< 1 Corinthians 7 >
1 And concerning the things of which you wrote to me: [it is] good for a man not to touch a woman,
Na rĩrĩ, ha ũhoro wa maũndũ marĩa mwanyandĩkĩire marũa nĩ ũndũ wamo, ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ: Nĩ wega mũndũ mũrũme kwaga kũhikania.
2 and because of the whoredom let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her proper husband;
3 to the wife let the husband render the due benevolence, and in like manner also the wife to the husband;
Mũthuuri nĩagĩrĩirwo nĩ kũhingagĩria mũtumia wake bata wake wa kĩhiko, o nake mũtumia ahingagĩrie mũthuuriwe bata wake.
4 the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband; and in like manner also, the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife.
Mũtumia ndangĩĩathĩra mwĩrĩ wake mwene, tondũ nĩ wake na mũthuuriwe. Ũguo no taguo mũthuuri atangĩĩathĩra mwĩrĩ wake mwene, tondũ nĩ wake na mũtumia wake.
5 Do not defraud one another, except by consent for a time, that you may be free for fasting and prayer, and again may come together, that Satan may not tempt you because of your self-indulgence;
Tigagai kũimana, o tiga rĩrĩa mũngĩkorwo mũiguanĩire, naguo gũkorwo nĩ kwa ihinda, nĩgeetha mũgĩĩage na ihinda rĩa kũhooya. Thuutha ũcio no mũcooke hamwe rĩngĩ, nĩguo Shaitani ndakamũgerie tondũ wanyu kũremwo kwĩgirĩrĩria.
6 and this I say by way of concurrence—not of command,
Ũhoro ũcio ndawaaria taarĩ rũũtha ngũheana, no ti gwathana ngwathana.
7 for I wish all men to be even as I myself [am]; but each has his own gift of God, one indeed thus and one thus.
No nyende andũ othe mahaane ta ũrĩa niĩ ndariĩ. No o mũndũ aheetwo kĩheo gĩake mwene kuuma kũrĩ Ngai; mũndũ ũmwe aheetwo kĩheo gĩkĩ, na ũrĩa ũngĩ akaheo kĩrĩa kĩngĩ.
8 And I say to the unmarried and to the widows: it is good for them if they may remain even as I [am];
Na rĩrĩ, nĩ ũndũ wa andũ arĩa matahikanĩtie na atumia a ndigwa, nguuga ũũ: Nĩ wega maikare o ũguo matahikanĩtie, o ta ũrĩa niĩ ndariĩ.
9 and if they do not have continence—let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn;
No angĩkorwo matingĩhota kwĩgirĩrĩria-rĩ, nĩmahike na mahikanie, tondũ nĩ kaba kũhikania gũkĩra gũikara makĩhĩĩahĩaga.
10 and to the married I announce—not I, but the LORD—do not let a wife separate from a husband:
Kũrĩ andũ arĩa mahikĩte na makahikania-rĩ, ngwathana ũũ, no ti niĩ, nĩ Mwathani ũgwathana: Mũtumia ndakanatigane na mũthuuriwe.
11 but, and if she may separate, let her remain unmarried, or let her be reconciled to the husband, and do not let a husband send a wife away.
No aangĩka ũguo-rĩ, nĩagĩikare atarĩ mũhiku, kana akorwo ti ũguo, acookerere mũthuuriwe. Ningĩ mũthuuri ndakanaingate mũtumia wake.
12 And to the rest I speak—not the LORD—if any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she is pleased to dwell with him, do not let him send her away;
Nĩ ũndũ wa acio angĩ nguuga ũũ, no nĩ niĩ ndĩroiga, ti Mwathani: Angĩkorwo mũrũ wa Ithe witũ arĩ na mũtumia ũtetĩkĩtie, na mũtumia ũcio etĩkĩre matũũranie-rĩ, nĩatige kũmũingata.
13 and a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he is pleased to dwell with her, do not let her send him away;
Nake mũtumia angĩkorwo arĩ na mũthuuri ũtetĩkĩtie, na mũthuuri ũcio etĩkĩre matũũranie-rĩ, nĩatige kũmũingata.
14 for the unbelieving husband has been sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified in the husband; otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.
Nĩgũkorwo mũthuuri ũrĩa ũtetĩkĩtie nĩatheretio nĩ ũndũ wa mũtumia wake, nake mũtumia ũrĩa ũtarĩ mwĩtĩkia nĩatheretio nĩ ũndũ wa mũthuuri wake mwĩtĩkia. Kũngĩaga gũtuĩka ũguo-rĩ, ciana cianyu no ituĩke ti theru, no ũrĩa kũrĩ rĩu nĩ atĩ nĩ theru.
