1 Chronicles 20
1 And it comes to pass, at the time of the turn of the year—at the time of the going out of the messengers—that Joab leads out the force of the host, and destroys the land of the sons of Ammon, and comes in and besieges Rabbah—David is abiding in Jerusalem—and Joab strikes Rabbah, and breaks it down.
Al año siguiente, al tiempo en que los reyes suelen salir a campaña, Joab se puso al frente de un fuerte ejército y asoló el país de los hijos de Ammón; y llegado que hubo puso sitio a Rabbá; David, empero, se quedó en Jerusalén. Entretanto, Joab derrotó a Rabbá y la destruyó.
2 And David takes the crown of their king from off his head, and finds it [to be] a talent of gold [in] weight, and [with] precious stone in it, and it is on the head of David; and he has brought out very much spoil of the city,
David le quitó la corona de su rey de encima de la cabeza, y halló que pesaba un talento de oro. Había en ella una piedra preciosa. Fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David, el cual sacó de la ciudad muchísimo botín.
3 and he has brought out the people who [are] in it, and sets [them] to the saw, and to cutting instruments of iron, and to axes; and thus David does to all cities of the sons of Ammon, and David turns back—and all the people—to Jerusalem.
Hizo salir al pueblo que había en ella, y los puso a las sierras, a los trillos de hierro y a las hachas. Así hizo David con todas las ciudades de los hijos de Ammón. Después volvió David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalén.
4 And it comes to pass after this, that war remains in Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbechai the Hushathite has struck Sippai, of the children of the giant, and they are humbled.
Después de esto tuvo lugar una batalla en Guézer contra los filisteos, en la cual Sibecai husatita mató a Sipai, uno de los Refaím, los cuales fueron humillados.
5 And there is war with the Philistines again, and Elhanan son of Jair strikes Lahmi, brother of Goliath the Gittite, the wood of whose spear [is] like a weavers’ beam.
Hubo otra batalla contra los filisteos; y Elhanán, hijo de Jaír, mató a Lahmí, hermano de Goliat geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un enjullo de tejedor.
6 And there is war in Gath again, and there is a man of [great] measure, and his fingers and his toes [are] six and six—twenty-four [total], and he has also been born to the giant.
Hubo otra batalla más en Gat, y había un hombre de gran estatura, que tenía seis dedos (en sendas manos y pies): veinte y cuatro (entre todos). También ese era descendiente de Rafa.
7 And he reproaches Israel, and Jonathan son of Shimea, brother of David, strikes him.
Cuando insultó a Israel, le mató Jonatán, hijo de Simeá, hermano de David. Estos eran descendientes de Rafa, de Gat, y cayeron por mano de David y por manos de sus paladines.
8 These were born to the giant in Gath, and they fall by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
