1 Kings 16
1 And a word of YHWH is to Jehu son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying,
La parola del Signore fu rivolta a Ieu figlio di Canàni contro Baasa:
2 “Because that I have raised you up out of the dust, and appoint you leader over My people Israel, and you walk in the way of Jeroboam, and cause My people Israel to sin—to provoke Me to anger with their sins;
«Io ti ho innalzato dalla polvere e ti ho costituito capo del popolo di Israele, ma tu hai imitato la condotta di Geroboamo e hai fatto peccare Israele mio popolo fino a provocarmi con i loro peccati.
3 behold, I am putting away the posterity of Baasha, even the posterity of his house, and have given up your house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat;
Ecco, io spazzerò Baasa e la sua casa e renderò la tua casa come la casa di Geroboamo figlio di Nebàt.
4 the dogs eat him who dies of Baasha in a city, and [the] bird of the heavens eats him who dies of his in a field.”
I cani divoreranno quanti della casa di Baasa moriranno in città; quelli morti in campagna li divoreranno gli uccelli dell'aria».
5 And the rest of the matters of Baasha, and that which he did, and his might, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le altre gesta di Baasa, le sue azioni e le sue prodezze, sono descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Israele.
6 And Baasha lies with his fathers, and is buried in Tirzah, and his son Elah reigns in his stead.
Baasa si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto in Tirza e al suo posto regnò suo figlio Ela.
7 And also by the hand of Jehu son of Hanani the prophet a word of YHWH has been concerning Baasha, and concerning his house, and concerning all the evil that he did in the eyes of YHWH to provoke Him to anger with the work of his hands, to be like the house of Jeroboam, and concerning that for which he struck him.
Attraverso il profeta Ieu figlio di Canàni la parola del Signore fu rivolta a Baasa e alla sua casa. Dio condannò Baasa per tutto il male che aveva commesso agli occhi del Signore, irritandolo con le sue opere, tanto che la sua casa era diventata come quella di Geroboamo, e perché egli aveva sterminato quella famiglia.
8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha has reigned over Israel in Tirzah, two years;
Nell'anno ventiseiesimo di Asa re di Giuda, su Israele in Tirza divenne re Ela figlio di Baasa; regnò due anni.
9 and his servant Zimri conspires against him (head of the half of the chariots) and he [is] in Tirzah drinking—a drunkard in the house of Arza, who [is] over the house in Tirzah.
Contro di lui congiurò un suo ufficiale, Zimri, capo di una metà dei carri. Mentre quegli, in Tirza, beveva e si ubriacava nella casa di Arza, maggiordomo in Tirza,
10 And Zimri comes in and strikes him, and puts him to death, in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigns in his stead;
arrivò Zimri, lo sconfisse, l'uccise nell'anno ventisettesimo di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò al suo posto.
11 and it comes to pass in his reigning, at his sitting on his throne, he has struck the whole house of Baasha; he has not left to him any sitting on the wall, and of his redeemers, and of his friends.
Quando divenne re, appena seduto sul suo trono, distrusse tutta la famiglia di Baasa; non lasciò sopravvivere alcun maschio fra i suoi parenti e amici.
12 And Zimri destroys the whole house of Baasha, according to the word of YHWH that He spoke concerning Baasha, by the hand of Jehu the prophet,
Zimri distrusse tutta la famiglia di Baasa secondo la parola che il Signore aveva rivolta contro Baasa per mezzo del profeta Ieu,
13 concerning all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of his son Elah, that they sinned, and that they caused Israel to sin to provoke YHWH, God of Israel, with their vanities.
a causa di tutti i peccati di Baasa e dei peccati di Ela suo figlio, di quelli commessi da loro e di quelli fatti commettere a Israele, irritando con le loro vanità il Signore Dio di Israele.
14 And the rest of the matters of Elah and all that he did, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le altre gesta di Ela e tutte le sue azioni sono descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Israele.
15 In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri has reigned seven days in Tirzah; and the people are encamping against Gibbethon, which [belonged] to the Philistines;
Nell'anno ventisettesimo di Asa re di Giuda, Zimri divenne re per sette giorni in Tirza, mentre il popolo era accampato contro Ghibbeton, che apparteneva ai Filistei.
16 and the people who are encamping hear, saying, “Zimri has conspired, and also has struck the king”; and all Israel causes Omri head of the host to reign over Israel on that day in the camp.
Quando il popolo accampato colà venne a sapere che Zimri si era ribellato e aveva ucciso il re, tutto Israele in quello stesso giorno, nell'accampamento, proclamò re di Israele Omri, capo dell'esercito.
