1 Kings 3
1 And Solomon joins in marriage with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and takes the daughter of Pharaoh, and brings her to the City of David, until he completes to build his own house, and the house of YHWH, and the wall of Jerusalem all around.
Og Salomo besvogrede sig med Farao, Kongen af Ægypten, og tog Faraos Datter og førte hende ind i Davids Stad, indtil han havde fuldendt at bygge sit Hus og Herrens Hus og Jerusalems Mur trindt omkring;
2 Only, the people are sacrificing in high places, for there has not been built a house for the Name of YHWH until those days.
ikkun at Folket ofrede paa Højene; thi der var ikke bygget et Hus til Herrens Navn indtil disse Dage.
3 And Solomon loves YHWH, to walk in the statutes of his father David—only, he is sacrificing and making incense in high places—
Men Salomo elskede Herren og vandrede efter Davids sin Faders Skikke, kun at han ofrede og gjorde Røgelse paa Højene.
4 and the king goes to Gibeon, to sacrifice there, for it [is] the great high place; Solomon causes one thousand burnt-offerings to ascend on that altar.
Og Kongen gik til Gibeon for at ofre der, thi der var den store Høj, og Salomo ofrede tusinde Brændofre paa dette Alter.
5 YHWH has appeared to Solomon in Gibeon, in a dream of the night, and God says, “Ask—what do I give to you?”
Herren aabenbarede sig for Salomo i Gibeon om Natten i en Drøm, og Gud sagde: Begær, hvad jeg skal give dig.
6 And Solomon says, “You have done with Your servant, my father David, great kindness, as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You, and You keep this great kindness for him, and give to him a son sitting on his throne, as [at] this day.
Og Salomo sagde: Du har gjort stor Miskundhed imod din Tjener David, min Fader, ligesom han og vandrede for dit Ansigt i Sandhed og i Retfærdighed og i Hjertets Oprigtighed imod dig; og du har bevaret ham denne store Miskundhed og har givet ham en Søn, som sidder paa hans Trone, som det ses paa denne Dag.
7 And now, O YHWH my God, You have caused Your servant to reign instead of my father David; and I [am] a little child, I do not know [how] to go out and to come in;
Og nu, Herre, min Gud! du har gjort din Tjener til Konge i min Fader Davids Sted; men jeg er et ungt Menneske, og jeg forstaar ikke at gaa ud eller ind;
8 and Your servant [is] in the midst of your people, whom You have chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude,
og din Tjener er midt iblandt dit Folk, som du har udvalgt, et stort Folk, saa det ikke kan tælles eller beregnes for Mangfoldigheds Skyld:
9 and You have given an understanding heart to Your servant, to judge Your people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
Saa giv din Tjener et forstandigt Hjerte til at dømme dit Folk og til med Forstand at skelne imellem godt og ondt; thi hvo kan dømme dette dit mægtige Folk?
10 And the thing is good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon has asked this thing,
Og det Ord var godt for Herrens Øjne, at Salomo begærede denne Ting.
11 and God says to him, “Because that you have asked for this thing, and have not asked for many days for yourself, nor asked for riches for yourself, nor asked for the life of your enemies, and have asked for discernment for yourself to understand judgment,
Og Gud sagde til ham: Efterdi du har begæret denne Ting og ikke har begæret dig et langt Liv og ikke har begæret dig Rigdom og ikke har begæret dine Fjenders Sjæl, men har begæret dig Forstand til at holde Dom:
12 behold, I have done according to your words; behold, I have given a wise and understanding heart to you, that there has not been [one] like you before you, and after you there does not arise [one] like you;
Se, saa har jeg gjort efter dit Ord, se, jeg har givet dig et viist og forstandigt Hjerte, at der ikke har været nogen som du før dig; ej heller nogen som du skal opstaa efter dig.
13 and also, that which you have not asked for I have given to you, both riches and honor, that there has not been a man like you among the kings [for] all your days;
Og jeg har endog givet dig det, som du ikke har begæret, baade Rigdom og Ære, saa at der ikke har været nogen som du iblandt Kongerne i alle dine Dage.
14 and if you walk in My ways to keep My statutes, and My commands, as your father David walked, then I have prolonged your days.”
Og dersom du vandrer i mine Veje, at holde mine Skikke og mine Bud, saaledes som David din Fader har vandret, da vil jeg forlænge dine Dage.
