1 Kings 19
1 And Ahab declares to Jezebel all that Elijah did, and all of how he slew all the prophets by the sword,
Wtedy Achab opowiedział Jezabel o wszystkim, co Eliasz uczynił, oraz o tym, jak zabił mieczem wszystkich proroków.
2 and Jezebel sends a messenger to Elijah, saying, “Thus the gods do, and thus do they add—surely about this time tomorrow, I make your life as the life of one of them.”
Jezabel wysłała więc posłańca do Eliasza ze słowami: Niech to mi uczynią bogowie i tamto dorzucą, jeśli jutro o tym czasie twojego życia nie uczynię takim jak życie jednego z nich.
3 And he fears, and rises, and goes for his life, and comes to Beer-Sheba, that [is] Judah’s, and leaves his young man there,
Kiedy to zrozumiał, wstał i odszedł, aby [ocalić] swoje życie. Przybył do Beer-Szeby, która należy do Judy, i zostawił tam swego sługę.
4 and he himself has gone a day’s journey into the wilderness, and comes and sits under a certain broom tree, and desires his soul to die, and says, “Enough, now, O YHWH, take my soul, for I [am] not better than my fathers.”
A sam poszedł na pustynię na jeden dzień drogi, a gdy tam doszedł, usiadł pod jałowcem i życzył sobie śmierci, mówiąc: Dosyć już, PANIE. Zabierz moją duszę, bo nie jestem lepszy od swoich ojców.
5 And he lies down and sleeps under a certain broom tree, and behold, a messenger is reaching toward him and says to him, “Rise, eat”;
Potem położył się i zasnął pod tym jałowcem. A wtedy Anioł dotknął go i powiedział mu: Wstań i jedz.
6 and he looks attentively, and behold, at his bolster [is] a cake [on] burning stones, and a dish of water, and he eats, and drinks, and turns, and lies down.
A gdy spojrzał, oto przy jego głowie leżał placek pieczony na węgielkach i dzban wody. Jadł więc i pił, i znowu się położył.
7 And the messenger of YHWH turns back a second time, and is reaching toward him, and says, “Rise, eat, for the way is too great for you”;
Anioł PANA wrócił ponownie, dotknął go i powiedział: Wstań i jedz, bo masz przed sobą daleką drogę.
8 and he rises, and eats, and drinks, and goes in the power of that food [for] forty days and forty nights, to the mountain of God—Horeb.
Wstał więc i jadł, i pił, i szedł dzięki mocy tego pokarmu czterdzieści dni i czterdzieści nocy aż do Horebu, góry Boga.
9 And he comes in there, to the cave, and lodges there, and behold, the word of YHWH [is] to him, and says to him, “What are you [doing] here, Elijah?”
Tam wszedł do jaskini, gdzie przenocował. A oto słowo PANA doszło do niego: Co tu robisz, Eliaszu?
10 And he says, “I have been very zealous for YHWH, God of Hosts, for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant—they have thrown down Your altars, and they have slain Your prophets by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life—to take it.”
Odpowiedział: Byłem bardzo gorliwy względem PANA, Boga zastępów. Synowie Izraela bowiem porzucili twoje przymierze, zburzyli twoje ołtarze i pomordowali mieczem twoich proroków. Ja sam tylko pozostałem i szukają mojej duszy, aby mi ją odebrać.
11 And He says, “Go out, and you have stood on the mountain before YHWH.” And behold, YHWH is passing by, and a wind—great and strong—is tearing mountains, and shattering rocks before YHWH, [but] YHWH [is] not in the wind; and after the wind [is] a shaking, [but] YHWH [is] not in the shaking;
Wtedy on powiedział: Wyjdź, stań na górze przed PANEM. A oto PAN przechodził, a potężny i gwałtowny wiatr rozrywał góry i kruszył skały przed PANEM, [ale] PAN nie był w tym wietrze. Po wietrze było trzęsienie ziemi, [ale] PAN nie był i w tym trzęsieniu ziemi.
12 and after the shaking [is] a fire, [but] YHWH [is] not in the fire; and after the fire [is] a voice [like] a small whisper;
Po trzęsieniu ziemi był ogień, [ale] PAN nie był w ogniu. A po tym ogniu był cichy i delikatny głos.
13 and it comes to pass, at Elijah’s hearing [it], that he wraps his face in his robe, and goes out, and stands at the opening of the cave, and behold, a voice [speaks] to him, and it says, “What are you [doing] here, Elijah?”
Gdy Eliasz go usłyszał, zasłonił płaszczem swoją twarz, wyszedł i stanął u wejścia do jaskini. A oto głos przemówił do niego: Co tu robisz, Eliaszu?
14 And he says, “I have been very zealous for YHWH, God of Hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, they have thrown down Your altars, and they have slain Your prophets by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life—to take it.”
A on odpowiedział: Byłem bardzo gorliwy względem PANA, Boga zastępów. Synowie Izraela bowiem porzucili twoje przymierze, zburzyli twoje ołtarze i pomordowali mieczem twoich proroków. Ja sam tylko pozostałem i szukają mojej duszy, aby mi ją odebrać.
15 And YHWH says to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and you have gone in, and anointed Hazael for king over Aram,
Ale PAN powiedział do niego: Idź, wróć tą samą drogą na pustynię Damaszku. A kiedy [tam] przybędziesz, namaścisz Chazaela na króla nad Syrią.
16 and you anoint Jehu son of Nimshi for king over Israel, and you anoint Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel-Meholah, for prophet in your stead.
A Jehu, syna Nimsziego, namaścisz na króla nad Izraelem. Elizeusza zaś, syna Szafata, z Abel-Mechola, namaścisz na proroka po tobie.
17 And it has been, he who has escaped from the sword of Hazael, Jehu puts to death, and he who has escaped from the sword of Jehu, Elisha puts to death;
I stanie się tak, że ktokolwiek uniknie miecza Chazaela, tego zabije Jehu, a ktokolwiek uniknie miecza Jehu, [tego] zabije Elizeusz.
18 and I have left in Israel seven thousand—all the knees that have not bowed to Ba‘al, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”
Jednak zachowałem sobie w Izraelu siedem tysięcy, których kolana nie zginały się przed Baalem i których usta nie całowały go.
19 And he goes there, and finds Elisha son of Shaphat, and he is plowing; twelve yoke [are] before him, and he [is] with the twelfth; and Elijah passes over to him, and casts his robe at him,
Odszedł więc stamtąd i znalazł Elizeusza, syna Szafata, gdy orał. Dwanaście zaprzęgów [wołów szło] przed nim, a on [był] przy dwunastym. Eliasz przeszedł obok niego i wrzucił na niego swój płaszcz.
20 and he forsakes the ox, and runs after Elijah, and says, “Please let me give a kiss to my father and to my mother, and I go after you.” And he says to him, “Go, turn back, for what have I done to you?”
Wtedy opuścił woły, pobiegł za Eliaszem i powiedział: Pozwól mi ucałować swego ojca i swoją matkę, a pójdę za tobą. Odpowiedział: Idź, wróć. Cóż bowiem ci uczyniłem?
21 And he turns back from after him, and takes the yoke of the ox, and sacrifices it, and with [the] instruments of the ox he has boiled its flesh, and gives to the people, and they eat, and he rises, and goes after Elijah, and serves him.
Odszedł więc od niego, wziął zaprzęg wołów i zabił je. A na sprzęcie tych wołów ugotował ich mięso i dał ludowi, a oni jedli. Potem wstał i poszedł za Eliaszem, i służył mu.
