1 Kings 10
1 And the queen of Sheba is hearing of the fame of Solomon concerning the Name of YHWH, and comes to try him with enigmas,
Mais la reine de Saba aussi, ayant appris la renommée de Salomon au nom du Seigneur, vint l’éprouver par des énigmes.
2 and she comes to Jerusalem, with a very great company, camels carrying spices, and very much gold, and precious stone, and she comes to Solomon, and speaks to him all that has been with her heart.
Et étant entrée dans Jérusalem avec une suite nombreuse, des richesses, des chameaux qui portaient des aromates, de l’or en quantité infinie et des pierres précieuses, elle vint vers le roi Salomon, et lui dit tout ce qu’elle avait en son cœur.
3 And Solomon declares to her all her matters—there has not been a thing hid from the king that he has not declared to her.
Et Salomon l’instruisit sur toutes les paroles qu’elle lui avait proposées, et il n’y a point de mot qui put être caché au roi, et sur lequel il ne lui répondît.
4 And the queen of Sheba sees all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he built,
Or la reine de Saba, voyant toute la sagesse de Salomon, la maison qu’il avait bâtie,
5 and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing, and his butlers, and his burnt-offering that he causes to ascend in the house of YHWH, and there has not been anymore spirit in her.
Les mets de sa table, les logements de ses serviteurs, les divers ordres de ceux qui le servaient et leurs vêtements, ses échansons, et les holocaustes qu’il offrait dans la maison du Seigneur, n’avait plus son esprit;
6 And she says to the king, “The word that I heard in my land has been true concerning your matters and your wisdom;
Et elle dit au roi: Il est véritable le récit que j’ai ouï, dans mon pays,
7 and I gave no credence to the words until I have come, and my eyes see, and behold, not [even] half was declared to me; you have added wisdom and goodness to the report that I heard.
De vos entretiens et de votre sagesse; et je n’ai pas cru ceux qui me parlaient, jusqu’à ce que je sois venue moi-même et que j’aie vu de mes yeux; et j’ai reconnu que la moitié ne m’avait pas été annoncée. Votre sagesse et vos œuvres sont plus grandes que la rumeur que j’ai entendue.
8 O the blessedness of your men, O the blessedness of your servants—these—who are standing before you continually, who are hearing your wisdom!
Heureux vos sujets, et heureux vos serviteurs, qui sont toujours devant vous et qui écoutent votre sagesse!
9 Your God YHWH is blessed, who delighted in you, to put you on the throne of Israel; in YHWH’s loving Israel for all time He sets you for king, to do judgment and righteousness.”
Béni soit le Seigneur votre Dieu, à qui vous avez plu, et qui vous a placé sur le trône d’Israël, parce que le Seigneur a aimé Israël pour jamais, et qu’il vous a établi roi pour rendre les jugements et la justice.
10 And she gives to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, and very many spices, and precious stone; there never again came in abundance like that spice that the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
La reine de Saba donna donc au roi cent vingt talents d’or, des parfums en très grande quantité, et des pierres précieuses: on n’apporta jamais depuis à Jérusalem des parfums aussi nombreux que ceux que donna la reine de Saba au roi Salomon.
11 And also, the navy of Hiram that bore gold from Ophir, brought in very much almug-trees and precious stone from Ophir;
(Mais aussi la flotte d’Hiram, qui portait de l’or d’Ophir, apporta d’Ophir des bois odorants en très grande quantité et des pierres précieuses.
12 and the king makes the almug-trees a support for the house of YHWH, and for the house of the king, and harps and psalteries for singers; there have not come such almug-trees, nor have there been seen [such] to this day.
Et le roi fit de ces bois odorants les balustres de la maison du Seigneur et de la maison du roi des harpes et des lyres pour les chantres: on n’a point apporté et on n’a point vu de tels bois odorants jusqu’au présent jour.)
13 And King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, apart from that which he gave to her as a memorial of King Solomon, and she turns and goes to her land, she and her servants.
Or le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Saba tout ce qu’elle voulut et ce qu’elle lui demanda, outre ce qu’il lui offrit de lui-même avec une munificence royale. Et la reine s’en retourna et s’en alla en son pays avec ses serviteurs.
