Zechariah 2
1 And I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, there was a man with a measure-cord in his hand.
Je levai les yeux et je vis: Et voici un homme ayant à la main un cordeau à mesurer.
2 Then said I, Whither art thou going? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is her breadth, and what is her length.
Et je dis: « Où vas-tu? » Et il me dit: « Je vais mesurer Jérusalem pour voir quelle en doit être la largeur et quelle en doit être la longueur. »
3 And, behold, the angel that spoke with me went out, and another angel came out to meet him;
Et voici que parut l’ange qui parlait avec moi; et un autre ange apparut, allant à sa rencontre;
4 And he said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Without walls shall Jerusalem be inhabited because of the multitude of men and cattle in her midst.
et il lui dit: « Cours! Parle à ce jeune homme en ces termes: C’est comme une ville ouverte que sera habitée Jérusalem, tant il y aura en son sein d’hommes et de bêtes.
5 But I—I will be unto her, saith the Lord, a wall of fire round about, and for glory will I be in the midst of her.
Et moi, je serai pour elle, — oracle de Yahweh, — une muraille de feu à l’entour, et je serai en gloire au milieu d’elle.
6 Up! up! and flee away from the land of the north saith the Lord; for as the four winds of the heaven have I spread you abroad, saith the Lord.
Holà! Holà! Fuyez du pays du septentrion, — oracle de Yahweh, car je vous ai dispersés aux quatre vents du ciel, — oracle de Yahweh.
7 Up, Zion, escape, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
Holà! Sion, sauve-toi, toi qui habites chez la fille de Babylone!
8 For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, For the sake of [your] glory hath he sent me unto the nations that have despoiled you; for whoever toucheth you, toucheth the apple of his eye.
Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Pour sa gloire il m’a envoyé vers les nations qui vous ont pillés; car qui vous touche touche la prunelle de son œil.
9 For, behold, I will swing my hand over them, and they shall be a spoil to those that served them: and ye shall acknowledge that the Lord of hosts hath sent me.
Car voici que j’agite ma main sur elles, et elles seront un butin pour ceux qui leur sont asservis; et vous saurez que Yahweh des armées m’a envoyé.
10 Sing, and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for, lo, I am coming, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.
Pousse des cris de joie et sois dans l’allégresse, fille de Sion; car voici que je viens et j’habiterai au milieu de toi, — oracle de Yahweh.
11 And many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they shall be unto me for a people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
Beaucoup de nations s’attacheront à Yahweh en ce jour-là, et elles seront mon peuple; et j’habiterai au milieu de toi, et tu sauras que Yahweh des armées m’a envoyé vers toi.
12 And the Lord will take Judah as his inheritance upon the holy land; and he will again make choice of Jerusalem.
Yahweh possédera Juda comme sa portion sur la terre sainte, et il choisira encore Jérusalem.
13 Be silent, all flesh! before the Lord; for he is waked up out of his holy habitation.
Que toute chair fasse silence devant Yahweh, car il s’est élevé de sa sainte demeure.
