1 Kings 9

1 And it comes to pass, at Solomon’s finishing to build the house of YHWH, and the house of the king, and all the desire of Solomon that he delighted to do,

১এই ভাবে শলোমন সদাপ্রভুর ঘর, রাজবাড়ী আর নিজের ইচ্ছামত যে সব কাজ করতে চেয়েছিলেন তা শেষ করলেন।

2 that YHWH appears to Solomon a second time, as He appeared to him in Gibeon,

২তখন এইরূপ হলো যে, সদাপ্রভু দ্বিতীয়বার তাঁকে দেখা দিলেন যেমন গিবিয়োনে একবার তাঁকে দেখা দিয়েছিলেন।

3 and YHWH says to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication with which you have made supplication before Me; I have hallowed this house that you have built to put My Name there for all time, and My eyes and My heart have been there [for] all the days.

৩সদাপ্রভু তাঁকে বললেন, “তুমি যে প্রার্থনা ও অনুরোধ আমার কাছে করেছ তা আমি শুনেছি। এই যে ঘর তুমি তৈরী করেছ; এর মধ্যে চিরকালের জন্য আমার নাম স্থাপনের জন্য আমি এটা পবিত্র করলাম এবং এই জায়গায় সব দিন আমার চোখ ও মন থাকবে।

4 And you—if you walk before Me as your father David walked, in simplicity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, [and] you keep My statutes and My judgments,

৪আর তুমি, তুমি যদি তোমার বাবা দায়ূদের মত হৃদয়ের বিশুদ্ধতা, সৎভাবে আমার সামনে চল এবং আমার সব আদেশ, নিয়ম ও নির্দেশ পালন কর,

5 then I have established the throne of your kingdom over Israel for all time, as I spoke to your father David, saying, A man of yours is never cut off from [being] on the throne of Israel.

৫তবে আমি চিরকালের জন্য ইস্রায়েলের উপর তোমার রাজসিংহাসন স্থায়ী করব। এই কথা আমি তোমার বাবা দায়ূদকে প্রতিজ্ঞা করে বলেছিলাম, ‘ইস্রায়েলের সিংহাসনে বসবার জন্য তোমার বংশে লোকের অভাব হবে না।’

6 If you at all turn back—you and your sons—from after Me, and do not keep My commands [and] My statutes that I have set before you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them,

৬কিন্তু যদি তোমরা কিম্বা তোমাদের সন্তানেরা আমার কাছ থেকে ফিরে যাও এবং তোমাদের কাছে দেওয়া আমার আদেশ ও নিয়ম পালন না করে অন্য দেব দেবতার সেবা ও পূজা কর,

7 then I have cut off Israel from the face of the ground that I have given to them, and the house that I have hallowed for My Name I send away from My presence, and Israel has been for an allegory and for a byword among all the peoples;

৭তবে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের যে দেশ আমি দিয়েছি তা থেকে আমি তাদের দূর করে দেব। এই যে উপাসনা ঘরটি আমি আমার বাসস্থান হিসাবে আলাদা করেছি সেটাও আমার চোখের সামনে থেকে দূর করে দেব। তখন ইস্রায়েল অন্যান্য সব জাতির কাছে টিট্‌কারির ও তামাশার পাত্র হবে।

8 as for this house [that] is high, everyone passing by it is astonished, and has hissed, and they have said, Why has YHWH done this to this land and to this house?

৮এই উপাসনা ঘরটি এখন মহান হলেও তখন যারা তার মন্দিরের পাশ দিয়ে যাবে তারা চমকে উঠবে এবং ঠাট্টা করে বলবে, ‘কেন সদাপ্রভু এই দেশ ও এই উপাসনা ঘরটির প্রতি এই রকম করলেন?’

9 And they have said, Because that they have forsaken their God YHWH, who brought out their fathers from the land of Egypt, and they lay hold on other gods, and bow themselves to them and serve them; therefore YHWH has brought all this calamity on them.”

৯এর উত্তরে লোকে বলবে, ‘এর কারণ হল, যিনি তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মিশর দেশ থেকে বের করে এনেছিলেন সেই পূর্বপূরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে তারা ত্যাগ করেছে। তারা অন্য দেব দেবতার পিছনে গিয়ে তাদের পূজা ও সেবা করেছে। সেইজন্যই সদাপ্রভু এই সব অমঙ্গল তাদের উপর এনেছেন’।”

10 And it comes to pass, at the end of twenty years, that Solomon has built the two houses, the house of YHWH, and the house of the king.

১০সদাপ্রভুর ঘর ও রাজবাড়ী তৈরী করতে শলোমনের কুড়ি বছর লেগেছিল।

11 Hiram king of Tyre has assisted Solomon with cedar-trees, and with fir-trees, and with gold, according to all his desire; then King Solomon gives to Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

১১সোরের রাজা হীরম শলোমনের ইচ্ছামত এরস ও দেবদারু কাঠ ও সোনা জুগিয়েছিলেন বলে রাজা শলোমন গালীল দেশের কুড়িটা গ্রাম তাঁকে দান করলেন।

12 And Hiram comes out from Tyre to see the cities that Solomon has given to him, and they have not been right in his eyes,

১২হীরম শলোমনের দেওয়া সেই শহরগুলো দেখবার জন্য সোর থেকে আসলেন, কিন্তু সেগুলো দেখে তিনি সন্তুষ্ট হলেন না।

13 and he says, “What [are] these cities that you have given to me, my brother?” And one calls them the land of Cabul to this day.