14 And the weight of the gold that has come to Solomon in one year is six hundred sixty-six talents of gold,
Or, le poids de l’or qu’on apportait à Salomon chaque année était de six cent soixante-six talents d’or,
15 apart from [that of] the tourists, and of the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the land.
Sans ce que lui apportaient les hommes préposés aux tributs, les marchands, tous ceux qui vendaient des choses recherchées, tous les rois d’Arabie et tous les chefs du pays.
16 And King Solomon makes two hundred bucklers of alloyed gold—six hundred [shekels] of gold go up on the one buckler;
Le roi Salomon fit aussi deux cents grands boucliers d’un or très pur: il donna pour chaque bouclier six cents sicles d’or.
17 and three hundred shields of alloyed gold—three pounds of gold go up on the one shield; and the king puts them [in] the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
Et il fit trois cents petits boucliers d’un or éprouvé; trois cents mines d’or revêtaient chaque bouclier; et le roi les plaça dans la maison du bois du Liban.
18 And the king makes a great throne of ivory, and overlays it with refined gold;
Le roi Salomon fit aussi un grand trône d’ivoire, et il le revêtit d’un or très jaune.
19 the throne has six steps, and a round top [is] to the throne behind it, and hands [are] on this [side] and on that, to the place of the sitting, and two lions are standing near the hands,
Ce trône avait six degrés: le haut était arrondi par derrière, et il y avait deux mains, l’une d’un côté et l’autre de l’autre, qui tenaient le siège, et deux lions auprès de chaque main;
20 and twelve lions are standing there on the six steps, on this [side] and on that; it has not been made so for any kingdom.
Et douze lionceaux étaient sur les dix degrés, d’un côté et de l’autre: il n’a pas été fait un tel ouvrage dans aucun royaume.
21 And all the drinking vessels of King Solomon [are] of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon [are] of refined gold—there are none of silver; it was not reckoned in the days of Solomon for anything,
Mais aussi tous les vases où le roi Salomon buvait étaient d’or, et toute la vaisselle de la maison du bois du Liban était d’un or très pur. L’argent n’était réputé d’aucun prix aux jours de Salomon,
22 for the king has a navy of Tarshish at sea with a navy of Hiram; once in three years the navy of Tarshish comes, carrying gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks [[or monkeys]].
Parce que la flotte du roi avec celle du roi Hiram, allait une fois tous les trois ans, en Tharsis, rapportant de là de l’or, de l’argent, des dents d’éléphant, des singes et des paons.
23 And King Solomon is greater than any of the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom,
Le roi Salomon surpassa donc tous les rois du monde en richesses et en sagesse.
24 and all the earth is seeking the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom that God has put into his heart,
Et toute la terre désirait voir la face de Salomon, pour écouter sa sagesse que Dieu avait mise en son cœur.
25 and they are each bringing his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, the matter of a year in a year.
Et chacun lui envoyait des présents, des vases d’argent et d’or, des vêtements, des armes de guerre, des parfums, des chevaux et des mulets, à chaque année.
26 And Solomon gathers chariots, and horsemen, and he has one thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he places them in the cities of the chariot, and with the king in Jerusalem.
Et Salomon rassembla un grand nombre de chars et de cavaliers, et on lui disposa quatorze cents chars et douze mille cavaliers, et il les plaça dans les villes fortifiées, et près du roi dans Jérusalem.
27 And the king makes the silver in Jerusalem as stones, and he has made the cedars as the sycamores that [are] in the low country, for abundance.
Et il fit qu’il y avait à Jérusalem une aussi grande abondance d’argent que de pierres, et il procura une multitude de cèdres, semblable à celle des sycomores, qui naissent dans les plaines.
28 And the outgoing of the horses that King Solomon has [is] from Egypt, and from Keveh; merchants of the king take from Keveh at a price;
Et l’on amenait des chevaux pour Salomon, de l’Egypte et de Coa; car les marchands du roi les achetaient à Coa, et les lui amenaient pour un prix convenu.
29 and a chariot comes up and comes out of Egypt for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for one hundred and fifty, and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Aram; they bring out by their hand.
Or, il sortait un attelage de quatre chevaux d’Egypte pour six cents sicles d’argent, et un cheval pour cent cinquante: et c’est de cette manière que tous les rois des Héthéens et de Syrie lui vendaient des chevaux.
