1 Chronicles 14
1 And Huram king of Tyre sends messengers to David, and cedar-wood, and craftsmen of walls, and craftsmen of wood, to build a house for him.
Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya une députation à David, avec du bois de cèdre, des maçons et des charpentiers pour lui bâtir une maison.
2 And David knows that YHWH has established him for king over Israel, because of the lifting up on high of his kingdom, for the sake of His people Israel.
Et David reconnut que le Seigneur l’avait destiné à régner sur Israël, et lui avait accordé une royauté glorieuse en faveur de son peuple Israël.
3 And David takes wives again in Jerusalem, and David begets sons and daughters again;
David prit encore des épouses dans Jérusalem, et il engendra encore des fils et des filles.
4 and these [are] the names of the children whom he has in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
Voici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem: Chammoua, Chobab, Nathan et Salomon;
5 and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
Yibhar, Elichoua, Elpélet;
6 and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
Nogah, Néfeg et Yafia;
7 and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
Elichama, Beélyada et Elifélet.
8 And the Philistines hear that David has been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines go up to seek David, and David hears, and goes out before them.
Les Philistins, ayant su que David avait été oint comme roi de tout Israël, montèrent tous pour chercher à le prendre; David l’apprit et sortit à leur rencontre.
9 And the Philistines have come, and rush into the Valley of Rephaim,
Les Philistins étaient arrivés et s’étaient déployés dans la vallée de Refaïm.
10 and David asks of God, saying, “Do I go up against the Philistines—and have You given them into my hand?” And YHWH says to him, “Go up, and I have given them into your hand.”
Alors David consulta Dieu en disant: "Dois-je monter vers les Philistins? Les livreras-tu entre mes mains?" Le Seigneur répondit à David: "Monte, je les livrerai entre tes mains.
11 And they go up into Ba‘al-Perazim, and David strikes them there, and David says, “God has broken up my enemies by my hand, like the breaking up of waters”; therefore they have called the name of that place Ba‘al-Perazim.
On monta à Baal-Peraçim, et David les y battit. Et il dit: "Dieu a dispersé mes ennemis par ma main, comme une eau débordée." C’Est pour cela que cet endroit fut nommé Baal-Peracim.
12 And they leave their gods there, and David commands, and they are burned with fire.
Ils laissèrent là leurs idoles, qui furent brûlées sur l’ordre de David.
13 And the Philistines add again, and rush into the valley,
Mais de nouveau les Philistins se déployèrent dans la vallée.
14 and David asks again of God, and God says to him, “Do not go up after them, turn around from them, and you have come to them from the front [[or in front]] of the mulberries;
David consulta encore Dieu, et Dieu lui répondit: "Ne monte pas à leur suite: fais un demi-tour et marche sur eux du côté des bekhaïm.
15 and it comes to pass, when you hear the sound of the stepping at the heads of the mulberries, then you go out into battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
Or, lorsque tu entendras un bruit de pas sur les cimes des bekhaïm, engage le combat, car alors Dieu sera venu à ton secours, pour que tu battes l’armée des Philistins."
16 And David does as God commanded him, and they strike the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer;
David se conforma aux instructions de Dieu, et ils battirent l’armée des Philistins depuis Ghibôn jusqu’à Ghézer.
17 and the name of David goes out into all the lands, and YHWH has put his fear on all the nations.
Et la renommée de David se répandit dans tous les pays, et l’Eternel imprima sa terreur à toutes les nations.
