1 Kings 7
1 And Solomon has built his own house [in] thirteen years, and he finishes all his house.
Salomon bâtit aussi son propre palais, et consacra treize années à l’achever complètement.
2 And he builds the House of the Forest of Lebanon; its length [is] one hundred cubits, and its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, on four rows of cedar pillars, and cedar-beams on the pillars;
Il construisit d’abord la maison de la Forêt du Liban, en lui donnant cent coudées de longueur, cinquante coudées de largeur et trente coudées de hauteur, sur quatre rangées de colonnes en bois de cèdre, surmontées de planches de cèdre.
3 and [it is] covered with cedar above, on the sides that [are] on the forty-five pillars, fifteen in the row.
Un plafond de bois de cèdre s’étendait au-dessus des chambres, supportées par les colonnes, au nombre de quarante-cinq, quinze par rangée.
4 And frames [are] in three rows, and window [is] toward window three times.
Trois rangées de baies avec leurs fenêtres, qui se correspondaient sur les trois rangées.
5 And all the openings and the doorposts [are of] square frame; and window [is] toward window three times.
Toutes les portes avec leurs poteaux étaient carrées d’aspect, et, à l’instar des fenêtres symétriques, se correspondaient trois fois:
6 And he has made the porch of the pillars; its length fifty cubits, and its breadth thirty cubits, and the porch [is] before them, and pillars and a thick place [are] before them.
On fit le portique conduisant aux colonnes, long de cinquante coudées, large de trente, situé en face de ces colonnes, ayant lui-même des colonnes avec leur architrave.
7 And the porch of the throne where he judges—the porch of judgment—he has made, and [it is] covered with cedar from the floor to the floor.
On fit ensuite le portique du trône où le roi devait rendre la justice, le portique du Jugement, qu’on planchéia de cèdre, d’une extrémité du sol à l’autre.
8 As for his house where he dwells, the other court [is] within the porch—it has been as this work; and he makes a house for the daughter of Pharaoh—whom Solomon has taken—like this porch.
Même disposition pour la maison où il devait résider, ayant une autre cour, en deçà du portique; on bâtit aussi un palais, avec un portique semblable, pour la fille de Pharaon que Salomon avait épousée.
9 All these [are] of precious stones, according to the measures of hewn work, sawn with a saw, inside and outside, even from the foundation to the coping, and at the outside, to the great court.
Le tout en pierres massives, de la dimension des pierres de taille, équarries à la scie en tout sens, étagées de la base au faîte, et extérieurement jusqu’à la grande cour.
10 And the foundation [is] of precious stones, great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits;
Aux fondations, des pierres massives, énormes, ayant les unes dix, les autres huit coudées.
11 and precious stones [are] above, according to the measures of hewn work, and cedar;
Pour la bâtisse supérieure, on employa des pierres massives, de la dimension de pierres de taille, et du bois de cèdre.
12 and the great court around [is] three rows of hewn work, and a row of cedar-beams, even for the inner court of the house of YHWH, and for the porch of the house.
La grande cour d’enceinte était formée de trois rangées de pierres de taille et d’une rangée de planches de cèdre; il en était de même pour la cour intérieure de la maison de Dieu et pour le portique du palais.
13 And King Solomon sends and takes Hiram out of Tyre—
Le roi Salomon fit venir Hiram de Tyr.
14 he [is the] son of a woman, a widow, of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father [is] a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze, and he is filled with the wisdom and the understanding, and the knowledge to do all work in bronze—and he comes to King Solomon, and does all his work.
C’Était le fils d’une veuve de la tribu de Nephtali, et son père était un Tyrien, ouvrier en cuivre; lui-même était plein de talent et d’industrie, habile à tous les travaux du cuivre. Il se rendit auprès du roi Salomon et exécuta tous ses ouvrages.
15 And he forms the two pillars of bronze; eighteen cubits [is] the height of the first pillar, and a cord of twelve cubits goes around the second pillar.
Il moula les deux colonnes de cuivre, dont l’une était haute de dix-huit coudées, et un fil de douze coudées mesurait le tour de l’autre.
16 And he has made two chapiters to put on the tops of the pillars, cast in bronze; five cubits the height of the first capital, and five cubits the height of the second capital.
Il fit ensuite deux chapiteaux, coulés en cuivre, pour les fixer au sommet des colonnes; ces chapiteaux avaient chacun cinq coudées de hauteur.
17 Nets of network, wreaths of chain-work [are] for the chapiters that [are] on the top of the pillars, seven for the first capital, and seven for the second capital.
Des entrelacs en forme de réseaux, des festons en forme de chaînes décoraient les chapiteaux au sommet des colonnes; il y en avait sept sur chacun des chapiteaux.
18 And he makes the pillars, and two rows around on the one network, to cover the chapiters that [are] on the top, with the pomegranates, and so he has made for the second capital.