15 And Solomon awakens, and behold, [it was] a dream; and he comes to Jerusalem, and stands before the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH, and causes burnt-offerings to ascend, and makes peace-offerings, and he makes a banquet for all his servants.
Og Salomo vaagnede, og se, det var en Drøm; og han kom til Jerusalem og stod foran Herrens Pagts Ark og ofrede Brændofre og gjorde Takofre og gjorde alle sine Tjenere et Gæstebud.
16 Then two women, harlots, come to the king, and they stand before him,
Da kom to Kvinder, som vare Skøger, til Kongen, og de stode for hans Ansigt.
17 and the first woman says, “O my lord, this woman and I are dwelling in one house, and I bring forth with her, in the house;
Og den ene Kvinde sagde: Hør mig, min Herre! jeg og denne Kvinde boede i eet Hus, og jeg fødte hos hende i Huset.
18 and it comes to pass on the third day of my bringing forth, that this woman also brings forth, and we [are] together, there is no stranger with us in the house, except the two of us, in the house.
Og det skete paa den tredje Dag, efter at jeg havde født, da fødte ogsaa denne Kvinde; og vi vare sammen, der var ingen fremmed hos os i Huset, uden vi to i Huset.
19 And the son of this woman dies at night, because she has lain on him,
Og denne Kvindes Søn døde om Natten, thi hun laa paa ham.
20 and she rises in the middle of the night, and takes my son from beside me—and your handmaid is asleep—and lays him in her bosom, and she has laid her dead son in my bosom;
Og hun stod op midt om Natten og tog min Søn fra min Side, der din Tjenestekvinde sov, og hun lagde ham i sin Arm, og lagde sin døde Søn i min Arm.
21 and I rise in the morning to suckle my son, and behold, [he is] dead; and I consider in the morning concerning it, and behold, it was not my son whom I bore.”
Og jeg stod op om Morgenen, at give min Søn at die, se, da var han død; men om Morgenen gav jeg nøje Agt paa ham, se, da var det ikke min Søn, som jeg havde født.
22 And the other woman says, “No, but my son [is] the living, and your son the dead”; and this [one] says, “No, but your son [is] the dead, and my son the living.” And they speak before the king.
Og den anden Kvinde sagde: Det er ikke saa; thi den levende er min Søn, men den døde er din Søn; og denne sagde: Det er ikke saa; thi den døde er din Søn, men den levende er min Søn; og de talede saa for Kongens Ansigt.
23 And the king says, “This [one] says, This [is] my son, the living, and your son [is] the dead; and that [one] says, No, but your son [is] the dead, and my son the living.”
Da sagde Kongen: Denne siger: Denne er min Søn, den levende, og den døde er din Søn; og denne siger: Det er ikke saa; thi den døde er din Søn, men den levende er min Søn.
24 And the king says, “Take a sword for me”; and they bring the sword before the king,
Og Kongen sagde: Henter mig et Sværd; og de bragte Sværdet ind for Kongens Ansigt.
25 and the king says, “Cut the living child into two, and give half to one, and half to the other.”
Da sagde Kongen: Deler det levende Barn i to Dele, og giver den ene Halvdelen og den anden Halvdelen.
26 And the woman whose son [is] the living one says to the king (for her bowels yearned over her son), indeed, she says, “O my lord, give the living child to her, and do not put him to death at all”; and this [one] says, “Let him be neither mine or yours—cut [him].”
Da sagde Kvinden, hvis Søn den levende var, til Kongen (thi hendes inderste brændte for hendes Søn), ja hun sagde: Hør mig, min Herre! giver hende det levende Barn, og slaar det dog ikke ihjel; men hin sagde: Det skal hverken være mit eller dit, deler det.
27 And the king answers and says, “Give the living child to her [who wants him], and do not put him to death at all; she [is] his mother.”
Og Kongen svarede og sagde: Giver denne det levende Barn, og slaar det ikke ihjel; hun er Moder til det.
28 And all [in] Israel hear of the judgment that the king has judged, and fear because of the king, for they have seen that the wisdom of God [is] in his heart to do judgment.
Og al Israel hørte Dommen, som Kongen havde dømt, og de frygtede for Kongens Ansigt; thi de saa, at Guds Visdom var i ham til at holde Dom.
