Psalms 91
1 He who sitteth under the secret protection of the Most High, shall rest under the shadow of the Almighty.
Ohlezi ekusithekeni koPhezukonke uzahlala emthunzini kaSomandla.
2 I will say of the Lord, who is my refuge and my stronghold, my God, in whom I ever trust,
Ngizakuthi eNkosini: Uyisiphephelo sami lenqaba yami, uNkulunkulu wami, engithemba kuye.
3 That he will surely deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the pestilence of destruction.
Sibili yena uzakukhulula emjibileni womthiyi, kuye umatshayabhuqe wesifo obhubhisayo.
4 With his pinions will he cover thee, and under his wings shalt thou find shelter: shield and buckler is his truth.
Uzakusibekela ngensiba zakhe, uzathembela langaphansi kwempiko zakhe; iqiniso lakhe liyisihlangu lehawu.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night; nor of the arrow that flieth by day;
Kawuyikwesaba isesabiso sebusuku, umtshoko ophaphayo emini,
6 Nor of the pestilence that stalketh in darkness; nor of the deadly disease that wasteth at noonday.
umatshayabhuqe wesifo ohambayo emnyameni, incithakalo ebhubhisayo emini enkulu.
7 There shall fall at thy side a thousand, and ten thousand at thy right hand; unto thee [however] shall it not come nigh.
Bazakuwa abayinkulungwane eceleni kwakho, labayizinkulungwane ezilitshumi ngakwesokunene sakho; kuwe kakuyikusondela.
8 Only with thy eyes shalt thou behold it, and see the recompense of the wicked.
Uzakhangela nje ngamehlo akho, ubone impindiselo kwababi.
9 Because thou hast [said], The Lord is my protection, the Most High hast thou made thy refuge:
Ngoba wena, Nkosi, uyisiphephelo sami; umenzile oPhezukonke waba yindawo yakho yokuhlala.
10 No evil shall befall thee, nor shall any plague come nigh unto thy tent.
Kakulabubi obuzakwehlela, lenhlupheko kayiyikusondela ethenteni lakho.
11 For his angels will he give charge concerning thee, to guard thee on all thy ways.
Ngoba uzalaya ingilosi zakhe ngawe, ukuthi zikulondoloze endleleni zakho zonke.
12 Upon [their] hands shall they bear thee, that thou mayest not dash against a stone thy foot.
Zizakuphatha ezandleni, hlezi utshayeke ngonyawo lwakho elitsheni.
13 Upon the fierce lion and asp shalt thou tread: thou shalt trample under foot the young lion and serpent.
Uzanyathela isilwane lebululu, uzagxoba ibhongo lesilwane, lomgobho.
14 Because he hath fixed his desire upon me, therefore will I release him: I will set him on high, because he knoweth my name.
Ngoba uyangithanda kakhulu, ngakho ngizamkhulula; ngizambeka phezulu, ngoba uyalazi ibizo lami.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him: with him will I be in distress; I will deliver him, and grant him honor.
Uzangibiza, njalo ngimphendule; ngibe laye ekuhluphekeni, ngimkhulule, ngimnike udumo.
16 With length of days will I satisfy him, and I will let him see my salvation.
Ngizamsuthisa ngobude bezinsuku, ngimtshengise usindiso lwami.