১৩তিনি শলোমনকে বললেন, “ভাই, এগুলো কি রকম শহর আপনি আমাকে দিলেন?” তিনি সেগুলোর নাম দিলেন কাবূল দেশ যার মানে “কোনো কাজের নয়”। আজও সেগুলোর সেই নামই রয়ে গেছে।

14 And Hiram sends one hundred and twenty talents of gold to the king.

১৪হীরম মোট সাড়ে চার টনেরও বেশী সোনা রাজাকে পাঠিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন।

15 And this [is] the matter of the tribute that King Solomon has lifted up, to build the house of YHWH, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer

১৫রাজা শলোমন সদাপ্রভুর ঘর, নিজের রাজবাড়ী, মিল্লো, যিরূশালেমের দেয়াল, হাৎসোর, মগিদ্দো ও গেষর তৈরী করবার জন্য অনেক লোকদের কাজ করতে বাধ্য করেছিলেন।

16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt has gone up and captures Gezer, and burns it with fire, and he has slain the Canaanite who is dwelling in the city, and gives it [as] presents to his daughter, wife of Solomon).

১৬এর আগে মিশরের রাজা ফরৌণ গেষর অধিকার করে সেটা আগুনে পুড়িয়ে দিয়েছিলেন আর সেখানকার বাসিন্দা কনানীয়দের মেরে ফেলেছিলেন। পরে ফরৌণ জায়গাটা তাঁর মেয়েকে, অর্থাৎ শলোমনের স্ত্রীকে বিয়ের যৌতুক হিসাবে দিয়েছিলেন।

17 And Solomon builds Gezer, and the lower Beth-Horon,

১৭সেইজন্য শলোমন গেষর আবার তৈরী করে নিয়েছিলেন। এছাড়া তিনি নীচের বৈৎ-হোরোণ,

18 and Ba‘alath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

১৮বালৎ, যিহূদার মরু এলাকার তামর,

19 and all the cities of stores that King Solomon has, and the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen, and the desire of Solomon that he desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

১৯তাঁর সমস্ত ভান্ডার শহর এবং রথ ও ঘোড়সওয়ারদের জন্য শহর তৈরী করলেন, অর্থাৎ যিরূশালেম, লেবানন ও তাঁর শাসনের অধীনে যে সব রাজ্য ছিল সেগুলোর মধ্যে যা যা নিজের খুশির জন্য তিনি তৈরী করতে চেয়েছিলেন তা সবই করলেন।

20 The whole of the people that is left of the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, who [are] not of the sons of Israel—

২০যারা ইস্রায়েলীয় ছিল না, অর্থাৎ যে সব ইমোরীয়, হিত্তীয়, পরিষীয়, হিব্বীয় ও যিবূষীয়দের বংশধরেরা তখনও দেশে বেঁচে ছিল,

21 their sons who are left behind them in the land, whom the sons of Israel have not been able to devote—he has even lifted up a tribute of service [on] them to this day.

২১যাদের ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা সম্পূর্ণভাবে ধ্বংস করতে পারে নি, তাদেরকেই শলোমন দাস হিসাবে কাজ করতে বাধ্য করেছিলেন, আর তারা আজও সেই কাজ করছে।

22 And Solomon has not appointed a servant out of the sons of Israel, for they [are] the men of war, and his servants, and his heads, and his captains, and the heads of his chariots, and his horsemen.

২২কিন্তু তিনি কোনো ইস্রায়েলীয়কে দাস করেন নি; তারা ছিল তাঁর যোদ্ধা, তাঁর কর্মচারী, তাঁর অধীন শাসনকর্ত্তা, তাঁর সেনাপতি এবং তাঁর রথচালক ও ঘোড়সওয়ারদের সেনাপতি।

23 These [are] the five hundred and fifty heads of the officers who [are] over the work of Solomon, those ruling among the people who are laboring in the work.

২৩এছাড়া শলোমনের সব কাজের দেখাশোনার ভার পাওয়া পাঁচশো পঞ্চাশ জন প্রধান কর্মচারী ছিল। যে লোকেরা কাজ করত এরা তাদের কাজ তদারক করত।

24 Only, the daughter of Pharaoh went up out of the City of David to her house that [Solomon] built for her; then he built Millo.

২৪ফরৌণের মেয়ে দায়ূদ শহর ছেড়ে তাঁর জন্য শলোমনের তৈরী করা রাজবাড়ীতে চলে আসলে পর শলোমন মিল্লো শহর তৈরী করলেন।

25 And Solomon caused burnt-offerings and peace-offerings to ascend three times in a year on the altar that he built for YHWH, and he burned it as incense with that which [is] before YHWH, and finished the house.

২৫সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে শলোমন যে বেদীটা তৈরী করেছিলেন সেখানে বছরে তিনবার তিনি হোমবলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক বলি উত্সর্গ করতেন। সেই সঙ্গে তিনি সদাপ্রভুর সামনে ধূপও জ্বালাতেন। এই ভাবে, শলোমন উপাসনা ঘরের সব কাজ শেষ করেছিলেন।

26 And King Solomon has made a navy in Ezion-Geber, that is beside Eloth, on the edge of the Sea of Suph, in the land of Edom.

২৬রাজা শলোমন সুফসাগরের তীরে ইদোমের এলৎ শহরের কাছে ইৎসিয়োন গেবরে কিছু জাহাজ তৈরী করলেন।

27 And Hiram sends his servants in the navy, shipmen knowing the sea, with servants of Solomon,

২৭শলোমনের লোকদের সঙ্গে নৌবহরে কাজ করবার জন্য হীরম তাঁর কয়েকজন দক্ষ নাবিক সেই সব জাহাজে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।

28 and they come to Ophir, and take four hundred and twenty talents of gold from there, and bring [it] to King Solomon.

২৮তারা ওফীরে গিয়ে প্রায় সাড়ে ষোল টন সোনা নিয়ে এসে রাজা শলোমনকে দিল।
