Psalms 1

1 BOOK FIRST: Happy is the man who walketh not in the council of the wicked, and standeth not in the way of sinners, and sitteth not in the seat of scorners;

Glückselig der Mann, der nicht wandelt im Rate der Gottlosen, und nicht steht auf dem Wege der Sünder, und nicht sitzt auf dem Sitze der Spötter,

2 But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who doth meditate in his law by day and night.

sondern seine Lust hat am Gesetz Jehovas und über sein Gesetz sinnt Tag und Nacht!

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by rivulets of water, that yieldeth its fruit in its season, and the leaf of which doth not wither; and all that he may do shall prosper.

Und er ist wie ein Baum, gepflanzt an Wasserbächen, der seine Frucht bringt zu seiner Zeit, und dessen Blatt nicht verwelkt; und alles, was er tut, gelingt.

4 Not so the wicked; but they are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Nicht so die Gesetzlosen, sondern sie sind wie die Spreu, die der Wind dahintreibt.

5 Therefore shall the wicked not be able to stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

Darum werden die Gesetzlosen nicht bestehen im Gericht, noch die Sünder in der Gemeinde der Gerechten.

6 For the Lord regardeth the way of the righteous; but the way of the wicked leadeth to perdition.

Denn Jehova kennt den Weg der Gerechten; aber der Gesetzlosen Weg wird vergehen.
