn Jonathan und das Volk, das bei ihm war, blieben auf dem Hügel Benjamin. Die Philister aber hatten sich gelagert zu Michmas.

17 And the destroyer goes out from the camp of the Philistines—three detachments: one detachment turns to the way of Ophrah, to the land of Shual,

Und aus dem Lager der Philister zogen drei Haufen, das Land zu verheeren. Einer wandte sich auf die Straße gen Ophra, ins Land Sual;

18 and one detachment turns the way of Beth-Horon, and one detachment turns the way of the border which is looking on the Valley of the Zeboim, toward the wilderness.

der andere wandte sich auf die Straße Beth-Horon; der dritte wandte sich auf die Straße, die da langet an das Tal Zeboim, an der Wüste.

19 And a craftsman is not found in all the land of Israel, for the Philistines said, “Lest the Hebrews make sword or spear”;

Es ward aber kein Schmied im ganzen Lande Israel erfunden, denn die Philister gedachten, die Ebräer möchten Schwert und Spieß machen.

20 and all Israel goes down to the Philistines, to each sharpen his plowshare, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock;

Und mußte ganz Israel hinabziehen zu den Philistern, wenn jemand hatte eine Pflugschar, Haue, Beil oder Sense zu schärfen.

21 and there has been the file for mattocks, and for coulters, and for three-pronged rakes, and for the axes, and to set up the goads.

Und die Schneiden an den Sensen und Hauen und Gabeln und Beilen waren abgearbeitet und die Stacheln stumpf worden.

22 And it has been, in the day of battle, that there has not been found a sword and spear in the hand of any of the people who [are] with Saul and with Jonathan—but it is found with Saul and with his son Jonathan.

Da nun der Streittag kam, ward kein Schwert noch Spieß funden in des ganzen Volks Hand, das mit Saul und Jonathan war; nur Saul und sein Sohn hatten Waffen.

23 And the station of the Philistines goes out to the passage of Michmash.

Und der Philister Lager zog heraus vor Michmas über.
