1 John 3
1 See what love the Father has given to us, that we may be called children of God; because of this the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
¡Mirad qué gran amor nos ha dado el Padre, para que seamos llamados hijos de Dios! Por eso el mundo no nos conoce, porque no lo conoció a él.
2 Beloved, now, we are children of God, and it was not yet revealed what we will be. We have known that if He may have appeared, we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He is;
Amados, ahora somos hijos de Dios. Todavía no se ha revelado lo que seremos; pero sabemos que, cuando se revele, seremos como él, porque lo veremos tal como es.
3 and everyone who is having this hope on Him, purifies himself, even as He is pure.
Todo el que tiene esta esperanza puesta en él se purifica, así como él es puro.
4 Everyone who is doing sin, he also does lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness,
Todo el que peca comete también anarquía. El pecado es anarquía.
5 and you have known that He appeared that He may take away our sins, and sin is not in Him;
Sabéis que él se reveló para quitar nuestros pecados, y no hay pecado en él.
6 everyone who is remaining in Him does not sin; everyone who is sinning, has not seen Him, nor known Him.
Quien permanece en él no peca. Quien peca no lo ha visto y no lo conoce.
7 Little children, let no one lead you astray; he who is doing righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous,
Hijitos, que nadie os extravíe. El que hace la justicia es justo, como él mismo.
8 he who is doing sin, he is of the Devil, because the Devil sins from the beginning; for this [reason] the Son of God appeared, that He may undo the works of the Devil;
El que peca es del diablo, porque el diablo peca desde el principio. Para esto se ha manifestado el Hijo de Dios: para que destruya las obras del diablo.
9 everyone who has been begotten of God, he does not sin, because His seed remains in him, and he is not able to sin, because he has been begotten of God.
El que ha nacido de Dios no peca, porque su semilla permanece en él, y no puede pecar, porque ha nacido de Dios.
10 In this are revealed the children of God, and the children of the Devil; everyone who is not doing righteousness, is not of God, and he who is not loving his brother,
En esto se revelan los hijos de Dios y los hijos del diablo. El que no hace la justicia no es de Dios, ni tampoco el que no ama a su hermano.
11 because this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we may love one another,
Porque este es el mensaje que habéis oído desde el principio: que nos amemos unos a otros,
12 not as Cain—he was of the evil one, and he slew his brother. And for [what] reason did he slay him? Because his works were evil, and those of his brother [were] righteous.
a diferencia de Caín, que era del maligno y mató a su hermano. ¿Por qué lo mató? Porque sus obras eran malas, y las de su hermano, justas.
13 Do not wonder, my brothers, if the world hates you;
No os sorprendáis, hermanos míos, si el mundo os odia.
14 we have known that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers; he who is not loving [his] brother remains in death.
Sabemos que hemos pasado de la muerte a la vida, porque amamos a los hermanos. El que no ama a su hermano permanece en la muerte.
15 Everyone who is hating his brother is a manslayer, and you have known that no manslayer has continuous life remaining in him; (aiōnios g166)
El que odia a su hermano es un asesino, y sabéis que a ningún asesino le queda la vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
16 in this we have known love, because He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brothers;
En esto conocemos el amor, porque él dio su vida por nosotros. Y nosotros debemos dar la vida por los hermanos.
17 and whoever may have the goods of the world, and may view his brother having need, and may shut up his yearnings from him—how does the love of God remain in him?
Pero quien tiene los bienes del mundo y ve a su hermano necesitado, y luego cierra su corazón de compasión contra él, ¿cómo permanece en él el amor de Dios?
18 My little children, may we not love in word nor in tongue, but in work and in truth!
Hijitos míos, no amemos sólo de palabra, ni sólo con la lengua, sino con hechos y con verdad.
19 And in this we know that we are of the truth, and before Him we will assure our hearts,
Y en esto sabemos que somos de la verdad y persuadimos a nuestros corazones ante él,
20 because if our heart may condemn—because greater is God than our heart, and He knows all things.
porque si nuestro corazón nos condena, Dios es mayor que nuestro corazón, y conoce todas las cosas.
21 Beloved, if our heart may not condemn us, we have boldness toward God,
Amados, si nuestro corazón no nos condena, tenemos audacia para con Dios;
22 and whatever we may ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commands, and we do the things pleasing before Him,
de modo que todo lo que pedimos, lo recibimos de él, porque guardamos sus mandamientos y hacemos las cosas que son agradables a sus ojos.
23 and this is His command, that we may believe in the Name of His Son Jesus Christ, and may love one another, even as He gave command to us,
Este es su mandamiento: que creamos en el nombre de su Hijo Jesucristo y nos amemos los unos a los otros, como él lo ha mandado.
24 and he who is keeping His commands, remains in Him, and He in him; and in this we know that He remains in us, from the Spirit that He gave us.
El que guarda sus mandamientos permanece en él, y él en él. En esto sabemos que él permanece en nosotros, por el Espíritu que nos ha dado.