15 And if the unbelieving separates himself—let him separate himself: the brother or the sister is not under servitude in such [cases], and in peace has God called us;
No rĩrĩ, mũndũ ũcio ũtetĩkĩtie angĩthiĩ-rĩ, nĩarekwo athiĩ. Nĩgũkorwo mũndũ mũrũme, kana mũndũ-wa-nja ũrĩa wĩtĩkĩtie ti muohe nĩ ũhoro ta ũcio; Ngai atwĩtĩte tũtũũranagie na thayũ.
16 for what, have you known, O wife, whether you will save the husband? Or what, have you known, O husband, whether you will save the wife?
Wee mũtumia-rĩ, ũũĩ atĩa kana nĩwe ũkaahonokia mũthuuri waku? O na wee mũthuuri-rĩ, ũũĩ atĩa kana nĩwe ũkaahonokia mũtumia waku?
17 If not, as God distributed to each, as the LORD has called each—so let him walk; and thus I direct in all the assemblies:
No rĩrĩ, mũndũ o mũndũ nĩaikare mũtũũrĩre ũrĩa Mwathani aamũgaĩire, o ũrĩa Ngai aamwĩtĩire. Ũyũ nĩguo watho ũrĩa ngwatha makanitha mothe.
18 being circumcised—was anyone called? Do not let him become uncircumcised; in uncircumcision was anyone called? Do not let him be circumcised;
Mũndũ angĩkorwo eetirwo arĩ mũruu-rĩ, nĩatige gũikara ta atarĩ mũruu. Mũndũ ũrĩa ũtaarĩ mũruu rĩrĩa eetirwo nĩatige kũrua.
19 the circumcision is nothing, and the uncircumcision is nothing—but a keeping of the commands of God.
Kũrua gũtirĩ bata; o na kwaga kũrua gũtirĩ bata. Ũndũ ũrĩa ũrĩ bata nĩ kũmenyerera maathani ma Ngai.
20 Each in the calling in which he was called—in this let him remain;
O mũndũ nĩaikarage o ũrĩa aatariĩ rĩrĩa Ngai aamwĩtire.
21 a servant—were you called? Do not be anxious; but if also you are able to become free—use [it] rather;
Wee warĩ ngombo rĩrĩa wetirwo? Ũndũ ũcio ndũgagũtange, no korwo wahota kuona njĩra ya kuuma ũkombo-inĩ-rĩ, gerera yo.
22 for he who [is] in the LORD—having been called a servant—is the LORD’s freedman: in like manner also he the freeman, having been called, is servant of Christ:
Nĩgũkorwo mũndũ ũrĩa warĩ ngombo rĩrĩa Mwathani aamwĩtire-rĩ, ũcio nĩ mũndũ wa Mwathani ũtarĩ ngombo; ningĩ no taguo, ũrĩa warĩ mũndũ muohore rĩrĩa Mwathani aamwĩtire-rĩ, ũcio nĩ ngombo ya Kristũ.
23 you were bought with a price, do not become servants of men;
Inyuĩ mwagũrirwo goro; mũtigatuĩke ngombo cia andũ.
24 each, in that in which he was called, brothers, in this let him remain with God.
Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, o ũndũ ũrĩa mũndũ eehokeirwo nĩ Ngai-rĩ, nĩaikarage o ũguo ũndũ ũcio Ngai aamwĩtĩire.
25 And concerning the virgins, I do not have a command of the LORD; and I give judgment as having obtained kindness from the LORD to be faithful.
Rĩu-rĩ, ũhoro wĩgiĩ airĩtu nĩ ũyũ: Ndirĩ na watho uumĩte kũrĩ Mwathani, no nĩngũheana itua rĩakwa ta mũndũ mwĩhokeku nĩ ũndũ wa kũiguĩrwo tha nĩ Mwathani.
26 I suppose, therefore, this to be good because of the present necessity, that [it is] good for a man that the matter be thus:
Nĩ ũndũ wa mathĩĩna ma mahinda maya-rĩ, nguona arĩ wega mũikarage o ũrĩa mũndũ atariĩ.
27 Have you been bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed; have you been loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife.
Wee nĩũhikanĩtie? Ndũkaingate mũtumia waku. Wee nawe hihi ndũhikanĩtie? Tiga kũhikania.
28 But, and if you may marry, you did not sin; and if the virgin may marry, she did not sin; and such will have tribulation in the flesh: and I spare you.
No ũngĩhikania-rĩ, wee ndwĩhĩtie; o na mũirĩtu angĩhika-rĩ, o nake ndehĩtie. No andũ arĩa marahika kana makahikania-rĩ, nĩmarĩonaga mathĩĩna maingĩ mũtũũrĩre-inĩ ũyũ, na nĩmo ndĩrenda kũmũrigĩrĩria.
