Psalms 83
1 “A song or psalm of Assaph.” O God, take no rest for thyself: be not silent and keep not still, O God!
| שיר מזמור לאסף ב אלהים אל-דמי-לך אל-תחרש ואל-תשקט אל |
2 For, lo, thy enemies make a tumult, and they that hate thee have lifted up their head.
| כי-הנה אויביך יהמיון ומשנאיך נשאו ראש |
3 Against thy people they take crafty secret device, and they consult against those whom thou protectest.
| על-עמך יערימו סוד ויתיעצו על-צפוניך |
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; and the name of Israel shall be remembered no more.
| אמרו--לכו ונכחידם מגוי ולא-יזכר שם-ישראל עוד |
5 For they have consulted cordially together; against thee they make a covenant:
| כי נועצו לב יחדו עליך ברית יכרתו |
6 The tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites: Moab, and the Hagarenes;
| אהלי אדום וישמעאלים מואב והגרים |
7 Gebal, and 'Ammon, and 'Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
| גבל ועמון ועמלק פלשת עם-ישבי צור |
8 Also Asshur is joined with them; they have become an arm unto the children of Lot. (Selah)
| גם-אשור נלוה עמם היו זרוע לבני-לוט סלה |
9 Do unto them as [unto] Midian; as to Sissera, as to Jabin, at the brook Kishon:
| עשה-להם כמדין כסיסרא כיבין בנחל קישון |
10 Who were annihilated at 'En-dor; they became as dung for the ground.
| נשמדו בעין-דאר היו דמן לאדמה |
11 Render them, their nobles, like 'Oreb, and like Zeeb; yea, like Zebach and like Zalmunna' all their princes;
| שיתמו נדיבימו כערב וכזאב וכזבח וכצלמנע כל-נסיכימו |
12 Who said, Let us conquer for ourselves the dwellings of God,
| אשר אמרו נירשה לנו-- את נאות אלהים |
13 O my God, render them like the thistle-down, like stubble before the wind.
| אלהי שיתמו כגלגל כקש לפני-רוח |
14 As the fire burneth up a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire:
| כאש תבער-יער וכלהבה תלהט הרים |
15 So pursue them with thy storm, and with thy whirlwind do thou terrify them.
| כן תרדפם בסערך ובסופתך תבהלם |
16 Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Lord!
| מלא פניהם קלון ויבקשו שמך יהוה |
17 Let them be made ashamed and terrified for ever and aye; yea, let them be put to the blush and perish:
| יבשו ויבהלו עדי-עד ויחפרו ויאבדו |
18 That they may know that thou, whose name is the Eternal, art by thyself alone, the Most High over all the earth.
| וידעו-- כי-אתה שמך יהוה לבדך עליון על-כל-הארץ |
