Psalms 94
1 O God, of vengeance, Lord! O God of vengeance, shine forth.
あだを報いられる神、主よ、あだを報いられる神よ、光を放ってください。
2 Lift up thyself, O judge of the Earth! bring a recompense upon the proud.
地をさばかれる者よ、立って高ぶる者にその受くべき罰をお与えください。
3 How long shall the wicked, O Lord—how long shall the wicked exult?
主よ、悪しき者はいつまで、悪しき者はいつまで勝ち誇るでしょうか。
4 They sputter, they speak hard things: all the workers of wickedness boast themselves.
彼らは高慢な言葉を吐き散らし、すべて不義を行う者はみずから高ぶります。
5 Thy people, O Lord! they crush, and thy heritage they afflict.
主よ、彼らはあなたの民を打ち砕き、あなたの嗣業を苦しめます。
6 The widow and the stranger they slay, and the fatherless they murder.
彼らはやもめと旅びとのいのちをうばい、みなしごを殺します。
7 And they say, The Lord will not see, and the God of Jacob will not take notice of it.
彼らは言います、「主は見ない、ヤコブの神は悟らない」と。
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye become intelligent!
民のうちの鈍き者よ、悟れ。愚かな者よ、いつ賢くなるだろうか。
9 He that hath planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that hath formed the eye, shall he not see?
耳を植えた者は聞くことをしないだろうか、目を造った者は見ることをしないだろうか。
10 He that admonisheth nations, shall he not correct? is it not he that teacheth man knowledge!
もろもろの国民を懲らす者は罰することをしないだろうか、人を教える者は知識をもたないだろうか。
11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are nought.
主は人の思いの、むなしいことを知られる。
12 Happy is the man whom thou admonisheth, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law:
主よ、あなたによって懲らされる人、あなたのおきてを教えられる人はさいわいです。
13 That thou mayest grant him repose from the days of evil, until the pot be dug for the wicked.
あなたはその人を災の日からのがれさせ、悪しき者のために穴が掘られるまでその人に平安を与えられます。
14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, and his inheritance will he not forsake.
主はその民を捨てず、その嗣業を見捨てられないからです。
15 For unto righteousness will justice return; and it shall be followed by all the upright in heart.
さばきは正義に帰り、すべて心の正しい者はそれに従うでしょう。
16 Who will rise up for me against evil-doers? or who will stand forward for me against the workers of wickedness?
だれがわたしのために立ちあがって、悪しき者を責めるだろうか。だれがわたしのために立って、不義を行う者を責めるだろうか。
17 Unless the Lord had been a help unto me, but a little would have been wanting that my soul had dwelt in the silence of death.
もしも主がわたしを助けられなかったならば、わが魂はとくに音なき所に住んだであろう。
18 When I said, My foot hath slipped: thy kindness, O Lord, sustained me.
しかし「わたしの足がすべる」と思ったとき、主よ、あなたのいつくしみはわたしをささえられました。
19 In the multitude of my [painful] thoughts within me, thy consolations delight my soul.
わたしのうちに思い煩いの満ちるとき、あなたの慰めはわが魂を喜ばせます。
20 Can there be associated with thee the throne of destructive wickedness, which frameth mischief as a law?
定めをもって危害をたくらむ悪しき支配者はあなたと親しむことができるでしょうか。
21 They band themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and innocent blood do they condemn.
彼らは相結んで正しい人の魂を責め、罪のない者に死を宣告します。
22 But the Lord is become my defence, and my God, the rock of my refuge.
しかし主はわが高きやぐらとなり、わが神はわが避け所の岩となられました。
23 And he will bring back upon them their own injustice, and in their own wickedness will he destroy them: [yea], he will destroy them—the Lord our God.
主は彼らの不義を彼らに報い、彼らをその悪のゆえに滅ぼされます。われらの神、主は彼らを滅ぼされます。