Il disposa des grenades en deux rangées, qui entouraient l’un des entrelacs et cachaient le chapiteau au sommet d’une des colonnes même disposition pour l’autre chapiteau.
19 And the chapiters that [are] on the top of the pillars [are] of lily-work in the porch, four cubits;
Les chapiteaux qui surmontaient les colonnes dans le portique étaient relevés de lis, à la hauteur de quatre coudées.
20 and the chapiters on the two pillars also [have pomegranates] above, close by the protuberance that [is] beside the net; and the pomegranates [are] two hundred, in rows around on the second capital.
Aux chapiteaux des deux colonnes, par en haut, près du renflement correspondant aux entrelacs, étaient deux cents grenades en deux rangées, entourant aussi le second chapiteau.
21 And he raises up the pillars for the porch of the temple, and he raises up the right pillar, and calls its name Jachin, and he raises up the left pillar, and calls its name Boaz;
Il dressa ensuite les colonnes près du portique du hékhal, donna à la colonne de droite le nom de Yakhin et à celle de gauche le nom de Boaz.
22 and on the top of the pillars [is] lily-work; and the work of the pillars [is] completed.
Le sommet des colonnes était travaillé en forme de lis. Ainsi fut terminée l’exécution des colonnes.
23 And he makes the molten sea, ten by the cubit from its edge to its edge; [it is] round all about, and its height [is] five by the cubit, and a line of thirty by the cubit surrounds it around;
Puis il jeta en fonte la Mer. Parfaitement circulaire, elle avait dix coudées d’un bord à l’autre, et cinq coudées de hauteur; une ligne de trente coudées en mesurait le tour.
24 and knobs beneath its brim around are going around it, ten by the cubit, going around the sea; the knobs [are] in two rows, cast in its being cast.
Des coloquintes, au-dessous du rebord, étaient disposées tout autour; au nombre de dix par coudée, elles couvraient la circonférence de la Mer. Ces coloquintes, formant deux rangées, avaient été fondues du même jet que la Mer.
25 It is standing on twelve oxen, three facing the north, and three facing the west, and three facing the south, and three facing the east, and the sea [is] on them above, and all their back parts [are] inward.
Elle était supportée par douze bœufs, dont trois regardaient le nord, trois le couchant, trois le midi et trois le levant; la Mer reposait sur eux, et leurs croupes à tous étaient tournées vers l’intérieur.
26 And its thickness [is] a handbreadth, and its edge [is] as the work of the edge of a cup, [as] flowers of lilies; it contains two thousand baths.
Elle avait un palme d’épaisseur, et son rebord était travaillé en forme de calices de fleurs de lis; sa capacité était de deux mille bath.
27 And he makes the ten bases of bronze; the length of the one base [is] four by the cubit, and its breadth [is] four by the cubit, and its height [is] three by the cubit.
Il fit dix supports de cuivre, ayant chacun quatre coudées de long, quatre de large et trois de hauteur.
28 And this [is] the work of the base: they have borders, and the borders [are] between the joinings;
Voici comment étaient faits ces supports: ils étaient garnis de moulures, et ces moulures séparaient les échelons.
29 and on the borders that [are] between the joinings [are] lions, oxen, and cherubim, and on the joinings a base above, and beneath the lions and the oxen [are] additions—sloping work.
Sur ces moulures séparant les échelons étaient figurés des lions, des bœufs et des chérubins; pareillement sur le haut des échelons; et, au-dessous des lions et des chérubins, des degrés disposés en pente.
30 And four wheels of bronze [are] for the one base, and axles of bronze; and its four corners have shoulders—the molten shoulders [are] under the laver, beside each addition.
Chaque support avait quatre roues de cuivre avec des essieux de cuivre; les quatre coins étaient munis de consoles qui étaient fondues de manière à soutenir le bassin, et dont chacune faisait face aux degrés.
31 And its mouth within the capital and above [is] by the cubit, and its mouth [is] round, the work of the base, a cubit and half a cubit; and also on its mouth [are] carvings and their borders, square, not round.
L’Ouverture du bassin se trouvait à une coudée au-dessus de son rebord, dont l’ouverture était arrondie, formait support et avait une dimension d’une coudée et demie cette ouverture aussi était garnie d’ornements à moulures carrées, et non arrondies.
32 And the four wheels [are] under the borders, and the spokes of the wheels [are] in the base, and the height of the one wheel [is] a cubit and half a cubit.
Au-dessous de ces moulures se trouvaient quatre roues, dont les essieux tenaient au support, et dont chacune était haute d’une coudée et demie.
33 And the work of the wheels [is] as the work of the wheel of a chariot, their spokes, and their axles, and their felloes, and their naves; the whole [is] molten.
La forme de ces roues était celle des roues d’un char: leurs essieux, leurs jantes, leurs rayons, leurs moyeux, le tout avait été fondu.
