1 Kings 13
1 And behold, a man of God has come from Judah, by the word of YHWH, to Beth-El, and Jeroboam is standing by the altar—to make incense;
Voici, un homme de Dieu sortit de Juda, par la parole de l'Éternel, pour se rendre à Béthel; et Jéroboam se tenait près de l'autel pour brûler des parfums.
2 and he calls against the altar, by the word of YHWH, and says, “Altar! Altar! Thus said YHWH: Behold, a son is born to the house of David—Josiah [is] his name—and he has sacrificed on you the priests of the high places who are making incense on you, and bones of man are burned on you.”
Il cria contre l'autel, par la parole de l'Éternel, et dit: « Autel! Autel! Autel! Yahvé dit: 'Voici qu'il va naître un fils à la maison de David, nommé Josias. Sur toi, il sacrifiera les prêtres des hauts lieux qui brûlent de l'encens, et ils brûleront sur toi des ossements d'hommes.'"
3 And he has given a sign on that day, saying, “This [is] the sign that YHWH has spoken, Behold, the altar is torn, and the ashes that [are] on it [are] poured forth.”
Il donna un signe le même jour, en disant: « Voici le signe que Yahvé a annoncé: Voici que l'autel se fendra et que les cendres qui sont dessus seront répandues. »
4 And it comes to pass, at the king’s hearing the word of the man of God that he calls against the altar in Beth-El, that Jeroboam puts forth his hand from off the altar, saying, “Catch him”; and his hand that he has put forth against him is dried up, and he is not able to bring it back to himself,
Lorsque le roi entendit la parole de l'homme de Dieu, qu'il criait contre l'autel de Béthel, Jéroboam étendit sa main de l'autel, en disant: « Saisissez-le! » Sa main, qu'il avait étendue contre lui, se dessécha, de sorte qu'il ne put la ramener à lui.
5 and the altar is torn, and the ashes [are] poured forth from the altar, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of YHWH.
L'autel fut aussi fendu, et les cendres furent répandues de l'autel, selon le signe que l'homme de Dieu avait donné par la parole de l'Éternel.
6 And the king answers and says to the man of God, “Please appease the face of your God YHWH, and pray for me, and my hand comes back to me”; and the man of God appeases the face of YHWH, and the hand of the king comes back to him, and it is as at the beginning.
Le roi répondit à l'homme de Dieu: « Maintenant, intercède en faveur de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et prie pour moi, afin que ma main me soit rendue. » L'homme de Dieu intercéda auprès de Yahvé, et la main du roi lui fut rendue à nouveau, et redevint comme avant.
7 And the king speaks to the man of God, “Come in with me to the house, and refresh yourself, and I give a gift to you.”
Le roi dit à l'homme de Dieu: « Viens chez moi et rafraîchis-toi, et je te donnerai une récompense. »
8 And the man of God says to the king, “If you give to me the half of your house, I do not go in with you, nor do I eat bread, nor do I drink water, in this place;
L'homme de Dieu dit au roi: « Même si tu me donnais la moitié de ta maison, je n'entrerais pas avec toi, et je ne mangerais pas de pain et ne boirais pas d'eau dans ce lieu;
9 for so He commanded me by the word of YHWH, saying, You do not eat bread nor drink water, nor return in the way that you have come.”
car c'est ce que m'a ordonné la parole de l'Éternel, en disant: Tu ne mangeras pas de pain, tu ne boiras pas d'eau, et tu ne reviendras pas par le chemin par lequel tu es venu. »
10 And he goes on in another way, and has not turned back in the way in which he came in to Beth-El.
Il prit donc un autre chemin, et ne revint pas par le chemin par lequel il était venu à Béthel.
11 And a certain aged prophet is dwelling in Beth-El, and his son comes and recounts to him every deed that the man of God has done today in Beth-El, the words that he has spoken to the king—indeed, they recount them to their father.
Or, un vieux prophète habitait à Béthel, et l'un de ses fils vint lui raconter toutes les œuvres que l'homme de Dieu avait faites ce jour-là à Béthel. Ils racontèrent aussi à leur père les paroles qu'il avait dites au roi.
12 And their father says to them, “Where [is] this—the way he has gone?” And his sons see the way that the man of God who came from Judah has gone.
Leur père leur dit: « Par où est-il allé? » Or ses fils avaient vu par où allait l'homme de Dieu, qui venait de Juda.
13 And he says to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they saddle the donkey for him, and he rides on it,
Il dit à ses fils: « Sellez-moi l'âne. » Ils sellèrent donc l'âne pour lui, et il monta dessus.
14 and goes after the man of God, and finds him sitting under the oak, and says to him, “Are you the man of God who has come from Judah?” And he says, “I [am].”
Il poursuivit l'homme de Dieu, et le trouva assis sous un chêne. Il lui dit: « Es-tu l'homme de Dieu qui est venu de Juda? » Il a dit: « Je le suis. »
15 And he says to him, “Come with me to the house and eat bread.”
Et il lui dit: « Viens à la maison avec moi et mange du pain. »
16 And he says, “I am not able to return with you, and to go in with you, nor do I eat bread or drink water with you in this place,
Il dit: « Je ne retournerai pas avec vous et je n'entrerai pas avec vous. Je ne mangerai pas de pain et ne boirai pas d'eau avec vous dans ce lieu.
17 for [there is] a word to me by the word of YHWH, You do not eat bread nor drink water there [and] you do not return to go in the way in which you came.”
