1 And sons of Issachar: Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimron—four.
The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puah, Jashub and Shimron—a total of four.
2 And sons of Tola: Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of the house of their fathers, [even] of Tola, mighty men of valor in their generations; their number in the days of David [is] twenty-two thousand and six hundred.
The sons of Tola: Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Samuel—leaders of their families. In the time of David, the descendants of Tola listed in their genealogy a total of 22,600 warriors.
3 And sons of Uzzi: Izrahiah; and sons of Izrahiah: Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, Hamishah—all of them heads.
The son of Uzzi: Izrahiah. The sons of Izrahiah: Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah. All five were family heads.
4 And beside them, by their generations, of the house of their fathers, [are] thirty-six thousand troops of the host of battle, for they multiplied wives and sons;
They had many wives and sons and so in their genealogy they list 36,000 battle-ready fighting men.
5 and their brothers of all the families of Issachar, mighty men of valor, listed by their genealogy, [are] eighty-seven thousand for the whole.
The relatives who were warriors belonging to all the families of Issachar, according to their genealogy, were 87,000 in total.
6 Of Benjamin: Bela, and Becher, and Jediael—three.
Three sons of Benjamin: Bela, Beker, and Jediael.
7 And sons of Bela: Ezbon, and Uzzi, and Uzziel, and Jerimoth, and Iri—five; heads of a house of fathers, mighty men of valor, with their genealogy, twenty-two thousand and thirty-four.
The sons of Bela: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri, leaders of their families—a total of five. They had 22,034 fighting men according to their genealogy.
8 And sons of Becher: Zemirah, and Joash, and Eliezar, and Elioenai, and Omri, and Jerimoth, and Abijah, and Anathoth, and Alameth. All these [are] sons of Becher,
The sons of Beker: Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth. These were all the sons of Beker.
9 with their genealogy, after their generations, heads of a house of their fathers, mighty men of valor, twenty thousand and two hundred.
Their genealogy included the family heads and 20,200 fighting men.
10 And sons of Jediael: Bilhan; and sons of Bilhan: Jeush, and Benjamin, and Ehud, and Chenaanah, and Zethan, and Tarshish, and Ahishahar.
The son of Jediael: Bilhan. The sons of Bilhan: Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish, and Ahishahar.
11 All these [are] sons of Jediael, even heads of the fathers, mighty in valor, seventeen thousand and two hundred going out to the host for battle.
All these sons of Jediael were family heads. They had 17,200 battle-ready warriors.
12 And Shuppim and Huppim [are] sons of Ir, [and] Hushim [is] the son of Aher.
Shuppim and Huppim were sons of Ir, and Hushim was the son of Aher.
13 Sons of Naphtali: Jahziel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shallum, sons of Bilhah.
The sons of Naphtali: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shallum—the descendants of Bilhah.
14 Sons of Manasseh: Ashriel, whom Jaladah his Aramean concubine bore, with Machir father of Gilead.
The sons of Manasseh: Asriel whose mother was his Aramean concubine. She was also the mother of Makir, the father of Gilead.
15 And Machir took wives for Huppim and for Shuppim, and the name of the first [is] Maachah, and the name of the second Zelophehad, and Zelophehad has daughters.
Makir found a wife for Huppim and a wife for Shuppim. His sister's name was Maacah. The second was called Zelophehad. She only had daughters.
16 And Maachah wife of Machir bears a son and calls his name Peresh, and the name of his brother [is] Sheresh, and his sons [are] Ulam and Rakem.
Maacah, Makir's wife, had a son and called him Peresh. His brother was called Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.
17 And son of Ulam: Bedan. These [are] sons of Gilead son of Machir, son of Manasseh.
The son of Ulam: Bedan. These were all the sons of Gilead, son of Makir, son of Manasseh.
18 And his sister Hammolecheth bore Ishhod, and Abiezer, and Mahalah.
His sister Hammoleketh was the mother of Ishhod, Abiezer, and Mahlah.
19 And the sons of Shemida are Ahian, and Shechem, and Likhi, and Aniam.
The sons of Shemida were: Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.
20 And sons of Ephraim: Shuthelah, and Bered his son, and Tahath his son, and Eladah his son, and Tahath his son,
The descendants of Ephraim: Shuthelah, Bered his son, Tahath his son, Eleadah his son, Tahath his son,
21 and Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead; and men of Gath who are born in the land have slain them because they came down to take their livestock.
Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son. Ezer and Elead were killed by the men who were living in Gath when they went there to try and steal their livestock.
22 And their father Ephraim mourns many days, and his brothers come to comfort him,
Their father Ephraim mourned for them a long time, and his relatives came to comfort him.
23 and he goes in to his wife, and she conceives and bears a son, and he calls his name Beriah, because his house had been in calamity—
Then he slept with his wife again. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, whom he named him Beriah because of this family tragedy.
24 and his daughter [is] Sherah, and she builds Beth-Horon, the lower and the upper, and Uzzen-Sherah—
Sheerah, his daughter, founded Lower and Upper Beth Horon together with Uzzen Sheerah.
25 Rephah [is] his son, and Resheph, and Telah his son, and Tahan his son,

26 Laadan his son, Ammihud his son, Elishama his son,

27 Nun his son, Joshua his son.

28 And their possession and their dwellings [are] Beth-El and its small towns, and Naaran to the east, and Gezer and its small towns to the west, and Shechem and its small towns, as far as Gaza and its small towns;
The land they owned and the places they lived included Bethel and nearby towns, from Naaran to the east to Gezer and its towns to the west, and Shechem and its towns up to Ayyah and its towns.
29 and by the parts of the sons of Manasseh [are] Beth-Shean and its small towns, Taanach and its small towns, Megiddo and its small towns, Dor and its small towns; the sons of Joseph, son of Israel, dwelt in these.
On the border with Manasseh were Beth Shan, Taanach, Megiddo, and Dor, along with their towns. These were the towns where the descendants of Joseph son of Israel lived.
30 Son of Asher: Imnah, and Ishve, and Ishvi, and Beriah, and their sister Serah.
The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah. Their sister was Serah.
31 And sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel—he [is] father of Birzavith.
The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malkiel, the father of Birzaith.
32 And Heber begot Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and their sister Shua.
Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer, and Hotham, and of their sister Shua.
33 And sons of Japhlet: Pasach, and Bimhal, and Ashvath; these [are] sons of Japhlet.
The sons of Japhlet: Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath. These were all the sons of Japhlet.
34 And sons of Shamer: Ahi, and Rohgah, Jehubbah, and Aram.
The sons of Shomer: Ahi, Rohgah, Hubbah, and Aram.
35 And [each] son of his brother Helem: Zophah, and Imna, and Shelesh, and Amal.
The sons of his brother Helem: Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal.
36 Sons of Zophah: Suah, and Harnepher, and Shual, and Beri, and Imrah,

40 All these [are] sons of Asher, heads of the house of the fathers, chosen ones, mighty in valor, heads of the princes, with their genealogy, for the host, for battle, their number [is] twenty-six thousand men.
These were all descendants of Asher—family heads, proven men, strong warriors, and great leaders. According to their genealogy, they had 26,000 battle-ready warriors.
