< 1 Corinthians 3 >
1 And I, brothers, was not able to speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly—as to babies in Christ;
hE bhrAtaraH, ahamAtmikairiva yuSmAbhiH samaM sambhASituM nAzaknavaM kintu zArIrikAcAribhiH khrISTadharmmE zizutulyaizca janairiva yuSmAbhiH saha samabhASE|
2 with milk I fed you, and not with meat, for you were not yet able, but not even yet are you now able,
yuSmAn kaThinabhakSyaM na bhOjayan dugdham apAyayaM yatO yUyaM bhakSyaM grahItuM tadA nAzaknuta idAnImapi na zaknutha, yatO hEtOradhunApi zArIrikAcAriNa AdhvE|
3 for yet you are fleshly, for where [there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not fleshly, and walk in the manner of men?
yuSmanmadhyE mAtsaryyavivAdabhEdA bhavanti tataH kiM zArIrikAcAriNO nAdhvE mAnuSikamArgENa ca na caratha?
4 For when one may say, “I, indeed, am of Paul,” and another, “I—of Apollos,” are you not fleshly?
paulasyAhamityApallOrahamiti vA yadvAkyaM yuSmAkaM kaizcit kaizcit kathyatE tasmAd yUyaM zArIrikAcAriNa na bhavatha?
5 Who, then, is Paul, and who Apollos, but servants through whom you believed, and to each as the LORD gave?
paulaH kaH? ApallO rvA kaH? tau paricArakamAtrau tayOrEkaikasmai ca prabhu ryAdRk phalamadadAt tadvat tayOrdvArA yUyaM vizvAsinO jAtAH|
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was giving growth;
ahaM rOpitavAn ApallOzca niSiktavAn IzvarazcAvarddhayat|
7 so that neither is he who is planting anything, nor he who is watering, but He who is giving growth—God;
atO rOpayitRsEktArAvasArau varddhayitEzvara Eva sAraH|
8 and he who is planting and he who is watering are one, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor,
rOpayitRsEktArau ca samau tayOrEkaikazca svazramayOgyaM svavEtanaM lapsyatE|
9 for we are fellow-workmen of God; you are God’s tillage, God’s building.
AvAmIzvarENa saha karmmakAriNau, Izvarasya yat kSEtram Izvarasya yA nirmmitiH sA yUyamEva|
10 According to the grace of God that was given to me, as a wise master-builder, I have laid a foundation, and another builds on [it],
Izvarasya prasAdAt mayA yat padaM labdhaM tasmAt jnjAninA gRhakAriNEva mayA bhittimUlaM sthApitaM tadupari cAnyEna nicIyatE| kintu yEna yannicIyatE tat tEna vivicyatAM|
11 for no one is able to lay another foundation except that which is laid, which is Jesus the Christ;
yatO yIzukhrISTarUpaM yad bhittimUlaM sthApitaM tadanyat kimapi bhittimUlaM sthApayituM kEnApi na zakyatE|
12 and if anyone builds on this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—
EtadbhittimUlasyOpari yadi kEcit svarNarUpyamaNikASThatRNanalAn nicinvanti,
13 the work will become visible of each, for the day will declare [it], because it is revealed in fire, and the work of each, what kind it is, the fire will prove;
tarhyEkaikasya karmma prakAziSyatE yataH sa divasastat prakAzayiSyati| yatO hatOstana divasEna vahnimayEnOdEtavyaM tata Ekaikasya karmma kIdRzamEtasya parIkSA bahninA bhaviSyati|
14 if the work of anyone remains that he built on [it], he will receive a wage;
yasya nicayanarUpaM karmma sthAsnu bhaviSyati sa vEtanaM lapsyatE|
15 if the work of any is burned up, he will suffer loss, but himself will be saved, but so as through fire.
yasya ca karmma dhakSyatE tasya kSati rbhaviSyati kintu vahnE rnirgatajana iva sa svayaM paritrANaM prApsyati|
16 Have you not known that you are a temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you?
yUyam Izvarasya mandiraM yuSmanmadhyE cEzvarasyAtmA nivasatIti kiM na jAnItha?
17 If anyone ruins the temple of God, God will ruin him; for the temple of God is holy, which you are.
Izvarasya mandiraM yEna vinAzyatE sO'pIzvarENa vinAzayiSyatE yata Izvarasya mandiraM pavitramEva yUyaM tu tanmandiram AdhvE|
18 Let no one deceive himself; if anyone seems to be wise among you in this age—let him become a fool, that he may become wise, (aiōn )
kOpi svaM na vanjcayatAM| yuSmAkaM kazcana cEdihalOkasya jnjAnEna jnjAnavAnahamiti budhyatE tarhi sa yat jnjAnI bhavEt tadarthaM mUPhO bhavatu| (aiōn )
19 for the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, for it has been written: “Who is taking the wise in their craftiness”;
yasmAdihalOkasya jnjAnam Izvarasya sAkSAt mUPhatvamEva| Etasmin likhitamapyAstE, tIkSNA yA jnjAninAM buddhistayA tAn dharatIzvaraH|
20 and again, “The LORD knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are vain.”
punazca| jnjAninAM kalpanA vEtti paramEzO nirarthakAH|
21 So then, let no one glory in men, for all things are yours,
ataEva kO'pi manujairAtmAnaM na zlAghatAM yataH sarvvANi yuSmAkamEva,
22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things about to be—all are yours,
paula vA ApallO rvA kaiphA vA jagad vA jIvanaM vA maraNaM vA varttamAnaM vA bhaviSyadvA sarvvANyEva yuSmAkaM,
23 and you [are] Christ’s, and Christ [is] God’s.
