1 Kings 3
1 And Solomon joins in marriage with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and takes the daughter of Pharaoh, and brings her to the City of David, until he completes to build his own house, and the house of YHWH, and the wall of Jerusalem all around.
੧ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਹਿਲ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਪਨਾਹ ਬਣਨ ਤੱਕ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
2 Only, the people are sacrificing in high places, for there has not been built a house for the Name of YHWH until those days.
੨ਲੋਕ ਕੇਵਲ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਭਵਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਲਈ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਬਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
3 And Solomon loves YHWH, to walk in the statutes of his father David—only, he is sacrificing and making incense in high places—
੩ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਧੂਪ ਧੁਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
4 and the king goes to Gibeon, to sacrifice there, for it [is] the great high place; Solomon causes one thousand burnt-offerings to ascend on that altar.
੪ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੋਮ ਬਲੀ ਲਈ ਗਿਬਓਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਉੱਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਥਾਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਇੱਕ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ।
5 YHWH has appeared to Solomon in Gibeon, in a dream of the night, and God says, “Ask—what do I give to you?”
੫ਗਿਬਓਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਸੁਫ਼ਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੰਗ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇਵਾਂ?
6 And Solomon says, “You have done with Your servant, my father David, great kindness, as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You, and You keep this great kindness for him, and give to him a son sitting on his throne, as [at] this day.
੬ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਯਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਸਚਿਆਈ, ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਰਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਯਾ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੈ।
7 And now, O YHWH my God, You have caused Your servant to reign instead of my father David; and I [am] a little child, I do not know [how] to go out and to come in;
੭ਹੁਣ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
8 and Your servant [is] in the midst of your people, whom You have chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude,
੮ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਨਾ ਗਿਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
9 and You have given an understanding heart to Your servant, to judge Your people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
੯ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਭਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਐਨੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕੌਣ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
10 And the thing is good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon has asked this thing,
੧੦ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗੀ, ਕਿ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮੰਗੀ ਹੈ।
11 and God says to him, “Because that you have asked for this thing, and have not asked for many days for yourself, nor asked for riches for yourself, nor asked for the life of your enemies, and have asked for discernment for yourself to understand judgment,
੧੧ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗੇ ਨਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਧਨ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮੰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਲਈ ਬੁੱਧ ਮੰਗੀ ਹੈ।
12 behold, I have done according to your words; behold, I have given a wise and understanding heart to you, that there has not been [one] like you before you, and after you there does not arise [one] like you;
੧੨ਵੇਖ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੋਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਉੱਠੇਗਾ।
13 and also, that which you have not asked for I have given to you, both riches and honor, that there has not been a man like you among the kings [for] all your days;
੧੩ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਜੋ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
14 and if you walk in My ways to keep My statutes, and My commands, as your father David walked, then I have prolonged your days.”
੧੪ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਨਾ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਧਾਵਾਂਗਾ।
15 And Solomon awakens, and behold, [it was] a dream; and he comes to Jerusalem, and stands before the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH, and causes burnt-offerings to ascend, and makes peace-offerings, and he makes a banquet for all his servants.
੧੫ਤਦ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਜਾਗ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਫ਼ਨਾ ਹੈ। ਫੇਰ ਉਹ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੱਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਦਾਵਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
16 Then two women, harlots, come to the king, and they stand before him,
੧੬ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੋ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਵੇਸਵਾਂ ਸਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਆ ਖੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ।
17 and the first woman says, “O my lord, this woman and I are dwelling in one house, and I bring forth with her, in the house;
੧੭ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ, ਅਸੀਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਇੱਕੋ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਇੱਕ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
18 and it comes to pass on the third day of my bringing forth, that this woman also brings forth, and we [are] together, there is no stranger with us in the house, except the two of us, in the house.
੧੮ਤਦ ਤੀਜੇ ਦਿਨ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਚੁੱਕੀ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਅਸੀਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਓਪਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
19 And the son of this woman dies at night, because she has lain on him,
੧੯ਇਸ ਔਰਤ ਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੇਟ ਗਈ ਸੀ।
20 and she rises in the middle of the night, and takes my son from beside me—and your handmaid is asleep—and lays him in her bosom, and she has laid her dead son in my bosom;
੨੦ਤਦ ਇਹ ਅੱਧੀ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਠੀ, ਜਦ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੁੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਿੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਟਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਿੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
21 and I rise in the morning to suckle my son, and behold, [he is] dead; and I consider in the morning concerning it, and behold, it was not my son whom I bore.”
੨੧ਸਵੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਧ ਚੁੰਘਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉੱਠੀ ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖੋ ਉਹ ਮਰਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਜਦ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ।
22 And the other woman says, “No, but my son [is] the living, and your son the dead”; and this [one] says, “No, but your son [is] the dead, and my son the living.” And they speak before the king.
੨੨ਤਦ ਦੂਜੀ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।
23 And the king says, “This [one] says, This [is] my son, the living, and your son [is] the dead; and that [one] says, No, but your son [is] the dead, and my son the living.”
੨੩ਤਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇੱਕ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਸਰੀ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਸ ਦਾ।
24 And the king says, “Take a sword for me”; and they bring the sword before the king,
੨੪ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਆਓ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਇੱਕ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਆਏ।
25 and the king says, “Cut the living child into two, and give half to one, and half to the other.”
੨੫ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਸ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੀਰ ਸੁੱਟੋ। ਅੱਧਾ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਧਾ ਦੂਜੀ ਨੂੰ।
26 And the woman whose son [is] the living one says to the king (for her bowels yearned over her son), indeed, she says, “O my lord, give the living child to her, and do not put him to death at all”; and this [one] says, “Let him be neither mine or yours—cut [him].”
੨੬ਤਦ ਉਹ ਔਰਤ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੀ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ, ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਇਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮਾਰੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਲਈ ਬਲ ਉੱਠੀ ਸੀ। ਦੂਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਹ ਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਹੇ ਨਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਗੋਂ ਚੀਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ।
27 And the king answers and says, “Give the living child to her [who wants him], and do not put him to death at all; she [is] his mother.”
੨੭ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਇਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਮਾਰੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਇਹੋ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
28 And all [in] Israel hear of the judgment that the king has judged, and fear because of the king, for they have seen that the wisdom of God [is] in his heart to do judgment.
੨੮ਤਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਡਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
