< 1 Corinthians 10 >
1 And I do not wish you to be ignorant, brothers, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,
Wachalal, man kawaj taj chi kasachan chiꞌwe chi xkꞌojiꞌ jun sutzꞌ pa kiwiꞌ ri e qatat qanan ojer xuqujeꞌ konojel xiꞌkꞌow pa ri plo.
2 and all were immersed into Moses in the cloud, and in the sea;
Konojel xbꞌan kiqasanaꞌ pa ri sutzꞌ xuqujeꞌ pa ri plo jeriꞌ xuꞌx rachiꞌl ri Moisés.
3 and all ate the same spiritual food,
Konojel xa junam wa rech ri uxlabꞌal xkitijo.
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking of a spiritual rock following them, and the rock was the Christ;
Xuqujeꞌ junam xkiqumuj ri jaꞌ rech ri uxlabꞌal, jeriꞌ rumal xequmun che ri abꞌaj rech ri uxlabꞌal ri teren chikij, we abꞌaj riꞌ are Cristo.
5 but in the most of them God was not well pleased, for they were strewn in the wilderness,
Pune jeriꞌ e sibꞌalaj kꞌi chike we winaq riꞌ, man xeqaj ta cho ri Dios, xaq jeriꞌ xekam kanoq pa ri ulew ri katzꞌinowik.
6 and those things became types of us, for our not passionately desiring evil things, as also these desired.
Ronojel we riꞌ xkꞌulmatajik rech xuya kanoq jun kꞌutuꞌn chiqawach, rech jeriꞌ man kaqarayij ta ri itzel taq jastaq, jetaq ri xkibꞌan aꞌreꞌ.
7 Neither become idolaters, as certain of them, as it has been written: “The people sat down to eat and to drink, and stood up to play”;
Miqꞌijilaꞌj e bꞌanom taq tyox jetaq ri xkibꞌan jujun chike aꞌreꞌ, jetaq ri kubꞌij ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik: Xetꞌuyiꞌk ri winaq, xewaꞌik, xequmunik xuqujeꞌ xkijach kibꞌ chubꞌanik ri etzelal.
8 neither may we commit whoredom, as certain of them committed whoredom, and there fell in one day twenty-three thousand;
Maqabꞌan mak kukꞌ taq achyabꞌ xuqujeꞌ ixoqibꞌ jetaq ri xkibꞌan e jujun, rumal riꞌ xekam juwinaq oxibꞌ mil winaq pa jun qꞌij.
9 neither may we tempt the Christ, as also certain of them tempted, and perished by the serpents;
Xuqujeꞌ man are ta kaqilij ubꞌanik ri mak rukꞌ che ri Cristo man kuqꞌat ta tzij pa qawiꞌ, jetaq xkibꞌan e jujun rumal riꞌ xekamik rumal ri xetiꞌik kumal ri kumatz.
10 neither murmur, as also some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer.
Xuqujeꞌ mibꞌij tzij che ri Dios xaq pa iwanimaꞌ, jetaq xkibꞌan e jujun, rumal riꞌ xekamisax rumal ri ángel rech ri kamikal.
11 And all these things happened to those persons as types, and they were written for our admonition, to whom the end of the ages came, (aiōn )
Xkꞌulmataj ronojel we jastaq riꞌ rech kux jun kꞌambꞌejabꞌal noꞌj, xuqujeꞌ xtzꞌibꞌaxik rech kujupixabꞌaj rumal cher uj kꞌo chik pa taq ri kꞌisbꞌal taq qꞌij. (aiōn )
12 so that he who is thinking to stand—let him observe, lest he fall.
Rumal kꞌu riꞌ we kꞌo jun kunaꞌo chi ko kꞌolik, matzaqik.
13 No temptation has taken you—except that of man; and God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted above what you are able, but He will make, with the temptation, also the outlet, for your being able to bear [it].
Ri ix man iriqom taj jun taqchiꞌnem pa mak ri mat rech winaq. Ri Dios kꞌut ri jeqel pa ri utzij, man kuya ta bꞌe kixtaqchiꞌx pa jun makaj ri man kꞌo ta ichuqꞌabꞌ chiretzelaxik.
14 For this reason, my beloved, flee from the idolatry;
Xaq jeriꞌ loqꞌalaj taq wachalal, miꞌqꞌijilaꞌj bꞌanom taq tyox.
15 as to wise men I speak—judge what I say.
Tajin kintzijon kukꞌ winaq ri kꞌo ketaꞌmabꞌal jeriꞌ chichꞌobꞌo rij we kinbꞌij chiꞌwe.
16 The cup of the blessing that we bless—is it not the fellowship of the blood of the Christ? The bread that we break—is it not the fellowship of the body of the Christ?
Ri qumubꞌal rech tewechibꞌal ri kujtyoxin che, ¿la man kꞌu kel kubꞌij waꞌ chi kꞌo qariqoj ibꞌ rukꞌ ri ukikꞌel ri Cristo? Ri kaxlan wa ri kaqapirij ¿la man kꞌu kel kubꞌij waꞌ chi kaqabꞌan riqoj ibꞌ rukꞌ ri utyoꞌjal ri Cristo?
17 Because one bread, one body, are we the many—for we all partake of the one bread.
Xa jun kaxlan wa kaqatij qonojel; je xuqujeꞌ pune uj sibꞌalaj kꞌi, xa jun tyoꞌjal qaꞌnik.
