Psalms 94
1 O God, of vengeance, Lord! O God of vengeance, shine forth.
HERR, Gott, des die Rache ist, Gott, des die Rache ist, erscheine!
2 Lift up thyself, O judge of the Earth! bring a recompense upon the proud.
Erhebe dich, du Richter der Welt; vergilt den Hoffärtigen, was sie verdienen!
3 How long shall the wicked, O Lord—how long shall the wicked exult?
HERR, wie lange sollen die Gottlosen, wie lange sollen die Gottlosen prahlen
4 They sputter, they speak hard things: all the workers of wickedness boast themselves.
und so trotzig reden, und alle Übeltäter sich so rühmen?
5 Thy people, O Lord! they crush, and thy heritage they afflict.
HERR, sie zerschlagen dein Volk und plagen dein Erbe;
6 The widow and the stranger they slay, and the fatherless they murder.
Witwen und Fremdlinge erwürgen sie und töten die Waisen
7 And they say, The Lord will not see, and the God of Jacob will not take notice of it.
und sagen: “Der HERR sieht's nicht, und der Gott Jakobs achtet's nicht.”
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye become intelligent!
Merket doch, ihr Narren unter dem Volk! Und ihr Toren, wann wollt ihr klug werden?
9 He that hath planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that hath formed the eye, shall he not see?
Der das Ohr gepflanzt hat, sollte der nicht hören? Der das Auge gemacht hat, sollte der nicht sehen?
10 He that admonisheth nations, shall he not correct? is it not he that teacheth man knowledge!
Der die Heiden züchtigt, sollte der nicht strafen, -der die Menschen lehrt, was sie wissen?
11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are nought.
Aber der HERR weiß die Gedanken der Menschen, daß sie eitel sind.
12 Happy is the man whom thou admonisheth, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law:
Wohl dem, den du, HERR, züchtigst und lehrst ihn durch dein Gesetz,
13 That thou mayest grant him repose from the days of evil, until the pot be dug for the wicked.
daß er Geduld habe, wenn's übel geht, bis dem Gottlosen die Grube bereitet werde!
14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, and his inheritance will he not forsake.
Denn der HERR wird sein Volk nicht verstoßen noch sein Erbe verlassen.
15 For unto righteousness will justice return; and it shall be followed by all the upright in heart.
Denn Recht muß doch Recht bleiben, und dem werden alle frommen Herzen zufallen.
16 Who will rise up for me against evil-doers? or who will stand forward for me against the workers of wickedness?
Wer steht bei mir wider die Boshaften? Wer tritt zu mir wider die Übeltäter?
17 Unless the Lord had been a help unto me, but a little would have been wanting that my soul had dwelt in the silence of death.
Wo der HERR nicht hülfe, so läge meine Seele schier in der Stille.
18 When I said, My foot hath slipped: thy kindness, O Lord, sustained me.
Ich sprach: Mein Fuß hat gestrauchelt; aber deine Gnade, HERR, hielt mich.
19 In the multitude of my [painful] thoughts within me, thy consolations delight my soul.
Ich hatte viel Bekümmernisse in meinem Herzen; aber deine Tröstungen ergötzten meine Seele.
20 Can there be associated with thee the throne of destructive wickedness, which frameth mischief as a law?
Du wirst ja nimmer eins mit dem schädlichen Stuhl, der das Gesetz übel deutet.
21 They band themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and innocent blood do they condemn.
Sie rüsten sich gegen die Seele des Gerechten und verdammen unschuldig Blut.
22 But the Lord is become my defence, and my God, the rock of my refuge.
Aber der HERR ist mein Schutz; mein Gott ist der Hort meiner Zuversicht.
23 And he will bring back upon them their own injustice, and in their own wickedness will he destroy them: [yea], he will destroy them—the Lord our God.
Und er wird ihnen ihr Unrecht vergelten und wird sie um ihre Bosheit vertilgen; der HERR, unser Gott, wird sie vertilgen.
