1 Kings 13
1 And behold, a man of God has come from Judah, by the word of YHWH, to Beth-El, and Jeroboam is standing by the altar—to make incense;
Un uomo di Dio, per comando del Signore, si portò da Giuda a Betel, mentre Geroboamo stava sull'altare per offrire incenso.
2 and he calls against the altar, by the word of YHWH, and says, “Altar! Altar! Thus said YHWH: Behold, a son is born to the house of David—Josiah [is] his name—and he has sacrificed on you the priests of the high places who are making incense on you, and bones of man are burned on you.”
Per comando del Signore, quegli gridò verso l'altare: «Altare, altare, così dice il Signore: Ecco nascerà un figlio nella casa di Davide, chiamato Giosia, il quale immolerà su di te i sacerdoti delle alture che hanno offerto incenso su di te, e brucerà su di te ossa umane».
3 And he has given a sign on that day, saying, “This [is] the sign that YHWH has spoken, Behold, the altar is torn, and the ashes that [are] on it [are] poured forth.”
E ne diede una prova, dicendo: «Questa è la prova che il Signore parla: ecco l'altare si spaccherà e si spanderà la cenere che vi è sopra».
4 And it comes to pass, at the king’s hearing the word of the man of God that he calls against the altar in Beth-El, that Jeroboam puts forth his hand from off the altar, saying, “Catch him”; and his hand that he has put forth against him is dried up, and he is not able to bring it back to himself,
Appena sentì il messaggio che l'uomo di Dio aveva proferito contro l'altare di Betel, il re Geroboamo tese la mano dall'altare dicendo: «Afferratelo!». Ma la sua mano, tesa contro di quello, gli si paralizzò e non la potè ritirare a sé.
5 and the altar is torn, and the ashes [are] poured forth from the altar, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of YHWH.
L'altare si spaccò e si sparse la cenere dell'altare secondo il segno dato dall'uomo di Dio per comando del Signore.
6 And the king answers and says to the man of God, “Please appease the face of your God YHWH, and pray for me, and my hand comes back to me”; and the man of God appeases the face of YHWH, and the hand of the king comes back to him, and it is as at the beginning.
Presa la parola, il re disse all'uomo di Dio: «Placa il volto del Signore tuo Dio e prega per me perché mi sia resa la mia mano». L'uomo di Dio placò il volto del Signore e la mano del re tornò come era prima.
7 And the king speaks to the man of God, “Come in with me to the house, and refresh yourself, and I give a gift to you.”
All'uomo di Dio il re disse: «Vieni a casa con me per rinfrancarti; ti darò un regalo».
8 And the man of God says to the king, “If you give to me the half of your house, I do not go in with you, nor do I eat bread, nor do I drink water, in this place;
L'uomo di Dio rispose al re: «Anche se mi dessi metà della tua casa, non verrei con te e non mangerei né berrei nulla in questo luogo,
9 for so He commanded me by the word of YHWH, saying, You do not eat bread nor drink water, nor return in the way that you have come.”
perché mi è stato ordinato per comando del Signore: Non mangiare e non bere nulla e non tornare per la strada percorsa nell'andata».
10 And he goes on in another way, and has not turned back in the way in which he came in to Beth-El.
Se ne andò per un'altra strada e non tornò per quella che aveva percorsa venendo a Betel.
11 And a certain aged prophet is dwelling in Beth-El, and his son comes and recounts to him every deed that the man of God has done today in Beth-El, the words that he has spoken to the king—indeed, they recount them to their father.
Ora viveva a Betel un vecchio profeta, al quale i figli andarono a riferire quanto aveva fatto quel giorno l'uomo di Dio a Betel; essi riferirono al loro padre anche le parole che quegli aveva dette al re.
12 And their father says to them, “Where [is] this—the way he has gone?” And his sons see the way that the man of God who came from Judah has gone.
Il vecchio profeta domandò loro: «Quale via ha preso?». I suoi figli gli indicarono la via presa dall'uomo di Dio, che era venuto da Giuda.
13 And he says to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they saddle the donkey for him, and he rides on it,
Ed egli disse ai suoi figli: «Sellatemi l'asino!». Gli sellarono l'asino ed egli vi montò sopra
14 and goes after the man of God, and finds him sitting under the oak, and says to him, “Are you the man of God who has come from Judah?” And he says, “I [am].”
per inseguire l'uomo di Dio che trovò seduto sotto una quercia. Gli domandò: «Sei tu l'uomo di Dio, venuto da Giuda?». Rispose: «Sono io».
15 And he says to him, “Come with me to the house and eat bread.”
L'altro gli disse: «Vieni a casa con me per mangiare qualcosa».
16 And he says, “I am not able to return with you, and to go in with you, nor do I eat bread or drink water with you in this place,
Egli rispose: «Non posso venire con te né mangiare o bere nulla in questo luogo,
17 for [there is] a word to me by the word of YHWH, You do not eat bread nor drink water there [and] you do not return to go in the way in which you came.”
perché ho ricevuto questo comando per ordine del Signore: Non mangiare e non bere là nulla e non ritornare per la strada percorsa nell'andata».
18 And he says to him, “I [am] also a prophet like you, and a messenger spoke to me by the word of YHWH, saying, Bring him back with you to your house, and he eats bread and drinks water.” He has lied to him.
