Zechariah 8

1 And the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying,

Vidare kom HERREN Sebaots ord; han sade:

2 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, I am jealous for Zion with a great jealousy, and with great fury am I jealous for her.

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Jag har stor nitälskan för Sion, ja, med stor vrede nitälskar jag för henne.

3 Thus hath said the Lord, I return unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called, The city of truth; and the mount of the Lord of hosts, The holy mount.

Så säger HERREN: Jag vill vända: åter till Sion och taga min boning i Jerusalem; och Jerusalem skall kallas "den trogna staden", och HERREN Sebaots berg "det heliga berget".

4 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Again shall there sit old men and old women in the streets of Jerusalem, and every one with his staff in his hand because of their multitude of years.

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Ännu en gång skola gamla män och gamla kvinnor vara att finna på gatorna i Jerusalem, var och en med sin stav i handen, för hög ålders skull.

5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in her streets.

Och stadens gator skola vara fulla av gossar och flickor, som leka där på gatorna,

6 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, If it should be marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes? saith the Lord of hosts.

Så säger HERREN Sebaot. Om än sådant på den tiden kan komma att synas alltför underbart för kvarlevan av detta folk, icke måste det väl därför synas alltför underbart också för mig? säger HERREN Sebaot.

7 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the country of the setting of the sun;

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Se, jag skall frälsa mitt folk ut ur både österland och västerland

8 And I will bring them [back], that they may dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be unto me for a people, and I will be unto them for a God, in truth and in righteousness.

och låta dem komma och bosätta sig i Jerusalem; och de skola vara mitt folk, och jag skall vara deras Gud, i sanning och rättfärdighet.

9 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words out of the mouth of the prophets, who [spoke] on the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid, when the temple was to be built.

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Fatten mod, I som i denna tid hören dessa ord av samma profeters mun, som talade på den tid då grunden lades till HERREN Sebaots hus, templet som skulle byggas upp.

10 For before those days there was no reward for man, nor any reward for beast; and for him that went out or came in there was no peace, because of the oppressor: and I let loose all men, every one against his neighbor.

Ty före den tiden var människornas arbete lönlöst och djurens arbete fåfängt; ingen hade någon ro för sina ovänner, vare sig han gick ut eller in, ty jag eggade alla människor mot varandra.

11 But now I am no more as in the former days unto the residue of this people, saith the Lord of hosts.

Men nu är jag icke mer så sinnad mot kvarlevan av detta folk som jag var i forna dagar, säger HERREN Sebaot.

12 For the seed shall be undisturbed; the vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give her production, and the heavens shall give their dew: and I will bestow on the remnant of this people all these things.

Ty nu skall friden skaffa utsäde, vinträdet skall giva sin frukt, jorden skall giva sin gröda, och himmelen skall giva sin dagg; och jag skall låta kvarlevan av detta folk få allt detta till sin arvedel.

13 And it shall come to pass, that, in the same degree as ye have been a curse among the nations, O house of Judah, and house of Israel, so will I save you and ye shall be a blessing: fear not; let your hands be strong.

Och det skall ske, att likasom I, både Juda hus och Israels hus, haven varit ett exempel som man har nämnt, när man förbannade bland hedningarna, så skolen I nu, då jag har frälsat eder, tvärtom bliva nämnda, när man välsignar. Frukten icke, utan fatten mod.

14 For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, As I had purposed to do you evil, when your fathers incensed me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I bethought myself not:

Ty så säger HERREN Sebaot: Likasom jag, när edra fäder förtörnade mig, beslöt att göra eder ont, säger HERREN Sebaot, och icke sedan ångrade det,

15 So do I again purpose in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah; fear ye not.

så har jag tvärtom i denna tid beslutit att göra gott mot Jerusalem och Juda hus; frukten icke.

16 These are the things that ye shall do, Speak ye the truth every man to his neighbor; [with] truth and the judgment of peace judge ye in your gates;

Men detta är vad I skolen göra: Talen sanning med varandra; domen rätta och fridsamma domar i edra portar.

17 And let none of you think evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love not a false oath, for all these are what I hate, saith the Lord.

Tänken icke i edra hjärtan ut ont mot varandra, och älsken icke falska eder; ty allt sådant hatar jag, säger HERREN.

18 And the word of the Lord of hosts came unto me, saying,

Och HERREN Sebaots ord kom till mig; han sade:

19 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, The fast of the fourth, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth [month], shall become to the house of Judah gladness and joy, and merry festivals: only love ye the truth and peace.

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Fastedagarna i fjärde, femte, sjunde och tionde månaden skola för Juda hus bliva till fröjd och glädje och till sköna högtider. Men älsken sanning och frid.

20 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, [A time] shall yet be! when there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities;

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Ännu en gång skall det ske att folk skola komma hit och många städers invånare;

21 And the inhabitants of one [city] shall go to another, saying, Let us only go to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts: I too will likewise go.

och invånarna i den ena staden skola gå till den andra och säga: "Upp, låtom oss gå åstad och bönfalla inför HERREN och söka HERREN Sebaot; jag själv vill ock gå åstad."

22 And many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord.

Ja, många folk och mäktiga hednafolk skola komma och söka HERREN Sebaot i Jerusalem och bönfalla inför HERREN,

23 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, In those days [it shall happen], that ten men out of all the languages of the nations shall take hold—yea, they shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, Let us go with you; for we have heard that God is with you.

Så säger HERREN Sebaot: På den tiden skall det ske att tio män av allahanda tungomål som talas bland hednafolken skola fatta en judisk man i mantelfliken och säga: "Låt oss gå med eder, ty vi hava hört att Gud är med eder."
