Ruth 4
1 But Bo'az went up to the gate, and sat down there; and, behold, the kinsman of whom Bo'az had spoken came passing by; and he said unto him, Turn aside hither, sit down here, such a one. And he turned aside, and sat down.
੧ਤਦ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਫਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬੈਠਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਕੋਲੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਤਦ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਇੱਥੇ ਆ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਬੈਠ,” ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਸੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਿਆ।
2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
੨ਤਦ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਦਸ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਇੱਥੇ ਬੈਠੋ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬੈਠ ਗਏ।
3 And he said unto the kinsman, Na'omi, that is returned out of the field of Moab, hath to sell a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's.
੩ਤਦ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਨਾਓਮੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮੋਆਬ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਆਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਵੇਚਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਲੀਮਲਕ ਦਾ ਸੀ।
4 And I thought to inform thee of it, saying, Buy it before those sitting here, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it; but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know; for there is none beside thee to redeem it, and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.
੪ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਪਾਵਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਜੋ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਲੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ ਛੁਡਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ।” ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਛੁਡਾਵਾਂਗਾ।”
5 Then said Bo'az, On the day that thou buyest the field out of the hand of Na'omi, thou buyest it also from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
੫ਤਦ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖ਼ਰੀਦ ਲਵੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੀ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਮੋਆਬਣ ਰੂਥ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਲੈਣੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ।”
6 And the kinsman said, I am not able to redeem it for myself, lest I injure my own inheritance: redeem thou what I should redeem for thyself; for I am not able to redeem it.
੬ਤਦ ਉਸ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਫਿਰ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਕਰ ਬੈਠਾਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਲੈ ਲੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਸਕਦਾ।”
7 Now this was formerly the custom in Israel at a redeeming and at an exchanging, to confirm any thing, that a man pulled off his shoe, and gave it to the other; and this was the manner of testimony in Israel.
੭ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਟਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਰੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਜਣਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੁੱਤੀ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਬੂਤ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਇਹੋ ਰੀਤ ਸੀ।
8 Thereupon said the kinsman unto Bo'az, Buy it for thee. And he pulled off his shoe.
੮ਤਦ ਉਸ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੁੱਤੀ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ।”
9 And Bo'az said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that belonged to Elimelech, and all that belonged to Kilyon and Machlon, out of the hand of Na'omi.
੯ਤਦ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਗਵਾਹ ਹੋਏ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਅਲੀਮਲਕ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਲਓਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿਲੋਨ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖਰੀਦ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
10 And also Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Machlon, have I obtained for myself as my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
੧੦ਨਾਲੇ ਮੈਂ ਮਹਿਲੋਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਧਵਾ, ਮੋਆਬਣ ਰੂਥ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਬਣੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਕਿਤੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਫਾਟਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿੱਟ ਜਾਵੇ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਗਵਾਹ ਹੋ।”
11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, [We are] witnesses. The Lord grant that the woman that is coming into thy house be like Rachel and like Leah, who did both build up the house of Israel: and acquire thou wealth in Ephrathah, and let thy name become famous in Beth-lechem;
੧੧ਤਦ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਫਾਟਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਗਵਾਹ ਹਾਂ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈ ਹੈ, ਰਾਖ਼ੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਆਹ ਵਰਗੀ ਕਰੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਤੂੰ ਅਫਰਾਥਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀਰਤਾ ਕਰੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
12 And may thy house be like the house of Perez, whom Thamar bore unto Judah, through the seed which the Lord will give thee of this young woman.
੧੨ਤੇਰਾ ਟੱਬਰ, ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਪਰਸ ਦੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜਣੀ।”
13 And Bo'az took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in unto her: and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son.
੧੩ਤਦ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਰੂਥ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਗਰਭ ਦੀ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
14 And the women said unto Na'omi, Blessed be the Lord, who hath not allowed to be wanting unto thee a kinsman this day: and may his name become famous in Israel.
੧੪ਤਦ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ, ਜੋ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
15 And may he be unto thee one who refresheth thy soul, and who nourisheth thy old age; for thy daughter-in-law, who loveth thee, hath born him, she who is better to thee than seven sons.
੧੫ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਰੋਇਆ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਬੁਢਾਪੇ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਨੂੰਹ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸੱਤ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।”
16 And Na'omi took the child, and laid it in her lap, and she became a nurse unto it.
੧੬ਤਦ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਈ ਬਣੀ।
17 And the neighboring women gave him a name, saying, There hath been a son born unto Na'omi: and they called his name 'Obed, who is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
੧੭ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੁਆਂਢਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਕਿ “ਨਾਓਮੀ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਹੈ” ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਓਬੇਦ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਉਹ ਯੱਸੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਦਾਦਾ ਸੀ।
18 And these are the generations of Perez: Perez begat Chezron;
੧੮ਪਰਸ ਦੀ ਕੁਲਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਪਰਸ ਤੋਂ ਹਸਰੋਨ ਜੰਮਿਆ,
19 And Chezron begat Ram; and Ram begat 'Amminadab;
੧੯ਹਸਰੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਮ ਜੰਮਿਆ, ਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਮੀਨਾਦਾਬ ਜੰਮਿਆ
20 And 'Amminadab begat Nachshon; and Nachshon begat Salmah;
੨੦ਅਤੇ ਅੰਮੀਨਾਦਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਨਹਿਸ਼ੋਨ ਜੰਮਿਆ, ਨਹਸ਼ੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਲਮੋਨ ਜੰਮਿਆ
21 And Salmon begat Bo'az; and Bo'az begat 'Obed;
੨੧ਅਤੇ ਸਲਮੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਜੰਮਿਆ, ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਓਬੇਦ ਜੰਮਿਆ
22 And 'Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
੨੨ਅਤੇ ਓਬੇਦ ਤੋਂ ਯੱਸੀ ਜੰਮਿਆ, ਯੱਸੀ ਤੋਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਜੰਮਿਆ।