Quegli disse: «Anch'io sono profeta come te; ora un angelo mi ha detto per ordine di Dio: Fallo tornare con te nella tua casa, perché mangi e beva qualcosa». Egli mentiva a costui,
19 And he turns back with him, and eats bread in his house, and drinks water.
che ritornò con lui, mangiò e bevve nella sua casa.
20 And it comes to pass—they are sitting at the table—and [there] is a word of YHWH to the prophet who brought him back,
Mentre essi stavano seduti a tavola, il Signore parlò al profeta che aveva fatto tornare indietro l'altro
21 and he calls to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Thus said YHWH: Because that you have provoked the mouth of YHWH, and have not kept the command that your God YHWH charged you,
ed egli gridò all'uomo di Dio che era venuto da Giuda: «Così dice il Signore: Poiché ti sei ribellato all'ordine del Signore, non hai ascoltato il comando che ti ha dato il Signore tuo Dio,
22 and turn back and eat bread and drink water in the place of which He said to you, You do not eat bread nor drink water—your carcass does not come into the burying-place of your fathers.”
sei tornato indietro, hai mangiato e bevuto in questo luogo, sebbene ti fosse stato prescritto di non mangiarvi o bervi nulla, il tuo cadavere non entrerà nel sepolcro dei tuoi padri».
23 And it comes to pass, after his eating bread, and after his drinking, that he saddles the donkey for him, for the prophet whom he had brought back,
Dopo che ebbero mangiato e bevuto, l'altro sellò l'asino per il profeta che aveva fatto ritornare
24 and he goes, and a lion finds him in the way, and puts him to death, and his carcass is cast in the way, and the donkey is standing near it, and the lion is standing near the carcass.
e quegli partì. Un leone lo trovò per strada e l'uccise; il suo cadavere rimase steso sulla strada, mentre l'asino se ne stava là vicino e anche il leone stava vicino al cadavere.
25 And behold, men are passing by, and see the carcass cast in the way, and the lion standing near the carcass, and they come and speak [of it] in the city in which the old prophet is dwelling.
Ora alcuni passanti videro il cadavere steso sulla strada e il leone che se ne stava vicino al cadavere. Essi andarono e divulgarono il fatto nella città ove dimorava il vecchio profeta.
26 And the prophet who brought him back out of the way hears and says, “It [is] the man of God who provoked the mouth of YHWH, and YHWH gives him to the lion, and it destroys him, and puts him to death, according to the word of YHWH that he spoke to him.”
Avendolo saputo, il profeta che l'aveva fatto ritornare dalla strada disse: «Quello è un uomo di Dio, che si è ribellato all'ordine del Signore; per questo il Signore l'ha consegnato al leone, che l'ha abbattuto e ucciso secondo la parola comunicatagli dal Signore».
27 And he speaks to his sons saying, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they saddle [it].
Egli aggiunse ai figli: «Sellatemi l'asino». Quando l'asino fu sellato,
28 And he goes and finds his carcass cast in the way, and the donkey and the lion are standing near the carcass—the lion has not eaten the carcass nor destroyed the donkey.
egli andò e trovò il cadavere di lui steso sulla strada con l'asino e il leone accanto. Il leone non aveva mangiato il cadavere né sbranato l'asino.
29 And the prophet takes up the carcass of the man of God, and places it on the donkey, and brings it back, and the old prophet comes to the city to mourn and to bury him,
Il profeta prese il cadavere dell'uomo di Dio, lo sistemò sull'asino e se lo portò nella città dove abitava, per piangerlo e seppellirlo.
30 and he places his carcass in his own grave, and they mourn for him, “Oh, my brother!”
Depose il cadavere nel proprio sepolcro e fece il lamento su di lui: «Ohimè, fratello mio!».
31 And it comes to pass, after his burying him, that he speaks to his sons, saying, “At my death—you have buried me in the burying-place in which the man of God is buried; place my bones near his bones;
Dopo averlo sepolto, disse ai figli: «Alla mia morte mi seppellirete nel sepolcro in cui è stato sepolto l'uomo di Dio; porrete le mie ossa vicino alle sue,
32 for the word certainly comes to pass that he called by the word of YHWH concerning the altar which [is in] Beth-El, and concerning all the houses of the high places that [are] in cities of Samaria.”
poiché certo si avvererà la parola che egli gridò, per ordine del Signore, contro l'altare di Betel e contro tutti i santuari delle alture che sono nelle città di Samaria».
33 After this thing Jeroboam has not turned from his evil way, and turns back, and makes priests of high places from the extremities of the people; he who is desirous—he consecrates his hand, and he is of the priests of the high places.
Dopo questo fatto, Geroboamo non si convertì dalla sua condotta perversa. Egli continuò a prendere qua e là dal popolo i sacerdoti delle alture e a chiunque lo desiderasse dava l'investitura e quegli diveniva sacerdote delle alture.
34 And in this thing is the sin of the house of Jeroboam, even to cut [it] off, and to destroy [it] from off the face of the ground.
Tale condotta costituì, per la casa di Geroboamo, il peccato che ne provocò la distruzione e lo sterminio dalla terra.
