< Psalms 99 >
1 The Lord reigneth; people tremble: he sitteth enthroned over the cherubim; the earth is moved.
Yahweh reigns; let the nations tremble. He sits enthroned above the cherubim; the earth quakes.
2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is exalted above all the people.
Yahweh is great in Zion; he is exalted above all the nations.
3 They will give thanks to thy name, great, and terrible, [and] holy it is.
Let them praise your great and awesome name; he is holy.
4 And to the power of the king who loveth justice and righteousness hast thou truly executed in Jacob.
The king is strong, and he loves justice. You have established fairness; you have done righteousness and justice in Jacob.
5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and bow yourselves down before his footstool: he is holy.—
Praise Yahweh our God and worship at his footstool. He is holy.
6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, and Samuel among those that call on his name; they called on the Lord, and he answered them.
Moses and Aaron were among his priests, and Samuel was among those who called on his name. They called to Yahweh, and he answered them.
7 In the pillar of cloud he used to speak unto them: they kept his testimonies, and the statutes which he had given unto them.
He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud. They kept his solemn commands and the statutes that he gave them.
8 O Lord, our God, thou didst answer them: thou wast a forgiving God unto them, yet also an avenger for their wrong doings.
You answered them, Yahweh our God. A forgiving God you were to them, but one who punished their sinful deeds.
9 Exalt the Lord our God, and bow yourselves down before his holy mount; for holy is the Lord our God.
Praise Yahweh our God, and worship at his holy hill, for Yahweh our God is holy.