29 And this I say, brothers, the time from now on is having been shortened—that both those having wives may be as not having;
Ũndũ ũrĩa ndĩrenda kuuga, ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, nĩ atĩ ihinda nĩ inini. Kuuma rĩu andũ arĩa marĩ na atumia nĩ kwagĩrĩire maikarage ta matarĩ nao;
30 and those weeping, as not weeping; and those rejoicing, as not rejoicing; and those buying, as not possessing;
arĩa maracakaya nĩmaikarage ta mataracakaya; nao arĩa makenete nĩmaikarage ta matakenete; o na arĩa mekũgũra indo, nĩmaikarage ta matarĩ kĩndũ marĩ.
31 and those using this world, as not using [it] up; for the [present] form of this world is passing away.
nao arĩa mahũthagĩra indo cia thĩ ĩno, nĩmaikarage ta matohanĩtio nacio. Nĩgũkorwo ũrĩa thĩ ĩno ĩhaana rĩu-rĩ, nĩgũthira ĩrathira.
32 And I wish you to be without anxiety; the unmarried is anxious for the things of the LORD, how he will please the LORD;
Niĩ ingĩenda inyuĩ mũikarage mũtegwĩtanga. Mũndũ ũrĩa ũtahikanĩtie etangaga na maũndũ ma Mwathani, na eciiragia o ũrĩa angĩkenia Mwathani.
33 and the married is anxious for the things of the world, how he will please the wife.
No mũndũ ũrĩa ũhikanĩtie etangaga na maũndũ ma gũkũ thĩ, na eciiragia o ũrĩa angĩkenia mũtumia wake,
34 The wife and the virgin have been distinguished: the unmarried is anxious for the things of the LORD, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit, and the married is anxious for the things of the world, how she will please the husband.
35 And this I say for your own profit: not that I may cast a noose on you, but for the seemliness and devotedness to the LORD, undistractedly,
Ndĩramwarĩria maũndũ maya nĩgeetha mũgunĩke, ti atĩ nĩguo ndĩmũrigĩrĩrie, no nĩgeetha mũikarage na mĩthiĩre ĩrĩa yagĩrĩire, mwĩheanĩte biũ harĩ Mwathani mũtekũguucĩrĩrio nĩ maũndũ mangĩ.
36 and if anyone thinks [it] to be unseemly to his virgin, if she may be beyond the bloom of age, and it ought to be so, what he wills let him do; he does not sin—let him marry.
Mũndũ o wothe angĩona atĩ nĩarahĩtĩria mũirĩtu ũrĩa orĩtie, nake mũirĩtu ũcio akorwo matukũ make ma ũirĩtu wake nĩmarahĩtũka-rĩ, mũndũ ũcio angĩigua nĩagĩrĩirwo nĩ kũhikania-rĩ, nĩeke o ũguo ekwenda. Ti kwĩhia ekwĩhia. Nĩmagĩrĩirwo mahikanie.
37 And he does well who has stood steadfast in the heart—not having necessity—and has authority over his own will, and he has determined this in his heart—to keep his own virgin;
No rĩrĩ, ũrĩa ũtuĩte na ngoro yake atekũringĩrĩrio, no nĩwe mwene wĩyendeire, na agatua itua atĩ ndekũhikia mũirĩtu ũcio-rĩ, mũndũ ũcio o nake nĩekĩte ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire.
38 so that both he who is giving in marriage does well, and he who is not giving in marriage does better.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, mũndũ ũrĩa ũhikagia mũirĩtu ũrĩa orĩtie nĩekaga ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire, no ũrĩa ũngĩaga kũmũhikia nĩekaga wega makĩria.
39 A wife has been bound by law [for] as long [a] time as her husband may live, and if her husband may sleep, she is free to be married to whom she will—only in the LORD;
Mũtumia nĩohanĩtio na mũthuuriwe rĩrĩa rĩothe mũthuuriwe arĩ muoyo. No mũthuuriwe angĩkua, nĩmuohore na no ahikĩre mũndũ o ũrĩa angĩenda, no mũndũ ũcio no nginya akorwo nĩetĩkĩtie Mwathani.
40 and she is happier if she may so remain—according to my judgment; and I think I also have the Spirit of God.
No itua rĩakwa nĩ atĩrĩ, mũtumia ũcio angĩaga kũhika rĩngĩ, no akorwo arĩ na gĩkeno makĩria. Na ngwĩciiria atĩ niĩ o na niĩ ndĩ na Roho wa Ngai.