17 And Omri goes up, and all Israel with him, from Gibbethon, and they lay siege to Tirzah.
Omri e tutto Israele, abbandonata Ghibbeton, andarono a Tirza.
18 And it comes to pass, at Zimri’s seeing that the city has been captured, that he comes into a high place of the house of the king, and burns the house of the king over himself with fire, and he dies,
Quando vide che era stata presa la città, Zimri entrò nella fortezza della reggia, incendiò il palazzo e così morì bruciato.
19 for his sins that he sinned, to do evil in the eyes of YHWH, to walk in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he did, to cause Israel to sin;
Ciò avvenne a causa del peccato che egli aveva commesso compiendo ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, imitando la condotta di Geroboamo e il peccato con cui aveva fatto peccare Israele.
20 and the rest of the matters of Zimri and his conspiracy that he made, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le altre gesta di Zimri e la congiura da lui organizzata sono descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Israele.
21 Then the sons of Israel are parted into halves; half of the people have been after Tibni son of Ginath to cause him to reign, and the [other] half after Omri;
Allora il popolo di Israele si divise in due parti. Una metà parteggiava per Tibni, figlio di Ghinat, con il proposito di proclamarlo re; l'altra metà parteggiava per Omri.
22 and the people that are after Omri are stronger than the people that are after Tibni son of Ginath, and Tibni dies, and Omri reigns.
Il partito di Omri prevalse su quello di Tibni figlio di Ghinat. Tibni morì e Omri divenne re.
23 In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri has reigned over Israel twelve years; he has reigned in Tirzah six years,
Nell'anno trentunesimo di Asa re di Giuda, divenne re di Israele Omri. Regnò dodici anni, di cui sei in Tirza.
24 and he buys the Mount of Samaria from Shemer with two talents of silver, and builds [on] the mountain, and calls the name of the city that he has built by the name of Shemer, lord of the hill—Samaria.
Poi acquistò il monte Someron da Semer per due talenti d'argento. Costruì sul monte e chiamò la città che ivi edificò Samaria dal nome di Semer, proprietario del monte.
25 And Omri does evil in the eyes of YHWH, and does evil above all who [are] before him,
Omri fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, peggio di tutti i suoi predecessori.
26 and walks in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin, to provoke YHWH, God of Israel, with their vanities.
Imitò in tutto la condotta di Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt, e i peccati che quegli aveva fatto commettere a Israele, provocando con le loro vanità a sdegno il Signore, Dio di Israele.
27 And the rest of the matters of Omri that he did and his might that he exercised, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le altre gesta di Omri, tutte le sue azioni e le sue prodezze, sono descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Israele.
28 And Omri lies with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria, and his son Ahab reigns in his stead.
Omri si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto in Samaria. Al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Acab.
29 And Ahab son of Omri has reigned over Israel in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab son of Omri reigns over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years,
Acab figlio di Omri divenne re su Israele nell'anno trentottesimo di Asa re di Giuda. Acab figlio di Omri regnò su Israele in Samaria ventidue anni.
30 and Ahab son of Omri does evil in the eyes of YHWH above all who [are] before him.
Acab figlio di Omri fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, peggio di tutti i suoi predecessori.
31 And it comes to pass, as if it had been trivial—his walking in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat—that he takes a wife, Jezebel daughter of Ethba‘al, king of the Zidonians, and goes and serves Ba‘al, and bows himself to it,
Non gli bastò imitare il peccato di Geroboamo figlio di Nebàt; ma prese anche in moglie Gezabele figlia di Et-Bàal, re di quelli di Sidone, e si mise a servire Baal e a prostrarsi davanti a lui.
32 and raises up an altar for Ba‘al in the house of the Ba‘al, which he built in Samaria;
Eresse un altare a Baal nel tempio di Baal, che egli aveva costruito in Samaria.
33 and Ahab makes the Asherah, and Ahab adds to do so as to provoke YHWH, God of Israel, above all the kings of Israel who have been before him.
Acab eresse anche un palo sacro e compì ancora altre cose irritando il Signore Dio di Israele, più di tutti i re di Israele suoi predecessori.
34 In his days Hiel the Beth-Elite has built Jericho; he laid its foundation with Abiram his firstborn, and he set up its doors with Segub his youngest, according to the word of YHWH that He spoke by the hand of Joshua son of Nun.
Nei suoi giorni Chiel di Betel ricostruì Gerico; gettò le fondamenta sopra Abiram suo primogenito e ne innalzò le porte sopra Segub suo ultimogenito, secondo la parola pronunziata dal Signore per mezzo di Giosuè, figlio di Nun.
