Ruth 1
1 And it came to pass in the days when the judges judged, that there was a famine in the land: and there went a certain man of Beth-lechem-judah to sojourn in the fields of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
| در زمانی که داوران بر قوم اسرائیل حکومت می‌کردند، سرزمین اسرائیل دچار خشکسالی شد. مردی از اهالی افراته به نام الیملک که در بیت‌لحم یهودا زندگی می‌کرد، در اثر این خشکسالی از وطن خود به سرزمین موآب کوچ کرد. زن او نعومی و دو پسرش مَحلون و کِلیون نیز همراه او بودند. |
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Na'omi, and the name of his two sons Machlon and Kilyon, Ephrathites of Beth-lechem-judah. And they came into the fields of Moab, and remained there.
3 Thereupon died Elimelech Na'omi's husband; and she was left, with her two sons.
| در طی اقامتشان در موآب، الیملک درگذشت و نعومی با دو پسرش تنها ماند. |
4 And they took themselves wives of the women of Moab; the name of one was 'Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelt there about ten years.
| پسران نعومی با دو دختر موآبی به نامهای عرفه و روت ازدواج کردند. ده سال بعد محلون و کلیون نیز مردند. بدین ترتیب نعومی، هم شوهر و هم پسرانش را از دست داد و تنها ماند. |
5 And then died also both of these, Machlon and Kilyon, and the woman was left [deprived] of her two children and her husband.
6 Then did she arise with her daughters-in-law, and returned homeward from the fields of Moab; for she had heard in the fields of Moab that the Lord had thought of his people in giving them bread.
| او تصمیم گرفت با دو عروسش به زادگاه خود یعنی سرزمین یهودا بازگردد، زیرا شنیده بود که خداوند به قوم خود برکت داده و محصول زمین دوباره فراوان شده است. اما وقتی به راه افتادند، تصمیم نعومی عوض شد |
7 Therefore she went forth out of the place where she had been, and her two daughters-in-law [were] with her; and they went on their way to return unto the land of Judah.
8 Then said Na'omi unto her two daughters-in-law, Go, return each one to her mother's house: may the Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
| و به عروسهایش گفت: «شما همراه من نیایید. به خانهٔ پدری خود بازگردید. خداوند به شما برکت بدهد همان‌گونه که شما به من و پسرانم خوبی کردید. |
9 May the Lord grant unto you that ye may find rest, each one in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them, and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
| امیدوارم به لطف خداوند بتوانید بار دیگر شوهر کنید و خوشبخت شوید.» سپس نعومی آنها را بوسید و آنها گریستند |
10 And they said unto her, [No, ] for truly we will return with thee unto thy people.
| و به نعومی گفتند: «ما می‌خواهیم همراه تو نزد قوم تو بیاییم.» |
11 Then said Na'omi, Return back, my daughters; why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may become your husbands?
| ولی نعومی در جواب آنها گفت: «ای دخترانم بهتر است برگردید. چرا می‌خواهید همراه من بیایید؟ مگر من می‌توانم صاحب پسران دیگری شوم که برای شما شوهر باشند؟ |
12 Return back, my daughters, go; for I am too old to become [the wife] of any man; yea, if I were even to think, I have hope; should I even obtain this night a husband, and should also bear sons:
| ای دخترانم، نزد قوم خود بازگردید، زیرا از من گذشته است که بار دیگر شوهر کنم. حتی اگر همین امشب شوهر کنم و صاحب پسرانی شوم، |
13 Would ye wait in hopes for them till they were grown? would ye debar yourselves for them so as not to become the wives of any man? not so, my daughters; for I feel much more bitter pain than you; because the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.
| آیا تا بزرگ شدن آنها صبر خواهید کرد و با کس دیگری ازدواج نخواهید نمود؟ نه، دخترانم! وضع من بسیار تلخ‌تر از وضع شماست، زیرا خداوند خودش دستش را بر من بلند کرده است.» |
14 And they lifted up their voice and wept a long time; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law; but Ruth cleaved unto her.
| آنها بار دیگر با صدای بلند گریستند. عرفه مادرشوهرش را بوسید و از او خداحافظی کرد و به خانه بازگشت. اما روت از او جدا نشد. |
15 And she said, Behold, thy sister-in-law is returned back unto her people, and unto her gods; return thou after thy sister-in-law.
| نعومی به روت گفت: «ببین دخترم، زن برادر شوهرت نزد قوم و خدایان خود بازگشت. تو هم همین کار را بکن.» |
16 But Ruth said, Urge me not to leave thee, to return from following thee; for whither thou goest, will I go; and where thou lodgest, will I lodge; thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.
| اما روت به او گفت: «مرا مجبور نکن که تو را ترک کنم، چون هر جا بروی با تو خواهم آمد و هر جا بمانی با تو خواهم ماند. قوم تو، قوم من و خدای تو، خدای من خواهد بود. |
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried; may the Lord do so to me, and may he so continue, if aught but death shall part me from thee.
| می‌خواهم جایی که تو می‌میری بمیرم و در کنار تو دفن شوم. خداوند بدترین بلا را بر سر من بیاورد، اگر بگذارم چیزی جز مرگ مرا از تو جدا کند.» |
18 When she thus saw that she was persisting to go with her, she left off speaking unto her.
| نعومی چون دید تصمیم روت قطعی است و به هیچ وجه نمی‌شود او را منصرف کرد، دیگر اصرار ننمود. |
19 So these two went until they came to Beth-lechem. And it came to pass, when they entered Beth-lechem, that all the city was in commotion about them, and people said, Is this Na'omi?
| پس هر دو روانهٔ بیت‌لحم شدند. وقتی به آنجا رسیدند تمام اهالی به هیجان آمدند و زنها از همدیگر می‌پرسیدند: «آیا این خود نعومی است؟» |
20 And she said unto them, Call me not Na'omi, call me Mara; for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
| نعومی به ایشان گفت: «مرا نعومی (یعنی”خوشحال“) نخوانید. مرا ماره (یعنی”تلخ“) صدا کنید؛ زیرا خدای قادر مطلق زندگی مرا تلخ کرده است. |
21 I went out full, but empty hath the Lord brought me home again; why then will ye call me Na'omi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath sent me affliction?
| دست پُر رفتم و خداوند مرا دست خالی بازگردانید. برای چه مرا نعومی می‌خوانید، حال آنکه خداوند قادر مطلق روی خود را از من برگردانیده و این مصیبت بزرگ را بر من وارد آورده است؟» |
22 So did Na'omi return, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, who had returned out of the fields of Moab; and they came to Beth-lechem at the beginning of the barley-harvest.
| (وقتی نعومی و روت از موآب به بیت‌لحم رسیدند، هنگام درو جو بود.) |
