1 Samuel 11
1 And Nahash the Ammonite comes up, and encamps against Jabesh-Gilead, and all the men of Jabesh say to Nahash, “Make a covenant with us, and we serve you.”
Venis Naĥaŝ la Amonido, kaj stariĝis tendare antaŭ Jabeŝ en Gilead. Kaj ĉiuj loĝantoj de Jabeŝ diris al Naĥaŝ: Faru kun ni interligon, kaj ni servos al vi.
2 And Nahash the Ammonite says to them, “For this I cut [a covenant] with you, in picking out every right eye of yours—and I have set it [for] a reproach on all Israel.”
Sed Naĥaŝ la Amonido diris al ili: Mi faros kun la kondiĉo, ke al ĉiuj el vi mi elpikos la dekstran okulon kaj per tio metos malhonoron sur la tutan Izraelon.
3 And [the] elderly of Jabesh say to him, “Leave us alone [for] seven days, and we send messengers into all the border of Israel: and if there is none saving us—then we have come out to you.”
Tiam diris al li la plejaĝuloj de Jabeŝ: Donu al ni tempon de sep tagoj, por ke ni sendu senditojn en ĉiujn regionojn de Izrael; kaj se neniu nin helpos, tiam ni eliros al vi.
4 And the messengers come to Gibeah of Saul, and speak the words in the ears of the people, and all the people lift up their voice and weep;
Kaj venis la senditoj en Gibean de Saul kaj diris tiujn vortojn al la oreloj de la popolo, kaj la tuta popolo laŭte ekploris.
5 and behold, Saul has come out of the field after the herd, and Saul says, “What [is that] to the people, that they weep?” And they recount the words of the men of Jabesh to him.
Sed jen Saul venas de la kampo malantaŭ la bovoj. Kaj Saul diris: Kio estas al la popolo, ke ili ploras? Kaj oni transdiris al li la vortojn de la loĝantoj de Jabeŝ.
6 And the Spirit of God prospers over Saul, in his hearing these words, and his anger burns greatly,
Kaj la spirito de Dio penetris Saulon, kiam li aŭdis tiujn vortojn, kaj forte ekflamis lia kolero.
7 and he takes a couple of oxen, and cuts them in pieces, and sends [them] through all the border of Israel, by the hand of the messengers, saying, “He who is not coming out after Saul and after Samuel—thus it is done to his oxen”; and the fear of YHWH falls on the people, and they come out as one man.
Kaj li prenis paron da bovoj kaj dishakis ilin, kaj dissendis la partojn per la senditoj en ĉiujn regionojn de Izrael, dirante: Se iu ne eliros post Saul kaj post Samuel, tiam tiel estos farite kun liaj bovoj. Kaj timo antaŭ la Eternulo falis sur la popolon, kaj ili eliris kiel unu homo.
8 And he inspects them in Bezek, and the sons of Israel are three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
Li kalkulis ilin en Bezek, kaj la nombro de la Izraelidoj estis tricent mil, kaj la nombro de la Jehudaidoj estis tridek mil.
9 And they say to the messengers who are coming, “Thus you say to the men of Jabesh-Gilead: Tomorrow you have safety—by the heat of the sun”; and the messengers come and declare [it] to the men of Jabesh, and they rejoice;
Kaj ili diris al la venintaj senditoj: Tiel diru al la loĝantoj de Jabeŝ en Gilead: Morgaŭ venos al vi helpo, kiam la suno brilos varmege. Kaj la senditoj venis kaj raportis al la loĝantoj de Jabeŝ, kaj tiuj ĝojis.
10 and the men of Jabesh say [to the Ammonites], “Tomorrow we come out to you, and you have done to us according to all that [is] good in your eyes.”
Kaj la loĝantoj de Jabeŝ diris: Morgaŭ ni eliros al vi, por ke vi agu kun ni, kiel plaĉos al vi.
11 And it comes to pass, on the next day, that Saul puts the people in three detachments, and they come into the midst of the camp in the morning-watch, and strike Ammon until the heat of the day; and it comes to pass that those left are scattered, and there have not been left two of them together.
En la sekvanta tago Saul dividis la popolon en tri taĉmentojn, kaj ili eniris en la tendaron dum la matena gardotempo, kaj venkobatis la Amonidojn, antaŭ ol la tago fariĝis varma; la restintoj diskuris tiel, ke ne restis eĉ du kune.
12 And the people say to Samuel, “Who is he that says, Saul reigns over us? Give up the men, and we put them to death.”
Kaj la popolo diris al Samuel: Kiuj estas tiuj, kiuj diris: Ĉu Saul reĝos super ni? Donu tiujn homojn, ke ni ilin mortigu.
13 And Saul says, “There is no man put to death on this day, for today YHWH has worked salvation in Israel.”
Sed Saul diris: Neniun oni devas mortigi en ĉi tiu tago, ĉar hodiaŭ la Eternulo faris savon al Izrael.
14 And Samuel says to the people, “Come and we go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there”;
Kaj Samuel diris al la popolo: Venu, ni iru en Gilgalon, kaj ni novofestos tie la reĝecon.
15 and all the people go to Gilgal, and cause Saul to reign there before YHWH in Gilgal, and sacrifice sacrifices of peace-offerings there before YHWH, and Saul rejoices there—and all the men of Israel—very greatly.
Kaj la tuta popolo iris en Gilgalon, kaj ili reĝigis tie Saulon antaŭ la Eternulo en Gilgal, kaj buĉis tie pacoferojn antaŭ la Eternulo, kaj forte gajis tie Saul kaj ĉiuj Izraelidoj.