Car il m'a été dit par la parole de l'Éternel: Tu ne mangeras pas de pain et tu ne boiras pas d'eau dans ce lieu, et tu ne te retourneras pas pour prendre le chemin par lequel tu es venu. »
18 And he says to him, “I [am] also a prophet like you, and a messenger spoke to me by the word of YHWH, saying, Bring him back with you to your house, and he eats bread and drinks water.” He has lied to him.
Il lui dit: « Moi aussi, je suis prophète comme toi, et un ange m'a parlé par la parole de Yahvé, en disant: « Ramène-le chez toi, dans ta maison, pour qu'il mange du pain et boive de l'eau. » Il lui a menti.
19 And he turns back with him, and eats bread in his house, and drinks water.
Il s'en retourna donc avec lui, mangea du pain dans sa maison et but de l'eau.
20 And it comes to pass—they are sitting at the table—and [there] is a word of YHWH to the prophet who brought him back,
Comme ils étaient assis à table, la parole de Yahvé vint au prophète qui l'avait ramené
21 and he calls to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Thus said YHWH: Because that you have provoked the mouth of YHWH, and have not kept the command that your God YHWH charged you,
et il cria à l'homme de Dieu venu de Juda: « Yahvé dit: 'Parce que tu as désobéi à la parole de Yahvé et que tu n'as pas observé le commandement que Yahvé ton Dieu t'avait prescrit,
22 and turn back and eat bread and drink water in the place of which He said to you, You do not eat bread nor drink water—your carcass does not come into the burying-place of your fathers.”
mais que tu es revenu, que tu as mangé du pain et bu de l'eau dans le lieu dont il t'avait dit: « Ne mange pas de pain et ne bois pas d'eau », ton corps ne viendra pas au tombeau de tes pères.'"
23 And it comes to pass, after his eating bread, and after his drinking, that he saddles the donkey for him, for the prophet whom he had brought back,
Après avoir mangé du pain et après avoir bu, il sella l'âne pour le prophète qu'il avait ramené.
24 and he goes, and a lion finds him in the way, and puts him to death, and his carcass is cast in the way, and the donkey is standing near it, and the lion is standing near the carcass.
Comme il était parti, un lion le rencontra sur le chemin et le tua. Son corps fut jeté sur le chemin, et l'âne se tenait près de lui. Le lion aussi se tenait près du corps.
25 And behold, men are passing by, and see the carcass cast in the way, and the lion standing near the carcass, and they come and speak [of it] in the city in which the old prophet is dwelling.
Voici que des gens passaient par là et voyaient le corps jeté sur le chemin et le lion qui se tenait près du corps; ils vinrent le raconter dans la ville où habitait le vieux prophète.
26 And the prophet who brought him back out of the way hears and says, “It [is] the man of God who provoked the mouth of YHWH, and YHWH gives him to the lion, and it destroys him, and puts him to death, according to the word of YHWH that he spoke to him.”
Lorsque le prophète qui l'avait ramené du chemin l'apprit, il dit: « C'est l'homme de Dieu qui a désobéi à la parole de l'Éternel. C'est pourquoi l'Éternel l'a livré au lion, qui l'a déchiqueté et l'a tué, selon la parole que l'Éternel lui avait adressée. »
27 And he speaks to his sons saying, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they saddle [it].
Il dit à ses fils: « Sellez-moi l'âne », et ils le sellèrent.
28 And he goes and finds his carcass cast in the way, and the donkey and the lion are standing near the carcass—the lion has not eaten the carcass nor destroyed the donkey.
Il s'en alla et trouva son corps jeté sur le chemin, et l'âne et le lion debout près du corps. Le lion n'avait pas mangé le corps ni malmené l'âne.
29 And the prophet takes up the carcass of the man of God, and places it on the donkey, and brings it back, and the old prophet comes to the city to mourn and to bury him,
Le prophète prit le corps de l'homme de Dieu, le mit sur l'âne et le ramena. Il se rendit dans la ville du vieux prophète pour le pleurer et l'enterrer.
30 and he places his carcass in his own grave, and they mourn for him, “Oh, my brother!”
Il mit son corps dans son propre sépulcre, et l'on pleura sur lui en disant: « Hélas, mon frère! »
31 And it comes to pass, after his burying him, that he speaks to his sons, saying, “At my death—you have buried me in the burying-place in which the man of God is buried; place my bones near his bones;
Après l'avoir enterré, il parla à ses fils en disant: « Quand je serai mort, enterrez-moi dans le tombeau où est enterré l'homme de Dieu. Mettez mes os à côté de ses os.
32 for the word certainly comes to pass that he called by the word of YHWH concerning the altar which [is in] Beth-El, and concerning all the houses of the high places that [are] in cities of Samaria.”
Car ce qu'il a crié par la parole de Yahvé contre l'autel de Béthel et contre toutes les maisons des hauts lieux qui sont dans les villes de Samarie, arrivera certainement. »
33 After this thing Jeroboam has not turned from his evil way, and turns back, and makes priests of high places from the extremities of the people; he who is desirous—he consecrates his hand, and he is of the priests of the high places.
Après cela, Jéroboam ne revint pas de sa mauvaise voie, mais il établit de nouveau des prêtres des hauts lieux parmi tout le peuple. Il consacrait celui qui le voulait, afin qu'il y ait des prêtres des hauts lieux.
34 And in this thing is the sin of the house of Jeroboam, even to cut [it] off, and to destroy [it] from off the face of the ground.
Cette chose devint un péché pour la maison de Jéroboam, au point de l'exterminer et de la faire disparaître de la surface de la terre.
