< 1 Corinthians 6 >
1 Dare anyone of you, having a matter with the other, go to be judged before the unrighteous, and not before the holy ones?
Dare any of you, having a matter of complaint against another, try it before the unjust, and not before the saints?
2 Have you not known that the holy ones will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy of the smaller judgments?
Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy of judging the smallest controversies?
3 Have you not known that we will judge messengers? Why not then the things of life?
Know ye not that we shall judge angels? what! and not worthy of judging the affairs of this life?
4 Of the things of life, indeed, then, if you may have judgment, those despised in the Assembly—these you cause to sit;
Therefore if ye have controversies about the things of this life, do ye set them to judge, who are despised by the church?
5 I speak to your shame: so there is not among you one wise man, not even one, who will be able to discern in the midst of his brothers!
I speak it to your shame. What! is there not one wise man among you, that is able to judge between his bretheren?
6 But brother with brother goes to be judged, and this before unbelievers!
But one brother goeth to law with another, and this before infidels.
7 Already, indeed, then, there is altogether a fault among you, that you have judgments with one another; why do you not rather suffer injustice? Why not be defrauded?
Now there is certainly a fault among you, that ye have law-suits with one another: why do ye not rather endure wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
8 But you do injustice, and you defraud, and these—brothers!
But ye do wrong and defraud, and that even your brethren.
9 Have you not known that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites,
What! know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor sodomites, nor thieves,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God.
nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor rapacious persons, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And certain of you were these! But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were declared righteous, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God.
12 All things are lawful to me, but all things are not profitable; all things are lawful to me, but I will not be under authority by any;
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be under the power of any:
13 the meats [are] for the belly, and the belly for the meats. And God will make useless both this and these; and the body [is] not for whoredom, but for the LORD, and the LORD for the body;
meats are for the belly, and the belly for meats, but God will destroy both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14 and God raised both the LORD, and will raise us up through His power.
And as God hath raised up the Lord, so will He raise up us by his power.
15 Have you not known that your bodies are members of Christ? Having taken, then, the members of the Christ, will I make [them] members of a prostitute? Let it not be!
Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them members of an harlot?
16 Have you not known that he who is joined to the prostitute is one body? For it says, “The two will be into one flesh.”
God forbid! What! know ye not that he who is joined to an harlot is one body with her? for these two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 And he who is joined to the LORD is one spirit;
And he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
18 flee the whoredom; every sin—whatever a man may commit—is outside the body, and he who is committing whoredom sins against his own body.
Flee from whoredom. Every other sin, that a man committeth, is without the body; but he, that committeth whoredom, sinneth against his own body.
19 Have you not known that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, which you have from God? And you are not your own,
What! know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have from God?
20 for you were bought with a price; glorify, then, God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
and ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price. Glorify God therefore in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
