Zechariah 7
1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius that the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah on the fourth day of the ninth month, in Kislev;
রাজা দারিয়াবসের রাজত্বের চতুর্থ বছরের কিশ্লেব নামক নবম মাসের চতুর্থ দিন সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য সখরিয়ের কাছে উপস্থিত হল।
2 When they had sent unto Beth-el Sherezer and Regem-melech, and his men, to make entreaty before the Lord.
বেথেলের লোকেরা শরেৎসরকে, রেগম্মেলককে ও তাদের লোকদের সদাপ্রভুর কাছে বিনতি করতে পাঠিয়েছিল
3 [And] to say unto the priests who were in the house of the Lord of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Shall I weep in the fifth month with abstinence, as I have done already these many years?
সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের যাজকদের ও ভাববাদীদের একথা জিজ্ঞাসা করার দ্বারা, “আমি এত বছর যেমন করে এসেছি সেভাবে কি পঞ্চম মাসেও শোকপ্রকাশ ও উপবাস করব?”
4 Then came the word of the Lord of hosts unto me, saying,
পরে সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর এই বাক্য আমার কাছে উপস্থিত হল,
5 Say unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, as followeth, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh [month], already these seventy years, did ye in anywise fast for me, yea, for me?
“তুমি দেশের সব লোকদের ও যাজকদের জিজ্ঞাসা করো, ‘তোমরা গত সত্তর বছর ধরে পঞ্চম ও সপ্তম মাসে যে শোকপ্রকাশ ও উপবাস করেছ, তা কি সত্যিই আমার উদ্দেশে করেছ?
6 And if ye do eat, and if ye do drink, are ye not yourselves those that eat, and yourselves those that drink?
আর যখন তোমরা খেয়েছ ও পান করেছ, তোমরা কি নিজেদের জন্যই তা করোনি?
7 Are not these the words which the Lord hath proclaimed by means of the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, with her cities round about her, when [men] inhabited the south, and the lowlands?
যখন জেরুশালেম ও তার চারপাশের নগরগুলিতে লোকজন বাস করছিল ও সেগুলির অবস্থার উন্নতি হয়েছিল আর নেগেভ ও পশ্চিমের নিচু পাহাড়ি এলাকায় যখন লোকদের বসতি ছিল তখনও কি সদাপ্রভু এসব কথা পূর্বতন ভাববাদীদের মাধ্যমে বলেননি?’”
8 And the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah, saying,
আর সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য সখরিয়ের কাছে উপস্থিত হল,
9 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true justice, and show kindness and mercy every man to his brother;
“সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, ‘তোমরা ন্যায়ভাবে বিচার করো, একে অন্যের প্রতি করুণা করো ও সহানুভূতি দেখাও।
10 And defraud not the widow, or the fatherless, the stranger, or the poor; and imagine not evil in your heart one against the other.
তোমরা বিধবাদের বা অনাথদের, বিদেশিদের বা গরিবদের উপর অত্যাচার কোরো না। একে অন্যের বিষয় হৃদয়ে মন্দ চিন্তা কোরো না।’
11 But they refused to listen, and turned away rebelliously the shoulder, and stopped their ears, so as not to hear;
“কিন্তু তারা তা শুনতে চায়নি; একগুঁয়েমি করে তারা পিছন ফিরে তাদের কান বন্ধ করে রেখেছিল।
12 And their heart they rendered as an adamant, so as not to hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent through his spirit, by means of the former prophets: wherefore came a great anger from the Lord of hosts.
তারা তাদের হৃদয় চকমকি পাথরের মতো শক্ত করেছিল এবং বিধানের কথা অথবা সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু তাঁর আত্মা দ্বারা আগেকার ভাববাদীদের মাধ্যমে যে বাক্য পাঠিয়েছিলেন তা যেন শুনতে না হয়। এই জন্য তাদের উপর সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভুর মহাক্রোধ উপস্থিত হয়েছিল।
13 And it is come to pass, that as he proclaimed, and they would not hear: so had they to call, and I would not hear, saith the Lord of hosts;
“‘আমি যখন ডেকেছিলাম, তারা শোনেনি; সেইজন্য তারা যখন ডাকবে, আমিও শুনব না,’ সর্বশক্তিমান সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন।
14 And I resolved to scatter them with a storm-wind among all the nations that they had not known; and the land was left desolate after them, without any one to pass through it forward or backward; and the pleasant land have they changed into a desert.
‘আমি তাদের ঘূর্ণিঝড় দিয়ে অপরিচিত জাতিদের মধ্যে ছড়িয়ে দিয়েছি। এরপরে তাদের দেশ এত জনশূন্য হয়ে পড়েছিল যে, সেখানে কেউ যাওয়া-আসা করত না। এইভাবে তারা সেই সুন্দর দেশটাকে জনশূন্য করেছিল।’”