18 See Israel according to the flesh! Are those not eating the sacrifices in the fellowship of the altar?
Chiꞌwilampe ri winaq aꞌj Israel: ¿La man kakibꞌan riqoj ibꞌ rukꞌ ri tzujbꞌal are kakitij ke ri katzuj chilaꞌ?
19 What do I say then? That an idol is anything? Or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything?
¿Jas kawaj kinbꞌij rukꞌ we riꞌ? ¿La are kꞌu tajin kinbꞌij chi ri sipanik ri kakibꞌan ri winaq man aꞌj Israel taj nim ubꞌanik, o la are kꞌu tajin kinbꞌij chi nim kiqꞌij ri e bꞌanom taq tyox?
20 [No, ] but that the things that the nations sacrifice—they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons.
Man je ta riꞌ, xane are kakitzuj ri sipanik, matajin ta kakitzuj cho ri Dios xane chikiwach ri itzel taq uxlabꞌal, man kawaj ta kꞌut kibꞌan riqoj ibꞌ kukꞌ ri itzel taq uxlabꞌal.
21 You are not able to drink the cup of the LORD and the cup of demons; you are not able to partake of the table of the LORD and of the table of demons;
Man kuya taj kixqumun pa ri uqumubꞌal ri Ajawxel kꞌa te riꞌ kixqumun pa ri kiqumubꞌal ri itzel taq uxlabꞌal. Man kuya taj kixwaꞌ puꞌwiꞌ ri umexa ri Ajawxel, kꞌa te riꞌ kixwaꞌ puꞌwiꞌ ri kimexa ri itzel taq uxlabꞌal.
22 do we arouse the LORD to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
¿La are kꞌu utz riꞌ we kaqayak royawal ri Ajawxel? ¿La uj kꞌut nim qachuqꞌabꞌ choch Areꞌ?
23 All things are lawful to me, but not all things are profitable; all things are lawful to me, but not all things build up;
Utz kubꞌan jun ronojel ri karaj, man ronojel ta kꞌut kꞌo kachꞌek che. Utz kubꞌan jun ronojel ri karaj, man ronojel ta kꞌut kukꞌam loq utzilal.
24 let no one seek his own—but each another’s.
Man kꞌo ta bꞌa jun kutzukuj utzilal xaq chibꞌil ribꞌ xane chutzukuj ri utzilal ke nikꞌaj chik.
25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat-market, not inquiring, because of the conscience,
Chitijaꞌ ronojel ri kakꞌayix pa ri kꞌayibꞌal tiꞌj, makitatabꞌe la taj jawjeꞌ petinaq wi, rech makichomaj ta rij.
26 for the earth and its fullness [are] the LORD’s;
Jeriꞌ rumal cher are ri Ajawxel ajchoqꞌe ri uwachulew xuqujeꞌ ronojel ri kꞌo choch.
27 and if anyone of the unbelieving calls you, and you wish to go, eat all that is set before you, inquiring nothing, because of the conscience;
We kꞌo ne jun man kojonel taj kixusikꞌij kiꞌtija iwa rukꞌ, kikꞌamawaꞌj kꞌu uqꞌabꞌ ri sikꞌinik, chitijaꞌ ronojel ri kaya chiꞌwe, makitatabꞌe la taj jawjeꞌ xpe wi.
28 and if anyone may say to you, “This is a thing sacrificed to an idol,” do not eat, because of that one who showed [it], and of the conscience, for the LORD’s [is] the earth and its fullness:
We kꞌu kꞌo jun kubꞌij chiꞌwe, “We jastaq riꞌ tzujtal chikiwach bꞌanom taq tyox” man kitij taj rumal rech ri xbꞌin chiꞌwe man rumal ta ri xichomaj ix.
29 and conscience, I say, not of yourself, but of the other, for why [is it] that my liberty is judged by another’s conscience?
Are tajin kinbꞌij ri kuchomaj chi jun chiꞌwij, man are ta kinbꞌij in ri kichomaj ix. Jeriꞌ rumal cher ¿jas ta kꞌu che ri kaqꞌat tzij pa nuwiꞌ rumal jun chik, rumal ri yaꞌtal bꞌe chwe kinbꞌano?
30 And if I partake thankfully, why am I spoken of [as] evil, for that for which I give thanks?
We rukꞌ tyoxinik kintij ri wa ri kaya chwe, ¿la kaqꞌat kꞌu tzij pa nuwiꞌ we kintij ri jastaq ri nutyoxim che ri Dios?
31 Whether, then, you eat, or drink, or do anything, do all to the glory of God;
Kꞌisbꞌal rech, we kꞌu kitijo o kiqumuj o kibꞌan xapaskux jun jastaq, chibꞌana chuyaꞌik uqꞌij ri Dios.
32 become offenseless, both to Jews and Greeks, and to the Assembly of God;
Mixux topibꞌal aqanaj chike ri aꞌj Israel, xuqujeꞌ ri man aꞌj Israel taj o xapachin chike ri ukomontyox ri Dios.
33 as I also please all in all things, not seeking my own profit, but that of many—that they may be saved.
Je chixnoꞌjinoq jetaq ri kinnoꞌjin in, kawaj utz kinnoꞌjin kukꞌ kojonel. Man are ta kintzukuj ri kawaj in, xane are ri kakaj chi nikꞌaj, rech jeriꞌ kekolotajik.
