< Song of Solomon 7 >

1 How beautiful are thy steps in sandals, O prince's daughter! the roundings of thy thighs are like jewelled ornaments, the work of the hands of the artificer.
Chorus to Bride: How beautiful are your footsteps in shoes, O daughter of a ruler! The joints of your thighs are like jewels, which have been fabricated by the hand of an artist.
2 Thy navel is like a round goblet which lacketh not the mixed wine: thy body is like a heap of wheat fenced about with lilies.
Your navel is a round bowl, never lacking in curvature. Your abdomen is like a bundle of wheat, surrounded with lilies.
3 Thy two breasts are like two fawns, the twins of the roe.
Your two breasts are like two young twin does.
4 Thy neck is like a tower of ivory; thy eyes are like the pools in Cheshbon, by the gate of Bath-rabbim; thy nose is like the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus.
Your neck is like a tower of ivory. Your eyes like the fish ponds at Heshbon, which are at the entrance to the daughter of the multitude. Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon, which looks out toward Damascus.
5 Thy head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thy head like purple: a king is held bound in the tresses.
Your head is like Carmel, and the hairs of your head are like the purple of the king, bound into pleats.
6 How beautiful and how pleasant art thou, O love, in thy attractions!
Most beloved one, how beautiful you are, and how graceful in delights!
7 This thy stature is like a palm-tree, and thy breasts are like clusters of grapes.
Your stature is comparable to the palm tree, and your breasts to clusters of grapes.
8 I thought, I wish to climb up the palm-tree, I wish to take hold of its boughs; and, oh, that thy breasts might be like clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;
Groom: I said, I will ascend to the palm tree, and take hold of its fruit. And your breasts will be like clusters of grapes on the vine. And the fragrance of your mouth will be like apples.
9 And thy palate like the best wine, that glideth down for my friend gently, exciting the lips of those that are asleep.—
Bride: Your throat is like the finest wine: wine worthy for my beloved to drink, and for his lips and teeth to contemplate.
10 I am my friend's, and toward me is his desire.
I am for my beloved, and his turning is to me.
11 Come, my friend, let us go forth into the field; let us spend the night in the villages;
Approach, my beloved. Let us go out into the field; let us linger in the villages.
12 Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine have blossomed, whether the young grape have opened [to the view], whether the pomegranates have budded: there will I give my caresses unto thee.
Let us go up in the morning to the vineyards; let us see if the vineyard has flourished, if the flowers are ready to bear fruit, if the pomegranates have flourished. There I will give my breasts to you.
13 The mandrakes give forth [their] smell, and at our doors are all manner of precious fruits, new and also old: O my friend, these have I laid up for thee.
The mandrakes yield their fragrance. At our gates is every fruit. The new and the old, my beloved, I have kept for you.
