1 Kings 5
1 And Hiram king of Tyre sends his servants to Solomon, for he heard that they had anointed him for king instead of his father, for Hiram was loving toward David all the days;
Hiram, rey de Tiro, envió a sus servidores a Salomón, pues había oído que lo habían ungido rey en lugar de su padre, y Hiram siempre había amado a David.
2 and Solomon sends to Hiram, saying,
Salomón envió a decir a Hiram:
3 “You have known my father David, that he has not been able to build a house for the Name of his God YHWH, because of the wars that have been all around him, until YHWH’s putting them under the soles of his feet.
“Sabes que mi padre David no pudo construir una casa para el nombre de Yahvé, su Dios, a causa de las guerras que lo rodeaban por todas partes, hasta que Yahvé puso a sus enemigos bajo la planta de sus pies.
4 And now, my God YHWH has given rest to me all around, there is no adversary nor evil occurrence,
Pero ahora el Señor, mi Dios, me ha dado descanso por todos lados. No hay enemigo ni ocurrencia del mal.
5 and behold, I am saying to build a house for the Name of my God YHWH, as YHWH spoke to my father David, saying, Your son whom I appoint in your stead on your throne, he builds the house for My Name.
He aquí que me propongo edificar una casa para el nombre de Yahvé, mi Dios, tal como Yahvé habló a David, mi padre, diciendo: “Tu hijo, a quien pondré en tu trono en tu lugar, edificará la casa para mi nombre.’
6 And now, command, and they cut down cedars for me out of Lebanon, and my servants are with your servants, and I give the hire of your servants to you according to all that you say, for you have known that there is not a man among us acquainted with cutting wood, like the Sidonians.”
Ordena, pues, que se corten para mí cedros del Líbano. Mis siervos estarán con los tuyos, y yo te daré un salario para tus siervos, según todo lo que digas. Porque sabes que no hay nadie entre nosotros que sepa cortar madera como los sidonios”.
7 And it comes to pass at Hiram’s hearing the words of Solomon, that he rejoices exceedingly and says, “Blessed [is] YHWH today, who has given to David a wise son over this numerous people.”
Cuando Hiram oyó las palabras de Salomón, se alegró mucho y dijo: “Bendito sea hoy Yahvé, que ha dado a David un hijo sabio para gobernar este gran pueblo.”
8 And Hiram sends to Solomon, saying, “I have heard that which you have sent to me, I do all your desire concerning cedar-wood and fir-wood;
Hiram envió a decir a Salomón: “He oído el mensaje que me has enviado. Haré todo lo que desees en cuanto a la madera de cedro y de ciprés.
9 my servants bring [them] down from Lebanon to the sea, and I make them floats in the sea to the place that you send to me, and I have spread them out there; and you take [them] up, and you execute my desire, to give the food [for] my house.”
Mis servidores las bajarán del Líbano al mar. Yo las convertiré en balsas para que vayan por mar al lugar que me indiques, y allí las haré partir, y tú las recibirás. Cumplirás mi deseo, al dar alimento a mi casa”.
10 And Hiram is giving cedar-trees and fir-trees to Solomon—all his desire,
Entonces Hiram le dio a Salomón madera de cedro y de ciprés según su deseo.
11 and Solomon has given twenty thousand cors of wheat to Hiram, [the] food for his house, and twenty cors of beaten oil; thus Solomon gives to Hiram year by year.
Salomón le dio a Hiram veinte mil cors de trigo para la comida de su casa, y veinte cors de aceite puro. Salomón le daba esto a Hiram año tras año.
12 And YHWH has given wisdom to Solomon as He spoke to him, and there is peace between Hiram and Solomon, and both of them make a covenant.
El Señor le dio a Salomón la sabiduría que le había prometido. Hubo paz entre Hiram y Salomón, y ambos hicieron un tratado juntos.
13 And King Solomon lifts up a tribute out of all Israel, and the tribute is thirty thousand men,
El rey Salomón levantó una leva de todo Israel; la leva fue de treinta mil hombres.
14 and he sends them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month, by changes; they are in Lebanon [for] a month [and] two months in their own house; and Adoniram [is] over the tribute.
Los envió al Líbano, diez mil al mes por cursos; durante un mes estaban en el Líbano, y dos meses en casa; y Adoniram estaba al frente de los hombres sometidos a trabajos forzados.
15 And King Solomon has seventy thousand bearing burdens, and eighty thousand hewing in the mountain,
Salomón tenía setenta mil que llevaban cargas, y ochenta mil que eran cortadores de piedra en las montañas,
16 apart from the three thousand and three hundred heads of the officers of Solomon who [are] over the work—those ruling over the people who are working in the business.
además de los oficiales principales de Salomón que estaban al frente de la obra: tres mil trescientos que mandaban sobre el pueblo que trabajaba en la obra.
17 And the king commands, and they bring great stones, precious stones, [and] hewn stones, to lay the foundation of the house;
El rey ordenó, y ellos cortaron piedras grandes, piedras costosas, para poner los cimientos de la casa con piedra labrada.
18 and the builders of Solomon, and the builders of Hiram, and the Giblites hew [them], and prepare the wood and the stones to build the house.
Los constructores de Salomóny los constructores de Hiram y los gebalitas las cortaron y prepararon la madera y las piedras para construir la casa.
