< 1 Kings 17 >
1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, says to Ahab, “YHWH, God of Israel, lives, before whom I have stood, there is not dew and rain these years, except according to my word.”
Koro Elija ja-Tishbi moa Tishbe e piny Gilead nonyiso Ahab niya, “Mana kaka Jehova Nyasaye mangima, ma Nyasach Israel matiyone nitie, tho kata koth ok nobedi kuom higni manok nyaka chop achak awach kendo.”
2 And the word of YHWH is to him, saying,
Eka wach Jehova Nyasaye nobiro ne Elija mowachone niya,
3 “Go from this [place]; and you have turned for yourself eastward, and been hidden by the Brook of Cherith that [is] on the front of the Jordan,
“Aa ka, dhi yo wuok chiengʼ kendo ipondi e holo mar Kerith man yo wuok chiengʼ mar Jordan.
4 and it has been [that] you drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to sustain you there.”
Ibiro modho pi mowuok e soko kendo asechiko winyo mag agak mondo omiyi chiemo kanyo.”
5 And he goes and does according to the word of YHWH, indeed, he goes and dwells by the Brook of Cherith, that [is] on the front of the Jordan,
Kamano notimo gima Jehova Nyasaye nochike. Nodhi e holo mar Kerith yo ka wuok chiengʼ mar aora Jordan kendo nobedo kuno.
6 and the ravens are bringing bread and flesh to him in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening, and he drinks from the brook.
Winyo mag agakgo nokelone kuon gi ringʼo okinyi godhiambo to nomodho e sokono.
7 And it comes to pass, at the end of [the] days, that the brook dries up, for there has been no rain in the land,
Bangʼ kinde moko sokono notwo nikech koth ne pok ochuwe e piny.
8 and the word of YHWH is to him, saying,
Eka wach Jehova Nyasaye nobirone mowachone niya,
9 “Rise, go to Zarephath, that [belongs] to Sidon, and you have dwelt there; behold, I have commanded a widow woman to sustain you there.”
“Dhiyo piyo piyo nyaka Zarefath e piny Sidon kendo ibed kanyo. Asechiko dhako ma chwore otho moro kanyo mondo omiyi chiemo.”
10 And he rises, and goes to Zarephath, and comes to the opening of the city, and behold, there [is] a widow woman gathering sticks, and he calls to her and says, “Please bring a little water to me in a vessel, and I drink.”
Kamano nodhi Zarefath. Kane ochopo e dhoranga dalano, dhako ma chwore otho moro ne ni kanyo ka choko yien. Noluonge mopenje niya, “Bende inyalo kelonae pi matin e agwata agulu mondo amodhi?”
11 And she goes to bring [it], and he calls to her and says, “Please bring a morsel of bread to me in your hand.”
Kane odhi kelo pi, Elija noluonge mowachone niya, “Kendo kiyie, to kelna kuon matin.”
12 And she says, “Your God YHWH lives, I do not have a cake, but the fullness of the hand of meal in a pitcher, and a little oil in a dish; and behold, I am gathering two sticks, and have gone in and prepared it for myself, and for my son, and we have eaten it—and died.”
Eka nodwoko Elija niya, “Mana kaka Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachi ngima aonge gi kuon moro amora makmana mogo matin e agulu kod mo matin e puga. Amodo yien matin mondo ater dala kendo alosgo chiemba kod mar wuoda mondo wacham bangʼe watho.”
13 And Elijah says to her, “Do not fear, go, do according to your word, only make a little cake for me there, in the first place, and you have brought [it] out to me; and for you and for your son make [it] last;
Elija nowachone niya, “Kik ibed maluor dhi dala kendo tim kaka isewacho. To mokwongo losna kuon matin kuom gima in-go mondo ikelna eka ilos gimoro ni in kaachiel gi wuodi
14 for thus said YHWH, God of Israel: The pitcher of meal is not consumed, and the dish of oil is not lacking, until the day of YHWH’s giving a shower on the face of the ground.”
Nimar ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye Nyasach Israel wacho, ‘Agulu mar mogo ok nodongʼ nono kendo puga mar mo ok notwo nyaka chop chiengʼ ma Jehova Nyasaye nokelie koth, e piny.’”
15 And she goes, and does according to the word of Elijah, and she eats, she and he and her household [for many] days;
Nodhi motimo kaka Elija nowachone. Kamano ne nitie chiemo pile ka pile ne Elija gi dhakono kod joode.
16 the pitcher of meal was not consumed, and the dish of oil did not lack, according to the word of YHWH that He spoke by the hand of Elijah.
Nimar agulu mar mogono ne ok odongʼ nono kendo puga mar mo-no ne ok otwo kaluwore gi wach Jehova Nyasaye mane Elija owacho.
17 And it comes to pass, after these things, the son of the woman, mistress of the house, has been sick, and his sickness is very severe until no breath has been left in him.
Bangʼ kinde moko wuod dhakoni ma wuon odno ne tuo, nomedo bedo marach ahinya to bangʼe notho.
18 And she says to Elijah, “What [is this] to me and to you, O man of God? You have come to me to cause my iniquity to be remembered, and to put my son to death!”
Dhakono nopenjo Elija niya, “En rach mane ma in-go koda, ngʼat Nyasaye? Ne ibiro mondo iparna richona kendo mondo ineg wuoda?”
19 And he says to her, “Give your son to me”; and he takes him out of her bosom, and takes him up to the upper chamber where he is abiding, and lays him on his own bed,
Elija nodwoke niya, “Miya wuodi.” Nokawe koa e lwete motingʼe nyaka ei ot mamalo mane odakie mopiele e kitandane.
20 and cries to YHWH and says, “My God YHWH, have You also brought calamity on the widow with whom I am sojourning, to put her son to death?”
Eka noywak ne Jehova Nyasaye niya, “Yaye Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasacha isekelo chandruok bende ni dhako ma chwore otho madakgo ni kimiyo wuode tho?”
21 And he stretches himself out on the boy three times, and calls to YHWH and says, “O YHWH my God, please let the soul of this boy return into his midst”;
Eka noriere kuom wuowino nyadidek moywak ni Jehova Nyasaye niya, “Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasacha yie ngima wuowini oduogne!”
22 and YHWH listens to the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the boy turns back into his midst, and he lives.
Jehova Nyasaye nowinjo ywak Elija mi ngima wuowino noduogone mi nobedo mangima.
23 And Elijah takes the boy, and brings him down from the upper chamber of the house, and gives him to his mother, and Elijah says, “See, your son lives!”
Elija nochungo nyathino motingʼe kogole oko ewi tado motere e ot. Nomiye min-gi mowachone niya ne wuodi ngima!
24 And the woman says to Elijah, “Now [by] this I have known that you [are] a man of God, and the word of YHWH in your mouth [is] truth.”
Eka dhakono nowacho ni Elija niya, “Koro angʼeyo adiera ni in ngʼat Nyasaye kendo ni wach Jehova Nyasaye mawuok e dhogi en adiera.”
