< Psalms 87 >
1 “By the sons of Korach; a psalm or song.” It is founded by him on holy mountains.
[A Psalm by the sons of Korah; a Song.] His foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. (Selah)
Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God. (Selah)
4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon as those that know me; behold, here is Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia: “This man was born there.”
I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me. Look, Philistia, Tyre, and also Ethiopia: "This one was born there."
5 But of Zion will it be said, “This and that man were born in her:” and the Most High himself doth establish her.
Yes, of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one was born in her;" the Most High himself will establish her.
6 The Lord will number when he writeth down nations. “This man was born there.” (Selah)
The LORD will count, when he writes up the peoples, "This one was born there." (Selah)
7 And the singers as well as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs [of joy] are in thee.
And those who sing as well as the pipers: "My whole source of joy is in you."