34 And four shoulders [are] for the four corners of the one base; its shoulders [are] out of the base.
Les quatre consoles qui étaient aux quatre angles de chaque support faisaient corps avec lui.
35 And in the top of the base [is] the half of a cubit in the height all around; and on the top of the base its spokes and its borders [are] of the same.
Au-dessus du support s’élevait une saillie circulaire d’une demi-coudée de hauteur; et les tenons à son sommet, ainsi que ses moulures, faisaient corps avec lui.
36 And he engraves on the tablets of its spokes, and on its borders, cherubim, lions, and palm-trees, according to the void space of each, and additions all around.
Sur les plaques de ses tenons et sur ses moulures, il grava des chérubins, des lions et des palmes, selon l’espacement de chaque pièce et des degrés tout autour.
37 Thus he has made the ten bases; they all have one casting, one measure, one form.
Il procéda de la même façon pour les dix supports: même fonte, même dimension, même forme pour tous.
38 And he makes ten lavers of bronze; the one laver contains forty baths [and] the one laver [is] four by the cubit; one laver on the one base [is] for [each of] the ten bases;
Il fabriqua dix bassins de cuivre, ayant chacun une contenance de quarante bath et quatre coudées de hauteur; chaque bassin reposait sur un des dix supports.
39 and he puts the five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house, and he has put the sea on the right side of the house eastward—from toward the south.
Il posa cinq supports sur le côté droit du temple, cinq sur le côté gauche, et il plaça la Mer sur le côté droit, vers le sud-est.
40 And Hiram makes the lavers, and the shovels, and the bowls; and Hiram completes to do all the work that he made for King Solomon, [for] the house of YHWH:
Hiram fabriqua aussi les cendriers, les pelles, les bassins d’aspersion, et termina tous les travaux qu’il avait entrepris pour le roi Salomon, pour le temple du Seigneur.
41 two pillars, and bowls of the chapiters that [are] on the top of the two pillars, and the two nets to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that [are] on the top of the pillars;
Les deux colonnes, avec les deux chapiteaux arrondis qui les surmontaient, et les deux entrelacs pour envelopper chacun de ces chapiteaux placés au sommet des colonnes;
42 and the four hundred pomegranates for the two nets (two rows of pomegranates for the one net to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that [are] on the front of the pillars);
les quatre cents grenades pour ces deux entrelacs, deux rangées de grenades pour chaque entrelacs, qui enveloppaient les deux chapiteaux arrondis des colonnes;
43 and the ten bases, and the ten lavers on the bases;
les dix supports et les dix bassins qu’ils soutenaient;
44 and the one sea, the twelve oxen under the sea,
la Mer unique, avec les douze bœufs qui la supportaient;
45 and the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls; and all these vessels, that Hiram has made for King Solomon [for] the house of YHWH, [are] of polished bronze.
les cendriers, les pelles, les bassins d’aspersion, —tous ces objets, fabriqués par Hiram pour le roi Salomon, pour la maison du Seigneur, étaient en cuivre poli.
46 The king has cast them in the circuit of the Jordan, in the thick soil of the ground, between Succoth and Zarthan.
C’Est dans la plaine du Jourdain, entre Souccot et Çaretân, que le roi les fit fondre dans une terre grasse.
47 And Solomon places the whole of the vessels; because of the very great abundance, the weight of the bronze has not been searched out.
Salomon renonça à évaluer tant d’objets, à cause de leur quantité prodigieuse; le poids du cuivre ne fut pas vérifié.
48 And Solomon makes all the vessels that [are] in the house of YHWH: the altar of gold, and the table of gold (on which [is] the Bread of the Presentation),
Salomon fit confectionner le reste des objets destinés à la maison du Seigneur: l’autel d’or, la table d’or pour les pains de proposition;
49 and the lampstands, five on the right, and five on the left, before the oracle, of refined gold, and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold,
les candélabres d’or fin, cinq à droite et cinq à gauche, devant le debir, avec leurs fleurons, leurs lampes et leurs mouchettes d’or;
50 and the basins, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the censers, of refined gold, and the hinges for the doors of the inner-house, for the Holy of Holies, for the doors of the house of the temple, of gold.
les coupes, les couteaux, les bassins, les cuillers, les encensoirs, en or fin; et les gonds, soit des portes de l’enceinte intérieure, du Saint des saints, soit des portes de l’enceinte du hêkhal, également en or.
51 And it is complete—all the work that King Solomon has made [for] the house of YHWH, and Solomon brings in the sanctified things of his father David; he has put the silver, and the gold, and the vessels in the treasuries of the house of YHWH.
Tous les travaux, entrepris par le roi Salomon pour la maison du Seigneur, étant terminés, Salomon réunit les legs pieux de David, son père, en argent, or, vases, et les déposa dans les trésors du temple.
