Psalms 94
1 O God, of vengeance, Lord! O God of vengeance, shine forth.
Sinä koston Jumala, Herra, sinä koston Jumala, ilmesty kirkkaudessa.
2 Lift up thyself, O judge of the Earth! bring a recompense upon the proud.
Nouse, maan tuomari, kosta ylpeille heidän tekonsa.
3 How long shall the wicked, O Lord—how long shall the wicked exult?
Kuinka kauan jumalattomat, Herra, kuinka kauan jumalattomat saavat riemuita?
4 They sputter, they speak hard things: all the workers of wickedness boast themselves.
Ne syytävät suustaan julkeita sanoja, ne röyhkeilevät, kaikki nuo väärintekijät.
5 Thy people, O Lord! they crush, and thy heritage they afflict.
Sinun kansaasi, Herra, he runtelevat, ja sinun perintöosaasi he rasittavat.
6 The widow and the stranger they slay, and the fatherless they murder.
He tappavat leskiä ja muukalaisia ja murhaavat orpoja.
7 And they say, The Lord will not see, and the God of Jacob will not take notice of it.
Ja he sanovat: "Ei Herra sitä näe, ei Jaakobin Jumala sitä huomaa".
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye become intelligent!
Ymmärtäkää, te kansan järjettömät, ja te tomppelit-milloin te tulette järkiinne?
9 He that hath planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that hath formed the eye, shall he not see?
Joka on korvan istuttanut, hänkö ei kuulisi? Joka on silmän luonut, hänkö ei näkisi?
10 He that admonisheth nations, shall he not correct? is it not he that teacheth man knowledge!
Joka kansat kasvattaa, hänkö ei rankaisisi, hän, joka ihmisille opettaa tiedon?
11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are nought.
Herra tuntee ihmisten ajatukset; sillä he ovat kuin tuulen henkäys.
12 Happy is the man whom thou admonisheth, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law:
Autuas se mies, jota sinä, Herra, kuritat ja jolle sinä opetat lakisi,
13 That thou mayest grant him repose from the days of evil, until the pot be dug for the wicked.
antaaksesi hänelle rauhan pahoilta päiviltä, kunnes jumalattomalle on kaivettu hauta!
14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, and his inheritance will he not forsake.
Sillä Herra ei hylkää kansaansa eikä perintöosaansa heitä,
15 For unto righteousness will justice return; and it shall be followed by all the upright in heart.
vaan oikeus on vielä noudattava vanhurskautta, ja kaikki oikeamieliset seuraavat sitä.
16 Who will rise up for me against evil-doers? or who will stand forward for me against the workers of wickedness?
Kuka nousee minun puolelleni pahoja vastaan, kuka asettuu minun rinnalleni väärintekijöitä vastaan?
17 Unless the Lord had been a help unto me, but a little would have been wanting that my soul had dwelt in the silence of death.
Ellei Herra olisi minun apuni, pian minun sieluni asuisi hiljaisuuden maassa.
18 When I said, My foot hath slipped: thy kindness, O Lord, sustained me.
Kun minä ajattelen: "Minun jalkani horjuu", niin sinun armosi, Herra, minua tukee.
19 In the multitude of my [painful] thoughts within me, thy consolations delight my soul.
Kun minulla on sydämessäni paljon murheita, niin sinun lohdutuksesi ilahuttaa minun sieluni.
20 Can there be associated with thee the throne of destructive wickedness, which frameth mischief as a law?
Onko yhteyttä sinun kanssasi turmion tuomioistuimella, jossa väkivaltaa tehdään lain varjolla,
21 They band themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and innocent blood do they condemn.
ahdistetaan vanhurskaan sielua ja tuomitaan syylliseksi viaton veri?
22 But the Lord is become my defence, and my God, the rock of my refuge.
Mutta Herra on minun linnani, Jumalani on minun suojakallioni.
23 And he will bring back upon them their own injustice, and in their own wickedness will he destroy them: [yea], he will destroy them—the Lord our God.
Hän kostaa heille heidän ilkityönsä ja hukuttaa heidät heidän pahuutensa tähden. Herra, meidän Jumalamme, hukuttaa heidät.
